  1. I am so paranoid, I am doing the 3 protein shakes a day and taking out the lean cuisine as my surgery is on Friday. I have lost only 2 lbs and I am super paranoid I am going to go down there and be turned away! I havent passed anything hardly and feel like I am retaining water, any suggestions? Has anyone on the board had to be post poned?
  2. This may be retarded thinking but... When you are on the soft foods diet, has anyone eaten baby food? It seems like it would be the right portion and consistency, and I think they are pretty nutritious? I am getting banded on Friday and curious if anyone has done that, went shopping for post op food/liquids and thought about that, any idea's about this???
  3. I am having my surgery on Friday, I live each day for my lean cuisine but have been adding a cup of light, weight watcher soup because two protein shakes are not enough to get me through a gym workout. The pre-op says nothing about working out but I know I would pass out if all I had was two protein shakes all day before working out. I have noticed though (not to gross anyone out but...) I have not had a BM in a few days and when I do, its tiny little round things that are not easy to get out, sorry for being so blunt but is this normal??? I havent dropped much weight at all and I think it might be from being unable to pass anything... any advice? I just started the fiber chewables and also taking a multi vitamin in the morning.
  4. Thanks everyone, I was wondering about gel tabs, I thought I remembered that they were ok to take since they disolve quickly but wasn't sure if I heard that right.
  5. Hi all, my surgery is 1/2/09 and I am going to GNC & Trader Joes this weekend to stock up on some vitamins and such for post op. Is any multivitamin ok? I know some of you have liquid vitamins or gummy ones, please let me know the brand. Also is Biotin the best one for hair loss, I am sorrt of paranoid of that side effect. I feel like I already loss alot of hair everytime I blow dry. Thank for the help. Pre-Surgery diet starts on Friday, Lord help me get through the holidays! >
  6. 1. Name: Jennifer 2. Location: Huntington Beach, CA 3. Age: 26 4. Band Date: January 2, 2009 5. Married: Not yet...but in a LTR 6. Children of the human or furry kind: Just 3 Betta Fish for now 7. Hobby(ies): Playing softball, bowling, Line Dancing 8. Work: Administration, I think desk jobs got me to this point, no activity! 9. What was the deciding factor(s) on getting banded: My mother and 3 of my aunts on both sides of the family have had gastric bypass, I have reached the 200lb mark and would like this surgery to get me down to a healthy weight and lifestyle before it gets more out of hand. 10. Interesting factoid: I am a senior in college and going to be the first member of either side of my large family to graduate college in 32 years, the last two were my mom and dad.
  7. YES! I am getting banded on January 2nd and the reality of not being able to big out of my favorites in the future is so foreign to me, I am starting pre-op in a week and I told my boyfriend last night that for the next week we need to eat my favorite foods everynight. Its bad I know but I dont know how I am going to handle no more Chipotle, or Black Tie Pasta from Claim Jumper and the Chicken Mediera at Cheese Cake Factory...oh my its sad. But the benefit in health and waist size will be well worth it, its just sort of like a culture shock I guess...I think I will narrow it down to one last meal, instead of all week.
  8. So when you get the surgery it is the band only with no silicone in it...or just not that much? Thanks everyone for your replies!
  9. I love green beans and asparagus, but usually with lots of butter, guess I need to cut that part off. I tried a strawberry protien shake this morning, I had one sip and couldnt do it, although I think I porportioned it wrong so I need to get a measuring cup. I have a vanilla meal replacement shake I am trying for lunch tomorrow, hopefully that tastes better, I am testing the waters before I go full board on the pre-op diet.
  10. Thanks for the answers so far! I was also looking at my bank account last night and realizing how much money I spend on fast food, I cant wait to save that money on more healthier choices! Its pretty embarrassing...
  11. My surgery is January 2nd with Dr. Martinez, I am being dropped off at the border and picked up the next day by family (assuming I am ready to be released) I will be alone while there which is scary but not a huge deal to me. Good luck on the 29th! Glad to hear good things about Dr. Martinez!
  12. Ok I have been looking at the message boards and still have a few questions. 1. In the pictures (before and after) I havn't seen many with the droopy arms, I have big arms and my goal is to lose about 60 lbs, is the weight loss slow enough (as opposed to gastric bypass) that your skin has more time to "shrink" or do most people still have to have cosmetic surgery? 2. Also, I realize people lose in different area's at different times but I love my boobs and just was wondering if I should expect them to look "deflated"...have many needed to get a boob job? 3. What are some good solid foods to start with once you are at the 6 week mark, I read mashed potatoes and peas somewhere but wanted some more idea's. 4. I read someone pays $100 when they go do their fills because it is done with flouroscopy, what is the alternative that is included in surgery costs? 5. Can you recomend protein or meal replacements that taste good. They are pretty pricey and dont want to stock up on a nasty one. Thank you for your help, I am getting banded on January 2nd and am trying to have all of my bases covered. :-h Current Weight: 202 Goal Weight: 130
