  1. Hi B2010,

Don't be too hard on yourself. When I was approved for the surgery, they told me to lose 11 pounds and within 1 month I gained 4. Ugh...

I am a stay at home Mom and (online)college student, so I understand about being home and having access to food.

So I cut out all the breads, rices, pastas, diet sodas and even though I rarely ate fried foods, those were completely gone too. It really helped, because I lost the weight needed in no time.

What worked for me, was anytime I decided I was hungry, I got a bottle of water and downed it. I have heard others who chewed gum when they have the head hunger/food urge, I didn't because I knew once banded, gum is a no no. For me, the water helped with the mental hunger. I kept to only the 3 meals a day and for 1-2 meals a day I had an EAS low carb protein drink. They are really tasty.

Keep your chin up, you can do this. :) I have faith in you!

    Hugs,

    Kristi

  2. Hi Shadi,

I continued to lose up till my first fill. The last two - three weeks I slowed down a bit.

If you can, try and get some walking in for exercise. I really think that helped me keep losing.

As soon as I was given the green light to return to working out at the gym, I was there.

    You can do this. :)

    Good luck,

    Kristi

  3. Amy,

Good morning. :) Well, I am not totlly sure whether a chunky smoothie is liquid or solid. However in eating, I would eat the egg first and wait a bit and then slowly sip/eat the smoothie.

Unless you are having it for breakfast.

I so wish I could drink smoothies, I have issues for some really odd reason that don't even really make too much sense to me that won't allow me to drink them. They get stuck and if not stuck then it just doesn't sit well and I am not keeping it down. I have tried many different kinds too. So not fair. :(

Hopefully someone can answer you better.

    Your confuscious sayings are cute.

    Hugs,

    Kristi

  4. Afternoon All,

Back from San Diego, Everything went well. Doc is happy with my vitamin panel bloodwork, which is really good because I was kinda worried about that.

Wasn't able to meet anyone down there, but its all good, since my new doc decided she wanted to do a fill. Founds out I had 4.0cc's instead of 3.75cc and she added .5cc's, now I am at 4.5cc's. Which means liquids for a few days and then softies. Ugh.. And now I have to re-learn how to eat when I am back on solids again. It's all the nature of the beast. LOL...

I hope everyone's Thursday is good!

    Hugs,

    Kristi

Debbie, thank you. You are so sweet. BTW, have you looked in the mirror, WOW, you are so Rockin' your Band. :D

  5. Good Evening,

Well, this morning, I weighed-in, but couldn't post.

Still at 138. I have a follow-up care band appointment tomorrow. I am nervous about their scale, because I weigh on my scale in the same conditions every Wed, and I don't know what it will say at the hospital. EEEkkkk...

Angie, Great Job Sweetie! I so agree with Carrie! I am proud of you too. :)

Carrie, thank you. I definitely enjoyed the turkey burgers. Tonight we used the left over uncooked turkey meat mixture and cooked it and added some crushed tomatoes and some zuccini and some lentils and it was really yummy.

Congrats to the losers this week. :D

    Hugs,

    Kristi

  6. BrownEyedGirl,

Thank you. :) Do you live in San Diego? Where are ya at? I actually live in Riverside County. Send me a message.

This is an exciting time for you. Getting banded has been such an amazing experience. You will do Great!

    Smidgit,

My husband is in the Navy and I had gotten all of my follow-up care at Camp Pendelton, but my Doc got out of the Navy and I am now going down to Balboa Naval Hospital for follow-up care. They are considering my appt on Thursday as my 9 month follow-up care assessment. We will see how that goes. :D

    Hugs,

    Kristi

  7. Thank You All,

To me, ALL of you are my motivation and inspiration. :)

I feel so blessed to be a part of this wonderful group.

Hugs and love to all of you,

    Kristi

MONDAY: Carrie, btw, tried the turkey burger recipe and it was AWESOME. My son, who is so picky, loved it. Made them last night and then again for lunch. SUPER YUMMY! :D

  8. Hi Sabrina,

I usually eat about 3/4 - 1 cup of food. I eat boneless chicken, salmon, and love turkey meatballs. Not a whole lot, except chicken.

I worry about malnutrition too, I see the Doc next Thursday and did blood work for vitamins last week, so I am hoping I am ok. I guess I will find out on Thursday. But I do feel great. :)

    Hugs,

    Kristi

  9. GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT.........

    100 POUNDS GONE!!!! WOOHOO

    Scale: 138

This is a good and happy week.

Carrie, I saw that you put a turkey burger recipe on here. That looks so good. I plan on making them sometime this weekend, probably Saturday night. Yum..

    Hugs,

    Kristi

Congrats to all the losers this week! :)

  10. Good Morning,

So as I have followed this the last couple of days, I figured I would put my two cents in.

It is very hard to wrap my mind around the weight-loss. I, like Carrie, still see smaller versions of the big girl I was. Even at a size 4, I get a glimpse of the new me and as soon as the glimpse is done, there is that smaller fluffy version. It can be very frustrating to deal with at times. I can also look at pictures and see the new me, but I will take a look in the mirror and it doesn't feel real at times.

I have been getting used to it, slowly. I guess my biggest fear is that I will end up back where I was. I have been learning to accept the changes that have taken place. My best friend says I am having a hard time accepting it because I lost it way faster than I ever expected to. Even my Doctor, has been shocked with it all. I never really had any expectations with my band. I just figured if I followed what the Docs told me with the band, maybe this time the struggle with weight-loss would not be as bad.

Through all this, with help from my husband, family, friends, and my friends here, I have come pretty far. I have learned to not only like myself, but to really love me again. I may not always see the new me all the time, but it is getting better everyday.

I am happy with that. As the saying goes, Baby Steps. :)

  11. This morning, the scale gave me a number that was good good good, 139.7

Angie, I am so excited for you. It sounds like a sweet spot for now. :) Congrats!

Sabrina, woohoo. You dropped that vacation weight like a champion. I have a feeling when I go to Hawaii in March, I am probably going to be gaining a bit too, and I hope I can do the same.

Debbie, Great job! You really amaze me.

Lindsay, 20 pounds till goal, AWESOME!! I have seen your pics you put up and you look great.

Bogiesmom, It is so wonderful to break a plateau. Victory!

    Amy, Good for you. Excellent.

Shelby, I hope you feel better soon.

Carrie, I have found that 3 meals a day are so needed. I find if I don't eat right by having them 3 meals a day, I don't lose. I have just re-started that because I was being bad and not eating since I wasn't hungry. Bad me.

I love refried beans, never thought about dipping them in ranch. That does sound yummy. But I also love steak, chicken, or burgers and blue cheese dressing. It tastes so good to me. :D

Thank you for what you said last week. I really needed that.

BTW, I found at a restaurant called Islands, they make a fabulous Turkey Burger. It isn't like a turkey burger patty at all. So good and fresh! Great on protein too.

    Hugs to all,

    Kristi

  12. Sueca,

Congrats on your success getting to goal.

That is a bummer that you are having issues with eating. It's a good thing you are gonna get everything checked out. Smart thing to do.

I saw that you put that you are cold all the time now that you are at 135.

I have noticed that I get very cold too easily.

What else have you noticed since getting to this weight?

What size did you start at, and at now?

Success stories are always awesome to read about.

    Hugs,

    Kristi
