  6. Hi. I was just reading your post and you said you lost over 120 pounds in 9 months. I was abanded on Sept 29th and was wondering if you could give me some tips on what you did to lose that much weight. I am 51 years old so I was wondering if you are really young and that is why you dropped the weight so fast. Any tips you can give me sure would be appreciated . I think that it is absolutely amazing that you lost that much weight in that length of time. Look forward to hearing from you Debbie

  9. A fellow Vancouver Islander. Where are you from? I live in Shawnigan Lake. About fills I really would like to go to the OCC but I cannot afford it. I will be travelling to Marysville in Washington to have my fills at the Northwest Clinic . They do them under fluroscopy for I believe $275.00. I would have to check on that . They have a web site that you can go to. Lots of good education on it. http://www.nwfills.com/protein.html I was just banded on Sept 29th so have not experienced bp or sliming. My understanding is if you don't chew well enough and something gets stuck. Your mouth will fill with a real thick salive to attempt to get the food down. If that does not work you basically burp up the whole mouthfull of food. I don't ever want to experience this so I will be chew, chew, chewing. If you want to email me at my personal email to chat it is shieldsd@shaw.ca Looking forward to hearing where you live. Debbie P.S This is one of the best decisions you will ever make. You will love the OCC and all the staff they are like a home away from home.
  10. Hi Holly. I loved your video. Can't wait to see the rest of it. You have done an amazing job and look fantastic Deb
  11. Hi Deena. No I have not tried it yet. Maybe I will make some this weekend. How are you doing? Debbie
  12. Hi everyone. I finally heard back from Dr Miranda and she says we should have 50 grams of protein a day Debbie
  13. Hi Melly. I am a nurse manager on a large medical unit so do not do direct patient care anymore. Office work, meetings, running the unit and lots of walking. I went from 317 lbs to 297 from the beginning of the year. I was 297 pounds when I started my pre-op diet at the end of August. When I left to go to Mexico on Sept 28th to be banded I weighed 269. I am 9 days post op and weighed 262 this morning. I mark down my weight and change my ticker on Saturdays so might drop a few more pounds before then. Have you been banded yet or researching at this point? Debbie
  14. Hi. I am Canadian and to even see a bariatric surgeon can take up to a year for a consult. I researched Lap band, talked to people who had it done and joined this forum which is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My research lead me Dr Ortiz at the Obesity Control Center in TJ Mexico. It was the best decision I have ever made. I had my band on Sept 29th and it was a breeze. It took Dr Ortiz 7 minutes to place it and the only problem I had post op was bruising and a little gas the first day. I had the band on a Tuesday. Flew home on Thursday and was back at work Monday. I am a Registered Nurse and manage a large medical unit so my job is very busy . I have had no problems returning to work. I don't know what to tell you to ask your bariatric surgeon but I can tell you it was the best decision I ever made and I am looking forward to a much healthier lifestyle and a much smaller body in the next year. My only regret is that I did not know about this years and have it done. Good luck Debbie

Hi Kathy , good to hear from you. I am on day 8 and just started on the drinkable yogurt today. Went back to work Monday and am doing well. Only complaint is I look like someone took the boots to me. My stomach is black, blue, purple, green, yellow and pink Glad to hear you are doing well. Stay strong and no more cheating you don't want to pay for it 6 months down the road Take care Debbie
  17. Hi Shelby. I noticed that you eat alot of mexican food and chips. When you say chips do you mean tortilla chips? If so how do they go down? Do they ever get stuck? Debbie
  18. Wow Holly you look fantastic. I can't believe that you have lost that much weight. How long has it been since you were banded? Have you had trouble with sagging skin or needed a tummy tuck. I am just curious because I have well over a 100 pounds to lose. Debbie
  19. what is greek yogurt? I have seen it on the boards several times but have never seen it in any stores. I live in Canada so maybe we don't have it. Where do you buy it? and what makes it so good Debbie
  20. Here is the linkto the page that lists high protein foods for bandsters. http://www.nwfills.com/protein.html Debbie
  21. The Northwest Fill Center in Washington has a web page and on it there is a page with a list of high protein foods. How many grams of protein per serving. I printed it off and have it on my fridge for when I start eating. Debbie
  22. Have a wonderful time and swim with the dolphins Debbie
  23. Hi it is good to hear from you. My bruising is starting to fade a bit but I still look like someone took the boots to me. I also am still sore around the port site. It is getting better daily and I can nearly sleep on my tummy again as well. Does anyone know how long it takes before that port pain dissappears all together? I am having no problem drinking but I do feel full all the time and have to make myself get enough fluids in for the day. About the burping. I was burping right from the moment I woke up after surgery and the pain was incredible. Now I can belch away and there is no pain with it. I would think you area just getting rid of gas. It is a horrible pain but it will subside. Got to run to work now. I hope you have an awesome day. Tomorrow I get to start liquid yogurt so that should be interesting. Debbie
