  1. I am just wondering how much a sleeve costs at the OCC?
  2. I am now 5 1/2 months post op and feeling great. I have had 3 fills and now have 7cc in my 11cc band. Food gets stuck frequesntly and it is uncomfortable but I am learning to deal with it. I will be going back to the OCC next week for my fourth and hopefully final fill. I want to lose another 35 pounds and then I will finally be happy!
  3. I am confused. I have 7cc's in my 11cc band and feel occasional pain when food gets stuck. When this happens I need to throw up and the pain goes away. Is this what restriction feels like? I want the feeling of fullness but not the pain of feeling stuck. I know I need to eat slower and take smaller bites but will I feel full eventaually? This pain is getting me down. Please give me some advice. I still want to get another fill because when I take smaller bites and eat slow I can still eat a lot. HELP...
  4. got my 3rd fill today. Hopefully I will be able to feel a difference.

  5. How do you know that if you had any more fill volume you would be too tight? What sensation do you have when you should stop eating? It's different than when food gets stuck, right?

  6. You said that your fill MD tries to get you to your sweet spot ASAP? How many cc's do you have after your 2nd fill? I only have 6 and still don't feel much restriction. Going for #3 next Monday. I am just curious. Do you have an 11cc band?

  7. I have lost the exact same amount of weight as you (about 27 lbs) Not much after 2nd fill. I have 6 cc in my band and am going on the 31st for more. I want at least 8. Let me know how your fill trip goes. Weight loss has been much slower than I had hoped.

  8. Hi Kat,

I am down about 25 pounds but have had my 2nd fill and am going for my 3rd on Monday. Everyone I talk to says that you don't really get much restriction until you have at least 8cc's in an 11cc band. Do Not despare! Email me at mhermanrn@yahoo.com and we can chat more. Hang in there! Margaret

  9. Does the weight loss happen quicker now?

  10. So what exactly does restriction feel like? It's different than getting stuck, right??

  11. Do you have restriction at 8cc's? I have 6 and don't feel much unless the food gets stuck.

  12. Hi Storm,

I live in Long Beach. If you ever want to go down to TJ for a fill run, let me know.

  13. I have similar feelings. I can eat almost as much as I did before being banded. I have the bad habit of eating too fast and taking too big of bites and then it gets stuck. I have thrown up about 3 times but at least the pain subsides after that. I have not lost very much weight and need to decrease my alcohol intake as that is probably adding to my problem. When I have a drink then I tend to overeat. I have had 2 fills and have 6cc's in my band. Dr. So said that most people need at least 8 cc's to feel full restriction. I guess I need to go back down. Hang in there.
  14. You look FANTASTIC!

  15. Ok, I have a question/concern... I was banded on 1/14/10 and have only had one fill so far. What is the difference between restriction and the sensation of food getting stuck? Is it the same? I have been having a lot of episodes where the food is sticking and it is very painful to the point where I throw up the stuck pieces. I am scheduled to get a fill next week and wonder if I will get this sensation a lot more once the fill is done. I can still eat a lot so I don't think that I have gotten to my sweet spot but am getting tired of the pain--even when I take small bites chewed well. What's the deal here? Should I get another fill? I only have 3.5cc in an 11cc band. Please HELP!!!
  16. I was also afraid of having surgery outside the US until I researched the OCC. I am a nurse in Long Beach, CA and I can tell you that my experience at the OCC was better than any experience I have had in the US!

  17. Go for it! It is the best thing I have ever done!

  18. I wish you all the luck in the world! Everyone loses at their own pace so don't compare yourself to anyone but you! Hope you have an easy recovery!

  19. I am going for my first fill tomorrow. I have only lost about 18 pounds and am also getting frustrated. I can eat as much as ever but don't. Wish me luck!!
  20. I am scheduled for my first fill in one week. Since my surgery on Jan 14th I have had several episodes of severe chest pain when I eat and have to leave the table and walk around to have the pain subside. Is this restriction? I think it may be due lack of chewing enough or too big of a bite. I generally eat less than I did before my surgery but my weight loss has come to a halt. I have only lost about 13 lbs since the surgery. Any advice out there??
  21. I also had my surgery on the 14th and had a wonderful experience. I have had very little pain, only when I bend over. The largest incision is a little sore but the others are great. I must admit though, I am very hungry. Broth just doesn't cut it but it is a small price to pay. There is NO WAY I will cheat. I was also one of the ladies that was getting ready to leave when you came to the clinic and I'm glad you had a good experience. I did make one mistake and weighed myself. It appears that I've gained 7 lbs but I am pretty sure it's probably from fluid retention and swelling. It sure the heck isn't from food. Keep us posted on your success!
  22. Hi Theresa,

Are you still on for the 14th? We will be staying at the Lucerna. I hope we can get together.

  23. If your BMI is above 32 they will want you to lose a little weight. This may vary from doctor to doctor,
