  1. You just gotta find something that works for you. Good luck!!
  2. Cleo, If you're not losing weight, are you drinking fluids? Water? The water really helps to get the weight off because it you think about: The weight has to get out of your body so you have to flush it out. I know it's hard to drink 80 oz of water (I Don't) a day when you are not eating anything to wash it down with!! Try going back to your pre-surgery diet for a week and see how you do. I would not drink the Slim-Fast. But yes to pop sickles, broth etc. My weight has gone up and down but for the most part down and I rec'd a 1 cc fill 4 weeks after surgery. That was a week ago and I'm still not hungry, but I eat, because I'm having a hard time breaking those old habits that got me to 241 lbs. I can eat chicken if it's cup to about the size the end of a straw or a little bigger. I still have a problem learning to eat slow and chew slow. There's no way to chew food 25 times. It goes down on it's own after about 10 ot 15 chews. Just try different diets for long enoungh 5-7 days to really see if you lose weight. Try not to overeat and also keep up with the support groups. Good luck!!
  3. My first semi-solid was potato soup, not as running as the doctor suggested, also topped with cheese. It was so good!! I've eaten more cream potatoes in the last few weeks than my entire life but they are better that the pudding and broth and pop sickles. I'm so tired of pop sickles!!! The Country-Crock cream potatoes are great and easy. My first solid food was 1/2 turkey sandwich on white bread with mustard and mayo. Doctor says to chew your food 25 times. That's impossible to do!! After you chew about 15 times, it automatically goes down. Just take small bites. I got in a hurry with the last couple of bites but they stayed down. Surgery was 10-9-06 and nothing has come back yet!! You are not as hungry as you think you are. It's just bad habits. Wanting to eat all the time, but remember the band was a life-changing event. We have to break our bad habits. I had my first adjustment a week ago and I'm still full. Even when my stomach is grawning, I'm full.
  4. I had band surgery on 10-9-06, the doctor suggest not to drink carbonated drinks but if you must, let sit opened 1/2 hour and then drink. I'm not a big soda drinker but I used to have my Diet Mt. Dew every morning, now I drink the diet Dr. Pepper when I want something different. The sweet carmel taste is thrist quenching. Also over ice helps to weaken the carbonation. I haven't had a problem doing this method. Also I purchased 3 oz. bathroom cups and drink from those. It lets me know how much I'm drinking without measuring or over doing it. Also when I make pudding, I divide it up into the cups and cover with clear seal. It's ready to eat and measured already. The easier your right foods are to get to, the more likely you will go the right path.
  5. I had surgery 10-9-06, did real well the first 2 weeks. The next 2 weeks, I gained a few pounds because of the diet change to cream soup, pudding etc. The doctor expalined that if you eat carbs(potatoes, bread, pasta etc) you will gain weight even if your total calorie intake is low. I had my first adjustment 11-8-06, I do fill full. However those old habits of eating when I'm not hungry are still with me. The band is a tool and not magic like the bypass would be. Even when I feel hungry, it's like I don't have room for the food and really have to eat SLOW. Since 9-25-06 when I started my 2 week liquid, I have lost 25 pounds.
  6. My lapband surgery was 10-23-06, everything going well. But now I'm getting hungry and can eat about 8 oz. of food. Do I need an adjustment? How does the doctor determine when adjustment is needed. What all does the adjustment do? Does it just make a smaller opening for food to pass into larger stomach? Does it have anhything to actually do with hunger? Help please.
