Dr. Miranda told me that I could only have things that I could drink during the liquid phase. I stuck to that through the 21st day. I would say no, but I might be wrong. Hope everything is going well for you. Mark
  2. I found this recipe online and wanted to share. I used many fat-free ingredients to make to as healthy as possible. I love Greek dressing and this satisfied my cravings for it!! Ingredients 1 cup Hellman's light mayonnaise 1 cup plain lowfat yogurt (I used fat free Greek dressing) 8 oz feta cheese, (I used fat free feta cheese) 1/2 cup red wine vinegar (I used about 1/4 since it is so potent) 3 Tbsp olive oil 2 tsp dried oregano (I added extra since I love oregano!!) (1 clove garlic, optional) Directions (1 serving = 1 rounded tablespoon) Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender and mix until smooth.

  4. Congrats on your surgical date! You are going to have a blast in Tijuana! I went to Wal-Mart and stocked up on bottled water and also went to Revolutionary Avenue, which was really fun! I didn't get to go to the casino, but I hope to on another trip to Tijuana. The Marriott was a great place to stay and they really took care of us there. The restaurant has a special "Dr. Ortiz" menu where patients can eat free broth, apple juice, and popsicles during their stay! Good luck!! Mark
  5. I am like most people and was scared about the weight loss during the pre-op diet. I ended up losing 15 lbs, which is what Dr. Miranda requested. Some great tips are to eat Fiber Choice Weight Management tablets (http://www.fiberchoice.com/Products_wm.aspx) and eat steamed edamame, which is an approved green vegetable that is high in protein, which will keep you full longer. Hope this helps and I look forward to hearing how wonderful your weight loss journey is. Keep your head up!!! The scale will go down!!! Mark

  8. I have been going to a local authentic Greek restaurant and eating a side of gyro meat with a small Greek salad. Does anyone know if gyro meat is healthy? It doesn't seem fatty or greasy. I get full off a small amount and feel full for about 5 - 6 hours after eating. Thanks for any input! Mark
  9. Dama, I thought about you when I read that!!!! LOL!!! Mark

Sometimes I don't feel like eating a whole lot either. That's odd for me too because when I used to go into a feeding frenzy even small children were not safe!!! That's a joke by the way. I sometimes just make a smoothie with extra protein powder in it. This not being hungry is a fairly new sensation for me.

good work! a real mile stone. I talked to a person who never needed a fill for a while, they were filled up by small fills and not hungry between meals.

  12. Congrats on your hard work paying off!!! That is an amazing accomplishment!!!
  13. Hey Deb! Try taking the Fiber Choice Weight Management tabs. I took 5 throughout the day during my preop diet and it really helped with hunger pangs. This brand has the highest content of fiber and also contains Chromium picolinate for fat burning. Check it out: http://www.fiberchoice.com/Products_wm.aspx Hope this helps!! You will do great!!! Mark
  14. My temperatures are usually normal, around 98.6 degrees. I checked my temperature today since I was feeling a little sluggish and it was 99.5. I called Dr. So at the OCC and he said this was normal since my body is still adjusting to having a foreign object in it. He said to keep it monitored and to call if it goes above 100 degrees. I feel much better about this after talking to Dr. So. Mark
  15. Thanks for the kind words everyone! I haven't had a fever or nausea in a few days, so I think it was just my body adapting. I feel great now! I will call the OCC if I start to feel bad again. I love the support on here! Thanks!! Mark
  16. I am post-op day 9 and at times get a fever of around 99 - 100. Is this normal during the healing process? When I take Tylenol, the fever usually subsides. Thanks!! Mark

  18. Hey! I am currently on day 9 of the post-op diet. My favorite soup is egg drop soup, so I ordered egg drop soup with no egg. It was so amazing!!! Tasted so good and I didn't have to strain anything!! Try that next time you order. Hope all is going well for you!! Mark
  19. Hey Stacey!!! I have the same feeling and it seems like gas pressure. I can't wait for this to subside!!! Hope all is well!! Mark
  20. Thanks to everyone!!! I am feeling so much better today!!!!
  21. I was banded on Sept 10 and have felt nausea the past three days. I called the OCC about this and they recommended Maalox. It has helped a little, but I still have nausea. I don't have any port pain and have only eaten clear liquids (broth) and liquid yogurt. The liquid yogurt seems to be the only drink that doesn't nauseate me. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what do you recommend? Thanks!!
  22. Hey!! I was banded at the OCC on Sept. 10 and feel great, except for the gas pain. The Gas-X strips don't help very much and it seems as though the broths give me gas pressure. Has anyone experienced this and do you have any good remedies? Thanks!!!
  23. Banded this morning and already back at the Marriott. I feel totally amazing!!!!! Wow!!!!!!

I thought you stayed over night? I can't get over how well some of OCC patients feel - my husband was out for days. Are you in Phoenix - looks like ir from our pic?

  24. What you said about Lindsay is true. I was waiting for someone to say that!

  25. Hey! I am in the process of the pre-op diet as well, so I feel your pain!! I have been taking the Fiber Choice tablets for Weight Management and they have helped with the hunger pangs!! Hope this helps!! Good luck with your banding!!
