  1. well just to give you all a laugh, im 43 years old, i was on birth control pills, stop taking them because i was getting bloody noses and the very next month i ended up pregnant!! All my children are married and out of this house, i am a grandma of a 4 year old, and a 1 year old. But the lords will was not what i was expecting, so here we go on having another child. A true blessing.

WHAT THE???? YOU ARE PREGNANT? I am absolutely shocked.

  2. Well, I don't exactly have "experience" but I am 7wks today!!! I plan to keep my fill that I currently have. I was pretty tight but it seems since I got pregnant, I'm a little loser. Weird cuz I thought for sure it would be tighter. But I feel like I'm at a good sweet spot with my band and I intend to keep it that way!! My Ob/Gyn just by coincidence is married to a doctor that does Lapband fills! So I feel comfortable knowing she will refer any questions to him for his "free" input...

I had not yet met my goal, so I do not plan to gain much weight (if any) while pregnant. I plan to continue eating as I was before pregnancy, and I was losing approx 1-2 lbs per month as I am eating now. My doc said as long as baby is growing during the pregnancy and I feel like I am eating the right foods, then she is fine with me not gaining weight or gaining minimal weight. She explained that even if I'm eating minimally but eating a balanced diet, then the baby will take what it needs. She also reminded me that prenatals are super important for me and I MUST take them!

Oh, and as far as the port. I can feel it now, but it's not visible to the eye unless I press in on that area. From where it is, I am guessing I will be able to see it once I get very pregnant (8 months or so)

So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that 1) My band won't get too tight 2) I won't gain much weight 3) That I won't have a problem with hearburn

I know this was written over a year ago........but I have never, ever, ever, heard of planning on gaining no weight while pregnant or very little. My daughter is 6 months pregnant right now and I have been to many of her doctor visits and this is not what her doctor says.

  3. I love yoga, but you use your core and I was told to stay away from core for 30 days. So use caution - you don't want to mess up your band and move too fast. I would wait, and I agree walking, exercise where you don't use core is great. Make sure you've given yourself some time to heal. (Today is the first day of the rest of your life - so you do have time).

I was told by staff in Mexico to wait one month.

  4. Thank you Crazycoolbutterfly. :)

    Lisa,

Let me tell you, you know the phrase, it takes one to know one. The reason, I am saying this is because when I first started on this forum, there were several people who totally inspired me. You have blown me away with all that you have accomplished. When I would be stressed over plateaus or down on myself, I would come here and read the messages that you, Shelby, Sabrina, Carrie, Angie would post to my threads and others. It really is amazing how far you can go when you have support, even when it is through the internet. And along the way, there were a few more that inspired me too like Debbie, Ashley, Robbyn and quite a few others, so if I forgot to include your name, sorry. When I went through the process and classes to become banded, they told me that a support group was a necessity and let me just say, it truly is. Thank you for being you.

Debbie, you are one of the people that has awe inspired me. When you came on here, you were a woman on a mission and Wow, Wow, Wow. You have really just taken the bull by the horns, or so to say, and with your hard work and determination, you have transformed yourself into this strong, athletic woman and one hot mama. By the way, I would love to see a new pic of you, your last one was last year. :)

I absolutely love this forum and thank all of you for being my inspirations.

(PS, I finally remembered how to update my pic so I added an updated picture that was taken last weekend.)

    Hugs,

    Kristi

I am truly happy for all of your successes. Personally, I have stopped coming to this forum for a while because those of you who have lost 100+ pounds are the only ones posting. Is anyone else out there struggling? I have found the whole process of lap band surgery in Mexico to be one LONG, HARD journey. Nothing about it is easy. I didn't get to be obese because I was healthy emotionally. I am still the same person as I was before surgery with the same issues and addiction to food. There are no follow ups or care for how one is doing psychologically. Some of us aren't strong enough to "take the bull by the horns". If I understood how to utilize hard work and determination within me, every diet I ever tried would have worked. I don't know of any support groups. I have no family members or friends who are overweight and I am just out here drowning alone. It has been 10 months since lap band surgery and I have lost 55 lbs. I have about 88 lbs to go still. My knees are killing me so excercise is hard and painful. After how much weight loss were you able to excercise Kristi?

  5. I've had my band since 7/26/10 and have had 2 fills (both with fluoroscopy). The first was 6.0 mls and I had only noticed restriction with foods like white bread and had minimal weight loss (7 pounds in 1 month). I had a second fill a month later of 1.5 mls and I then noticed restriction. The problem I am having is that I am unsure if it is me that is chewing poorly or eating too fast but I am so inconsistent with the amount of food I can eat from day to day or hour to hour. Some days I can barely get a protein shake down before 1pm and other days I can eat several pieces of thin crust pizza or even several crunchy tacos before noticing any restriction. I have had several PBing incidences since my last fill at the end of October but I have been trying to be more observant as to how and what I am eating...still seems inconsistent. I am a woman who really has a problem with retaining water so I notice a dramatic tightness during that week of the month. I have noticed that I have often found myself avoiding solid food and going to protein shakes, etc over the last few months to help avoid any PB episodes since I am so scared to hurt my pouch...which most likely accounts for why I am only down another 20 pounds in 2 months...and stuck there. I finally have time off work to get a recheck in 2 days to see what is going on. Just thought I would throw the question out there and see if any of you have had the same experiences.

Thanks for listening. I feel like such a loser. I am a medical professional and feel like I should have a better handle on this than I do. I am certainly finding this journey much more difficult than I expected.

    Christy,

I can really relate to this post. Thank you for sharing. I was banded 2 days after you. You were probably leaving as I was coming to the OCC. I too feel like a loser at times. The issues at hand are so much more complicated than "Why would you eat more than you should?" We obviously became over weight because we have issues with food that are very difficult to get past. I understand what you were going through. I'm really happy that you are feeling better now!!!

  6. I think this has been addressed before, but I am freaking out over my hair falling out!!!!!!! I had lap band surgery 4 months ago. I take a multi vitamin every day, eat 3 meals a day and get plenty of protein. Why is this happening? When does it stop? I normally have thick hair and now it's thin. I am so sick and tired of strands of hair on my clothes, furniture, pillows, etc. It's the worst when I brush it or shampoo it! Has this happened to anyone else? Please tell me I won't end up bald!
