  1. Every doctor is diffrent, but if you are eating right, and moving, they may do it, but also 4 weeks your body is healing, and will retain a bit then lose. You posted this a while ago, so I am interested to see how it is going now for you. I just had my second fill, wish it was with Dr.Ortiz, but I had to settle, lol, and down 50pds!! So the scale will start to move again!! Wish I did this years ago, but at least I am living life now!! So happy!!
  2. I never saw that anyone posted so sorry!!!! Yes my weight loss has been gradual but steady, walking, some weights and protein first.. Down 50pds to date..yay!! Feel so good, still look at pictures though and think, can I tell, but, I can feel it especially those little things such as crossing my legs, clothes fitting, fitting in chairs with no problem...Just little things stop me and say, wow!!! I would still like to lose about 30 more!! Things are well...keep going everyone!!!
  3. I just wanted to updated those who stop in and share with those who are thinking about doing this..I am now 5 weeks out and feel amazing!!! I am just so happy that I have made this my choice, and also the choice of Dr.Ortiz as my doctor...I am now 35pds down, no fills yet, just working out, and eating well. I have no pain, that did not last that long. The first few days yes, but with each day it got better and better..Now I am just living life, and I am smiling so much more inside and out...I will come back and update as I go..
  4. HI Bree, first off congrats on your weight loss!! I know it probably feels bitter sweet especially now you are gaining..To be honest I am not sure, I would say go with what the doctors say..I had the lap band march 9th and I am doing well, but one thing the doctor said that sticks with me is, I have to do the work, the band is a tool...I am not sure on your diet, but also, the hard part is...to push away...sure we CAN eat more, but we are not suppose to eat more..that is a tough tool to learn..I am learning to measure things and to drink my water...I wish you the best..but dont ever give up on this journey!!! I wish you the best!!
  5. I hope it went well, and it doesn't matter if they are happy, its your choice!!! They will come around once they see you home safe and sound, healing and getting healthy....all my best..
  6. Since the day that I first decided to do this to now, well it has flown by. The sealing deal for me in taking this step was talking to a friend who also needed to lose weight, wanted to join me in this journey. That was helpful, because I really did not want to do this alone. Now, after it is all done, I think I would have been just fine but you never know until you do it but if anyone is reading this saying I can't do this by myself, trust me, you are in safe hands, it was great. I had surgery March 9th, had all my prep work and met with the nutrionist who was so sweet, my heart and lungs checked, I was good. Lost my 10pds before too. THen it was off to the back in my own little room, which was very comfortable and relaxing. Then I had the chance to meet the doctor Dr.Ortiz, he was funny, confident, and reasuring. I was good. (He is not to hard on the eyes either). From there met the rest of the team and wow they are fantastic, all had great smiles and just made me feel good. Soon, surgery was over!Just like that! They had me up and walking right away, and the doctors all came in and talked to me regarding food, water, etc. I told him I wanted to be a representitive for him in AB. At this point I was just so happy I wanted to share it all, still do.lol.. SInce surgery I have been fallowing my liquid diet and I am down 12 more pds. I do feel some restriction so that is great, and making sure I get water in too. Why did I decide to do this? I was tired of this feeling, like alot of you..I was tired of avoiding functions, friends, and life in general. I refused to go home for friend reunions because I just didnt want to feel like the fat one, even though I was..Also, when I left home, I use to model, and that is what alot of people remember me by, so I really didnt want the looks..As I get older, it is more now, I want to live life, I want to kayak, hike and just get out there more...So here I am..one week done..and moving forward....Excited to see what comes next...
  7. Sorry I did not see this right away!!! Still a bit tender,, went back to work on Monday, and following Dr.Ortiz liquid diet, and now I get, drinkable yogurts!!yay- exciting! but to be honest not finding anything to bad..I have been kind of avoiding my friends for now, while I try to get stronger in my head... And with my pre op diet and post of down 22pds, so very happy!!! I am going to start walking now..I know he said 4 weeks but just even a bit more movement..I wish you the best!!!! Glad you are feeling good!!!
  8. Very good question, I have heard people stay around 700-800 but to be honest not completely sure, and I hope someone can come and set it straight. I was just banded on Mar 9th so am still on a liquid diet, and will be on a tight diet for the next 20 days..yay me!!
  9. as of today I am down 20pds, 10 pre op and 10 post op..It will probably slow down after the liquid part, but by then I can start to workout too..Oh and I almost forgot about Dr.Martinez..wow..what a great Dr. and was great to talk to, and ahh nice smile on him too!!! lol!!
  10. How are you doing mmmgirl81?? I think I seen you as I was leaving and you were going in..not sure..but how is your recovery? feeling good?
  11. thanks everyone!! mmmgirl I am so happy for you as well, I was not too sore but the 5hr plane ride made it a bit more tender! However, it is all worth it!! And thank you canuk!!!
  12. could I possibly use the word "relax" anymore??lol..but I was!!!!
  13. If anyone is reading this and is concerned about the travel to Mexico, please dont. It was great! I flew down on March 8th, the day before my surgery from Canada , I got to relax at the beautiful Marriot hotel, were the staff was fantastic!!!you let them know you are visiting with the OCC and they will take amazing care of you, it was so pleasing. The next day, after the hotel staff wished me the best, off to the hospital I went.. There were other women and men there traveling from all over, that also impressed me. I met some great people, lucky me!! Soon after that I met with the nutritionist Miranda, who was so sweet and caring, and talked real with me, and it was exactly what I needed. I also had my heart and lungs checked and was all cleared..From this point I was taken to the back where the nurses were so amazing, caring and funny..I felt really relaxed, the rooms were more like little hotel suites. Then....Dr.Ortiz came in, umm not to hard on the eyes..and he was even more funny and caring..He asked me if I was nervous and he said he was too, trying to break the ice, he was just joking but he made me laugh and felt very relaxed..Soon after that, I was taken in for surgery, and met the rest of the team, all of them were fantastic have to say they really took care of me and reassured myself that, indeed I was in good hands..and before I knew it surgery was done..Just like that!! They had me up and walking as soon as possible...Then after a few hours, off to the hotel for relaxing..the doctors gave me their numbers if I needed anything. .I did not stay long in Mexico, kind of wish I did spend an extra day there just to relax and maybe visit the staff once more....However back across the border I went, day after surgery, and no issues at all, no concerns nothing.. THen back on the plane home...and back to reality...I told Dr.Ortiz that he should have a reunion, because I would definitly go back for a visit..In total from pre op to now down 15pds..feeling good!!! Good luck to all!! If anyone has any questions or concerns I would be more than happy to answer them!!
  14. Mine has a warning as well, and I have done nothing that you have mentioned?? but on a lighter note...I leave for Mexico after work tomorrow!!!!Then surgery on Friday!!! Very excited!! and a bit nervous....
  15. I have a couple of questions regarding this, one how far ahead do you have to book, what was his cost, and is it close to down town Las Vegas..Thank you!!
  16. For myself it is two shakes a day, either slimfast or Atkins, or a high protein shake, and either a sensible dinner such as grilled chicken and green salad (dark green) and as for salad dressing, the spray kind, or a lean cusine.. I am having surgery next fri and so far have only lost 6pds out of my 12. Which is not bad, but still have work to do...Good luck!! How have you done since being banded??
  17. Good for you!! Keep us all posted and updated...I will be there March 9th, really excited!!
  18. I am scheduled for March 9th as well...I am looking forward to this journey!!
