Did you feel safe through your journey to OCC?
FurEllie replied to dreamhappy07's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Exactly my experience. Getting in, you just drive on in. Getting I was the only rider in the van, we pulled up, I showed them ID, the driver opened all the doors, they asked me if that was my suitcase, what was in it, I said "Personal items" and was sent on my way. I have a feeling that since OCC transports so many people back and forth, they're known by the BP. -
I lost 6 pounds according to a "real" scale. I weighed 206 the last time I went to the doctor but 200 on my scales. I was 200 on OCC's scales which I'm sure are more accurate than my $10 15 year old Walmart specials I DID stick to the liquid diet except the Sat. night before (went to a family dinner and picked the lowest cal/highest protein dish and didn't finish) and then had a steak the night before Monday surgery I didn't bring a heating pad, but to be honest, I haven't had gas "pains" - just gas, lol. Bring something to read. Between the hotel and the clinic you have a lot of "down" time. My laptop is usually glued to my hip so I brought a bunch of magazines and books and did some catch up reading. AND NO, NO HOUSEWORK FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS! (this is not a requirement, but it sounds good to me ) And I wouldn't carry your daughter around at first.

My paperwork says no heavy lifting (25+ pounds) for 3 days. I was banded on the 4th and while I don't think I'm up to running a mile (let's be honest, I haven't been up to running a mile for decades), I was able to carry my luggage around when I got home. Do you anything specific you need to be doing?

I felt fine - but was VERY gassy. I was eating GasX strips like candy and made several runs to the restroom on the plane, but I'm sure I still embarassed myself while I was sleeping Be sure to wear comfortable clothes. I had on a Fruit of the Loom sports bra thing (was more like a "shelf bra" like some bathing suits - my boobs were all over my body), a loose shirt and some pants with elastic that I got from Lands End.

I talked to Dr. Romero (are all Mexican men handsome and wonderfully nice? I swear I love Mexico.....) and he said going on the 16th would be fine for me and I'd certainly know if there was a problem by the time I left for Europe. So.....anyone else for the 16th? Picking out flights will be interesting. I envy those of you who can do everything in a day

Over and done with A total breeze. Dr. Ortiz is perfection, the clinic superb, and his mother - wow, just wow! =D> The plane ride back was interesting. I was passing gas like crazy (and no dog to blame it on). I went to the restroom MANY times but goodness knows what those poor people suffered through when I was asleep......

Well, I leave tomorrow and I STILL haven't lost any weight. This is really freaking me out. Maybe I'm "sleep eating"! But if I am, I'm "sleep driving 10 miles each way" too since I don't have any bad food in the house any more

Medicine and crossing boarder

I've been on a lot of this stuff when I was a LOT skinnier Cholesterol problems run in the family. My mother's 5'1", has never weighed over 105 in her life (except when she was pregnant) and has high cholesterol. Migraines I've had since I was 13. Birth control - well, I'm hoping the weight loss makes that even MORE needed Prevacid for the ulcer I got in 2000 weighing 125 (I'm 200 now) because of all the meds I'd taken for migraines, and iron I think I'll be on until I no longer have periods. -
I've been taking the fiber pills with the chromium whatever in it. I still want a steak, lol
-
I'm hoping it's one of those "You really better take this seriously" threats and not something that would really happen. I HAVE been adhereing to the diet - moreso after a couple of days and I started it a bit early since I knew I was going out with friends last weekend. I have a family dinner this weekend, but I can eat salad and not raise suspicions. They know I need to lose weight so even though they don't know about the surgery, they're not cruel enough to say "No, eat the steak, potatoes and dessert!".

GOT GAS?....Michele's saga
FurEllie replied to cleo6666's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
OK, this sounds odd - but congrats on having parasites -
Kinda makes me wish I'd lied about my original weight - they'd be so happy I got "down" to 200 pounds (Lori, you didn't read that.......)

LOL, I didn't even think of that I do have some hard core narcs for my migraines, but like you said, I can just take a few with me. Hmmmm - I wonder how much birth control pills are worth on the Mexican black market.....wish I had something "good" to sell to finance the operation -

Well: Lipitor Birth control Iron (prescrip) Prevacid Migraine medications (up to 4) So yeah, I'll be bringing a few I'll keep them all in the original bottle and just rattle a lot. -
If I get sent home for not losing weight I'm going to cry I've been drinking the protein shakes like I'm supposed to so my liver SHOULD be in better shape than it was if that's the issue. I know I had liver tests done in December and all was okie dokie but I don't think it's the liver FUNCTION they're concerned about, just the condition of the liver. Who knows. I'll just keep drinking this disgusting stuff, feel starved and hope for the best!!

Ah, OK. I've never driven to Mexico - didn't even know there was a "walking line", lol.
-
Personally, I like it. You can order samples (I ordered the "travel packets" for samples) to give you a taste first. I've lost 3 pounds in a week - you're doing GREAT!!
-
Help! I've eaten the kitchen bare.
FurEllie replied to Kaelin's G-Ma's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I did that the last week before the pre-op diet. Now I'm hoping the pre-op diet will get me to the weight I was originally at!!! -

Was wondering the same thing myself. I was prepared to put them in separate bottles but it would be nice to combine for the few days I'm there. -
10 pounds in 3 weeks with NO FILL is great! Just think how excited you would have been to have lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks before you were banded
-
I am scheduled March 5 So far I've been just MISERABLE on the liquid diet and haven't lost a pound, lol. I think it's the Irish in me that kicks in and saves me from starving Good luck!!
-
I think I will too. My surgery is the 5th of March (yipee!) so 6 weeks would put me into April. I'm going to Europe at the end of April though so I'm going to ask while I'm in TJ if it would be better to get it then or when I get back. 6 weeks puts me 1 week before I leave for Europe so I THINK I'd see a problem before I left - just want to check with the Dr to make sure The bus/trolley actually sounds like fun!
-
Dumb question - does the OCC van not have to wait in the same line?
-
Thanks, Pamela!! I just had one of the Unjury boullion packets and it was quite good. I might take a few of those as a back up. I just have a sneaking feeling I'm going to hungry and might attack the person sitting next to me who has a meal

I've been eating samples I ordered. They are all lo carb. The closest GNC is about 60 miles from here but I did buy some of the Isopure RTD at the outlet store (the nearest GNC) and also had some samples from vitalady with the powder. It all still tastes nasty, lol
