Question about bruising???
fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I was hoping some other bandsters who are also taking the Biotin could let us know if they're bruising more\longer????? I'll ask my Doc next time I go if it could be the Biotin.... it's the only thing that I've been doing differently.... -

Question about bruising???
fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I was banded 3 months ago and am still bruised. That's why I was wondering if it may be the Biotin. I do bruise easy, but they used to go away pretty quickly. I did have a bruise where they gave me the shot, but it finally did go away. I take ibuprophen on occasion, maybe once a week if I get a headache. -
I was a size 8\9 about 3 years ago and that felt pretty darn good [even though it didn't last very long!] If I could be a size 8 and have a boob lift [maybe a small implant] and tummy tuck, I'd be in heaven! I think I'd finally be comfortable in my own skin. NEVER have known what that feels like.....

Haven't noticed that... yet!! =D> Hopefully I will though, that's awesome!! I wear a 9 to 9.5 now [i'd LOVE to wear a 9 in clothes!!] Soon..... -
I noticed lately that I bruise easily and they stay a LONG time!! I still have bruises around my port scar and the very top scar on my belly. [They're very light, but you can still see them] There's no pain, my port scar is still a little tender. I had my first fill at the end of May and Dr. Romero saw my belly and didn't say anything. I wasn't concerned then though, but I am now. I'm taking Biotin and started taking it in around Feb. Could this be causing my bruising? I know Vitamin K can cause you to bruise easily..... I don't know about Biotin though. Anyone else having bruising issues??

Anyone going for a fill on July 29th??
fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hello Mona, Yeah, it's expensive cause I'm flying out of a little airport close to home. I know it would be cheaper if I went to Philly or Pitts, but don't want the drive time\bother. I did check Travelocity and to fly out of State College is about the same... 577, 559, 569..... but some of those flights have late take offs and\or arrivals and some are over night flights or have multiple plane changes or long layovers [which I don't want to do! ] I'm a fuss-pot! I picked the take off time I wanted so I could get my fill that same day and my departure time @ 12:30pm so I don't have to get up at 4 am to leave. I'm doing a 1 day-1 night quicky stop. Like I said.... I'm a fuss-pot. -
That's alway's happened to me.... that's why after 10 or 20 lbs I'd give up and go hog wild again and gain it all back. Can't do that as bad now!! I'm stuck right now, but NOT discouraged! I know when I get my sweetspot-fill I'll be back on track. Just have to stay focused and keep comming on the forum to lean on you all!!

fat2nrml replied to fat2nrml's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hopefully your fill has kicked in Kimmie and you won't NEED to go back! [Although.... I don't need an excuse to go back to the OCC all those cute Doc's!! SSSHHHH, don't tell Hubby! -
I hope you're right, I know how upset you've been about your restriciton not being very good..... fingers crossed!! I go July 29th for my second fill and am hoping that it's a good one. I had Chinese for lunch and ate the MOST I've eaten in one sitting since before I was banded.

I planted some tomato plants in buckets in early May and just yesterday I transplanted them in a little patch out front of our house. [We don't have a yard to speak of.... what yard we did have is now taken up by the pool.] I have a few cherry, early girl and big boy plants. I got a few small tomato's already..... now to keep out the critters.... do moth balls really work??? :-?

Hey guys I am back... sore but back...
fat2nrml replied to C1BandedBabe's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Trina, Try sipping on some hot tea or coffee to soothe the pain, it helped mine. Cold stuff seemed to make mine hurt more, but hot\warm\room temp felt better. We talked about this on other threads.... I think alot of the pain is refered pain. It's actually pain from your stomach, but feels like it's in your shoulder or collar bone area. I also had the discomfort in my port area and found if I cupped my hand over the area while I walked, kind of supporting the area, it helped. When you sit at the computer [or where ever] make sure you sit up as straight as you can. I'm a sloucher and it really aggrevated my gut. You'll feel better soon, I promise!! Best wishes, Darlene P.S. You ARE allowed fudgecicles! -

I wouldn't go anywhere at night [but that's my opinion.... and I'm a chicken! ] You all will be safe during the day to shop. It's nice you have a group to go with. I've been to TJ twice and never had or seen any trouble either time. I'm comming back next month and am not afraid ..... during the day. You'll probably see police driving around while you're there. They ride on the back of pick up trucks, fully armed and dressed in black with masks covering their faces except their eyes They scared us at first, but one of the shop owners told us they were good guys, there for OUR protection. Enjoy yourself,... no worries! Best wishes, Darlene

I take biotin every day and have since earlier this year. I was banded 3-25 and have not experienced any hair loss [any more than normal] I do make sure I get my protein, I was worried that I would loose my hair and it's fine and thin to begin with. Not sure about the growth after the fact.... maybe ask a good hair dresser.

Make sure you keep us updated!! Have fun and best wishes!! Darlene > -
P.S. When I slouched, my port area would hurt too. Try to sit up straight, especially if you have a "sitting" job that you'll be going back to soon. Mine also bothered me when I bent over, almost like something was catching and getting caught under my rib, but that went away too.

Did you ever watch the short video on the OCC homepage? It show's you a "cartoon" type video of where and how the band's placed. You can't feel the band, because it is wrapped around your stomach, but the port is sewn to the muscle under your skin on your left, front side.... right around your belly button area. I can feel mine, but everyone's different. I didn't feel actual "pain" after my sugery, discomfort discribes it better. That's different for everyone too, it probably took me a good 3 weeks for my discomfort to subside, but I think that's minimal considering that I had surgery on my stomach. I took ibuprophen and drank warm\hot drinks and walked, walked, walked!! Hope that helped.... anything else, just ask!! Darlene
