LAP BAND QUESTION

I GO TO THE DR FOR MY FIRST MEET AND GREET THE 13TH OF JANUARY. I AM WANTING THE LAP BAND BUT SOME PEOPLE I HAVE SEEN ON HERE HAS LOST WEIGHT BEFORE HAND I WAS WONDERING IF THAT IS AA REQUIREMENT FOR EVerYONE?

Prior to your surgery you go on a preop diet and are expected to lose about 5 % of your body weight. This weight loss makes your liver more pliable with less fat on it and that is important for the surgeon as your liver is lifted in order to access the top of the stomach and band it.

If your BMI is above 32 they will want you to lose a little weight. This may vary from doctor to doctor,

My surgery was dependent on me losing the necessary pounds before hand, I had to lose roughly 11 pound. I think most need to lose a small mount of weight before surgery. Good luck with your appointment.

WOW THANKS FOR THE OVERWHELMING SUPPORT AND ANSWERS. UGH THAT IS GONNA BE HARD TO DO THOUGH BUT I PLAN TO LOOK AT EVERYONES PICTURES FAITHFULLY AND STAY M-O-T-V-A-T-E-D!!!!!!!!!
