wound care

I just had my band put in on Feb. 18th so far so good I have been able to follow the post op diet to a tea with alot of emotion involved but I have lost 10 lbs. just on the post op witch gives me encouragement. But today I had some trouble with my incision where the port was put in, the tape has come up on one side and it started bleeding with a little puss in the blood. There isn't any redness around the wound so I really dont think it is infected but I didn't dare take the tape off instead I just put a bandage over the tape. I have also noticed that 12 days out my incision is still very sore and very hard underneith witch I'm assuming is the port I'm feeling. Can anyone tell me how I should handle the tape and bleeding? Should I be doing some type of wound care or just let the tape wear off by it's self? Is it normal to still be real sore and for the wound to be so hard underneith?

They did put glue on all of the incisions and then they put tape over the large incision where the port is. Right before I left the clinic the large incision started bleeding through my clothing and the nurse took me back and just stuck another piece of tape over it. I haven't had any problems until yesterday and it started bleeding again. I tried emailing Dr. Ortiz but haven't heard back from him yet and I hate being an over perinoid patient that bothers him all the time. Right now I just put a large bandage over the whole thing to keep the blood off of my clothing. It's not bleeding alot but I don't think it should be at all. Is it normal to feel the port under your skin? I can feel the entire shape of the port under where the incision is.

I also can feel the complete port, so I think that that is fairly normal. But I DO NOT beleive the bleeding is normal. Take it from the previous responses and get it checked out. Good luck and let us know how you are doing

Thanks for everyones feed back, Dr. So called me tonight and said it sounds like I just have a build up of pressure around the port that needs to drain and gave me instructions on what to do from here so I feel much better now. He said if it gets worse or I start feeling alot of pain then to get checked but he said this is just normal for some people. If it gets worse and I have to go in I will let you know.
