MY FIRST TIME EATING AFTER SURGERY

Recommended Posts

Well,I would first like to say......the band is the Bomb! =D>

Don't listen to every thing you hear.... <_< ..."oh, you will never be able to eat meat again" " this and that is going to get stuck" I had salmon and crab legs and a salad....portions were so small, it scared even me. Nothing got stuck! I ate untill I got satisfied and left it alone. I waited an hour and drank a viamin water, by the way they are sooooooooooooo good!

Since having the band I have no desire to snack! Small portions seem automatic! I'm so happy that I'm not the kind of person that is spook out about everything I hear. Everyone is different! Quantania (my band) she is all about business! No time to waste ,no time to fear about what ifs....lets make this happen!!!!! We paid for an expensive appetite suppressant! So let's use it ! Look forwad to eating solids and get busy with allowing the band to do what you hired it to do!

Be Blessed ><'

YOU MIGHT WANT TO LOOK AT HOW MANY CALORIES ARE IN VITAMIN WATER. THERE ARE ABOUT 130 IN 1 BOTTLE. :angry: I LOVE DRINKING PROPEL, THEY HAVE A LOT OF FLAVORS AND THEY ARE ALL GOOD AND THEY ONLY HAVE 10. :rolleyes: I KNOW THAT EVERY CALORIE COUNTS WHEN TRYING TO LOOSE WEIGHT.

Generally speaking, you don't have to worry about getting stuck, pbing, and sliming until you get a fill or two.

Glad everything is working out well. A lot of people find their appetites are not suppressed until they get filled, but I had little appetite until about 4 or 5 weeks out from surgery.

I think attitude also has a lot to do with band success. If you have a positive attitude about the band and how it is working for you, you tend to cooperate with the process and have more success. Sounds like you are well on your way to having the band be a great success for you.

No calories in Kirkland vitamin water.

Emphasis on the generally speaking. I pb'd at least once before my first fill.

Hi Monet;

It's Cindy, I was sitting next to you at Dr. Ortiz's office the day of your pre-op, day of my surgery. I am so glad that solids are going great for you. I have been doing well with mine, my only "beef" is that EVERYTHING goes down with out and problems or restriction, BUT it's ok I've been reading "The Lap Band Companion" and everything I feel "and don't feel" is normal according to the book. My first fill is 4/5/08 so hopefully then I will feel "some" restriction, but if not- just keep going till the next one!!! Good luck and glad you're doing great!

Thank you Cindy for the book... I looked it up at Amazon.com and found it. I think this book will be a great handbook thru this whole process. I love this forum and all its people and resources. =D>

Monet... I can't wait to be where you are... I'm maintaining 177 for the last 2 days. I'm thinking I will have to continue an Atkins type diet when I do start to eat. I'll try to eat food in order: protein first, veges/fruit second, then carbs. as recommended by Dr. Miranda. I'll see how that goes. Keep posting... I follow your post closely so I know what to expect when I'm at your stage... ha ha ha... it makes it easier 'cause you're only a week ahead of me.

Like you say! Be blessed ladies!

Hi Hanna;

You are welcome!! The book also has an area (10 pages) that are "what to expect living with a band patient". I told my husband last night to read it. I don't really know what is says, but in the contents it had things like .... being an enabler and not knowing it, coping and dealing, those types of things. So it sounded to me that it would help the whole family. I was too tired to read on how to deal with me so I will leave that to my husband..haha

3 cheers to Monet!!! =D>

Good luck to everyone!!
