Wow did I blow it

Recommended Posts

I can't believe what I did. Last night I was feeling so hungry and deprived and had done great all day. I got home from work at 10:30pm and ate 2 bowls (1/2-3/4cup each) of the Safeway baked potato and bacon soup. It tasted so good!!!I chewed and chewed and chewed and it caused no problems. I thinks it's yorkiemoms fault for mentioning it in the forum.....just teasing really I only have myself to blame!!. Anyway as if that wasn't enough then I ate 4 little dixie cups of vanilla ice cream....my worst enemy is ice cream and I've succommed to it so soon... I am trying to not be so hard on myself but man I feel guilty. Luckily I had no problems from eating that much but maybe that isn't so good afterall. If I would have gotten sick maybe I wouldn't be tempted again but probably not. I am so worried that I've done damage and stretched out my pouch but it's too late now. So for anyone with crazy ideas of splurging take it from me.....DON'T DO IT. The guilt is so bad. Anyway I am back on track today but felt I needed to confess so people know how real this is and it really isn't all in your stomach but in your head.

WOW I am writing this after reading all the responses. Just to clarify it was over about a 3-4 hour period not all at one sitting. I hadn't eaten anything except jello all day. The ice cream dixies I talked about are 3oz., nofat, no sugar and 70 calories each. I am absolutely blown away by some of the very mean spirited comments made. Thank you to all who've been supportive and kind in your responses, I really appreciate it. As I wrote in the post I was warning anyone who might get a little crazy like I did to not do it and learn from my mistake. I know I shouldn't of had eaten that way and my own guilt and frustration especially after reading these responses have gotten me very frustrated. I am discouraged now from so much negativity but it's only a few people and it takes all types to make this world go around.

Don't worry, I have blown it for a whole week, and I feel terrible! I am starting liquids tomorrow and hopefully that will put me back on track. Hang in there!!! One night of overindulgence is no big deal in the scheme of things!

ARRRRIGHT.... cut that out.

After reading this thread, i went out and had some sumptuous Scholtzky's Potato and Bacon soup with some crackers. MMM MMM Good.

And now, that oreo milkshake is in my sights for dinner. Why doesnt someone mention a succulent steak, or barbecued chicken, or something like that once in a while??? Hmmmmmmm?? Or maybe a small scoop of Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey, or Cherry Garcia...... MMMMMMMMMMMM.

:D

Oh that soups sounds amazing....I will have to track that one down for Sunday when i start creamy soups.

Someone on this forum also posted a homemade potato soup as well...saved it to word doc...hmmmm...I guess maybe I will make it on Sunday and blend the crap out of it. Do chunks of bacon blend? Are little tiny peices okay? We take pills and they go through ok???

Oh and JulieBurns, it's bound to happen and more than once, get back on track and focus on your goal and you will do just fine!

When i hit the creamy stage, I was fine with the bacon chunks. There werent that many, and I was just sure to chew them well. I also liked Wendy's chili. At both places, the family could order regularly, and I felt closer to the old days, just with new dietary requirements. Schlotzky's makes an awesome Chicken and Wild Rice, also. I lived on them.

I'm not saying i'm perfect..I'm saying I didn't eat 2 huge bowls of soup & 4 ice creams on day 7.

My post was meant to be harsh.

I'm saying i'm tired of being a fat ass.I'm forcing myself to be mentally tough & i suggest that anyone else committed to losing their weight get mentally tough too.

Congrats on losing 8 lbs in 8 days.

Well, well, well the claws are coming out!!! Julie, just jump back on the bandwagon! Don't worry about yesterday!! You'll do fine! I had a chocolate chip cookie dough blizzard 2 weeks post-op and although I have not lost 30 lbs in 34 days my weight loss is not chump change nor do I consider my self a "sucker"!

With that being said, as you know, if this becomes a habit, your band won't work! Just make positive food choices and everything will be fine.

I'm sorry but we're all tired of being fat but we don't just wake up from surgery and magically have a new way of eating!!! We will all, at some point or another, fall short of perfection!!! And it's up to us to live and learn!! Julie and I were banded on the same day so I'm sure she was starving and FINALLY had room to eat a decent meal!!! Maybe you didn't eat what she did on day 7 but that's you and you have no right to knock someone down for it. We all have our different challenges that put us in this situation in the first place. I'm sure we all struggle with something different everyday!! Rome wasn't built in a day, Sweetheart!!

you have no right to knock someone down for it.

But i do have that right.

I also feel that i have an obligation to refute people who say what this woman did is ok.It isn't,IMO.

We were told not to do this in fear of band slippage, pouch stretching.

Saying it is ok will lead other people into thinking it is ok.

Cedertown,

I don't know if this helps but I have not yet been banded and have been reading the post here positive and negative. I have common sense and know that this is not the right way to eat after surgery. I believe Julie knows that also and that is why she created this topic and post.

Just wanted to post this so everyone saw the edit. :)

I knew what you were talking about as far as those litte ice creams. So you had like 1 cup of soup and 1 cup of ice cream in a 4 hour period. I've seen posts about post-op dieting mistakes waaaaaay worse than this one. At least you stayed with liquids. ;)

Remember you lost 10 pounds in 1 week after surgery... you're doing great, I'm here to support you buddy. ><'

The supportive comments are meant to get you back on the band wagon (haha), not to tell you it's okay and to keep doing it. I know YOU know this, but not others. ;)

This is a "support group" right? Well although I can't condone the falter in your diet, we are all human and last I heard we all make some mistakes. Therefore I believe that you can get back on the band-wagon and change your eating habits. I know it is difficult for those of us that are perfect....I am not, I make mistakes, I learn from these mistakes, and therefore I am human. I hate to see when people don't want to give a kind word of support to someone who obviously needs it. We have all been on many diets and failed miserably or we wouldn't be here, right? Some people will fail miserably at their band, but they will do so with the knowledge of what went wrong...that is when changes can be made. A lot of my lessons of what I can and can't do have come about by trial and error.

Just keep on trying and some of us will be there to support you if you fail and not be judgemental about it, but tell you that you CAN do it and we want you to do it. I for one will be there to support whoever needs it whether it is good or bad.

Enough said! No more DRAMA please....
