skinnyagain
I just wanna know if there is anyone out in band land that knowing what you know now, would you have NOT had your band placed.? And why?
Blazn
I would absolutely, 100% have it done again. This is the 3rd best decision I have ever made in my life (only behind 1- making Jesus Lord of my life and 2- marrying my wonderful husband)! I am so much healthier & happier. Am I saying that there are not days that my band don't frustrate me? Certainly not, but that is only on those selfish days when my band must stop me from eating rather than my brain! I love my band!! Oh - and for those of you out there with PCOS - I had my insulin level drawn last week and it is down from 29 (which is way, way high) to 7 which is low normal!! I am so ecstatic!! OICU812
Skinny, I've lost 110 lbs. since I was banded in August. I eat less, sleep better, play harder, work out 3-4 times a week instead of sitting on the couch and watching tv, party like a rock star and bang like a porn star. My house is cleaner, projects are actually getting done. Hell yes I'd do it again. My only regret is that I couldn't do it years ago.

nothereanymore
I would as well; I just went to a mini HS class reunion to help get ready for our 30th. And everyone was commenting on how I hadn’t changed over the years, how great and healthy I looked. They have no clue of the changes I made with my band, I can’t imaging even wanting to go if I weighed 275 like I use to, I’m now 145 and love the way I look. I’m a totally different person now than I was before my band and I love the new me! OICU812 you rock!

petnanny
I just wanna know if there is anyone out in band land that knowing what you know now, would you have NOT had your band placed.? And why? If I knew then what I know now I would have never got the band. I was banded May 1st, 2008, I weigh the same as the surgery date. My first fill was June 08 and at the fill in TJ the doctor told me I should have lost some weight and I must eating too much! Well duh! I didnt feel any restriction! So, after leaving and feeling like crap, I decided to never get a fill there again. I got one close to home in July and it was too much so after throwing up everything included water I had to have some removed. Once again no restriction. I got a 3rd fill in Nov and I still dont have restriction. I eat as much as before the surgery and am always hungry. I cant afford to get any more fills and seeing the finance company bill for $300 every month for the next 4 years from the surgery makes me sick to my stomach! Sorry to bring down the high of everyone but, just thought I would let you know that not everyone thinks the band is great!

I felt I had wasted my time and money, but I got my third fill and it was my charm. Everyone's different, you're not going to lose the same or need the same restriction. I understand what you mean about the money too, my situation is pretty bad right now. I feel that my health is top priority, I HAVE to lose this weight or it could cost me my life. I'm glad I went to the OCC for my fills, I never had a problem with the Doc's there. Who did your fill [at the OCC?] Please don't give up, you're just not at your 'sweet spot' yet. Take it from me, you'll KNOW when you get there. Take care and know that you're not alone!! :lb4:
CanadianBandster
I would get it again - I know you asked who would NOT get it...but I had to comment. Yes - I would forsure do it. I too wish I would have done this 10 years ago!!!! I feel and look better than I did in HIGH SCHOOL! I actually enjoy working out, swimming and being physical now! I cant wait for my 2nd fill so I have more restriction again so I can start losing again!
CJen
I am two weeks post-op. Right now my band and I have a love hate relationship. I love the weight loss I see everyday, but I am hungry. I smell food, I cook dinners for my family. I am hungry. That part of my band I hate. I am sure that once I am able to eat again, I will love it.
bigali
I use to be 265 and now I'm 157 in less than 9 months.... Now you ask would I do it again? IN A HEART BEAT!!!! robbynnoel
I really needed to see these posts tonight. Today was my first challenging day since transitioning to the pre op diet and I didn't follow it to the letter. It was a very stressful day. I was grieving the loss of my mom and it was just a stressful day. By 10 am I wanted my husband to pull the car over so we could eat breakfast in a restaurant. It was really struggle for me. Today was the first time I had to acknowledge that I didn't know the difference between emotional hunger and physical hunger. I took a protein shake and bottled water with me so I knew it wasn't true hunger. About 5 pm I gave in 560 calories worth. I felt better after I ate but it really scared me. I have to do this through 4/1/09 and beyond. I came home and really began to have a second thoughts. I needed to see so many positive posts! Thank you thank you. karenlynn79
I would do it over again no hesitation. It's been 2.5 years for me, long journey, baby, and now since having Evee 11 months ago 88 lbs down. I have been too tight, too loose, mad and angry at the band, but I LOVE it. I would NEVER EVER been able to get this far without it, and I know for my whole life I will have this tool to keep me where I want to be............ SheRee
At this point I would NOT have had the band if I had it to do all over again. It is NOY helping me at all. I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and have not lost a single ounce. Yes, I am following all the pickin rules and I have only lost 13 pounds since being baned in Dec. I think I wasted money that I didn't have and wish I had it back instead of the band. Was the heck is restriction anyway. I paid all this money for nothing but tightness with food going down now and then and lots of extra burps. This thing was a waste. I am way depressed and embarressed. KatyG
I'll tell you like it is: the band has given me two really great things: great sex and cute shoes. LOL. I told DH I would suffer with some of the side effects of the band as long as the sex stays as good (it is amazing what you can do when you're skinny and limber, LOL) and as long as I can wear my 'hot girl shoes.' I love being able to wear heels, 3 1/2 inch heels that have a bit of a thicker heel, whenever I want, for however long I want, with no inkling of pain... That being said, when you first get your band, and you are losing weight, you have honeymoon period. You are in LOVE with being successful. I got my size 6 jeans and CRIED with joy. BUT, I want to be honest... the band is not perfect. It gets fickle, for no reason. I get tight for no reason, and can't eat much, and then a couple days later, I can eat more than I wish I could. The tweaking that will be required with your band will go on forever. That is something I wish I could live without. Someday, I may revise to a sleeve... BUT I will ride this band till the wheels fall off. I love being skinny, I love having energy, and I love having a brain that is no longer obsessed with food. The band is a great opportunity. nothereanymore
Yes, in a heartbeat, I would give up my car, my knickknacks, my make up and anything that wouldn’t affect my family to get it. Because I know it not only improved my life, it most likely saved my life. My kids are happier, (because I’m happier) my husband thinks he’s landed the jackpot and is now married to the most beautiful woman in the world (but he said that when I weighed almost 300 pounds – but now I get the feeling that he means it more). Everything is better and that’s sad to say, since it means I wasn’t living life to the fullest and wasted a lot of years being MO – my only regret is I didn’t do it sooner. It’s a chore, its not easy you have to work at it, and some of you with lower BMI’s or if you have medical conditions, you may lose the weight slower – but we all know the story about the tortes and the hare – who won that race. So don’t sweat it, your mental attitude is a great part of your success so try to be positive and I know that’s hard some days. But you will hit your sweet spot, you will reach your goals as long as you follow the program and keep plugging along. Its not how fast you get there – the important part is you just get there and reach your goals! We’re all different – but we can all succeed at this, and remember, we've got each other to help us along!
mona-camille
Yes, I would too. For the simple fact that I would have gained a whole lot more by now if I hadn't. I am not anywhere near goal, but then again, I am not anywhere near 300 pounds and a size 28 anymore either!

Is it not true that you would have gained 13 pounds if you hadn't been banded? Listen, you need to stay positive because you are way too early in this journey to be upset. I am not sure what you mean by tightness but that is probably the restriction you are seeking. Plus, you have had only one fill. If you read the posts you will find that the majority of people on here do not have restriction after only one fill, so why should you be any different? Please stay positive and stop beating yourself up. 13 pounds is nothing to sneeze at. You will get here, but not if you stay mad at yourself. You've got a long way to go, so get moving, and be positive!!!! ((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))
SheRee
Thank you Mona. I am trying to get a new attitude. You are right that the 13 pounds would have been gained instead of lost. I will try to be patient. I guess the first fill just isn't enough and I really wanted it to be. How long after a fill do you have to wait to get another?? Thanks again, SheRee
