  1. I had the same thing happen to me as well a little while ago. I could not get to the doctor right away, unfortunately...it is a lot of travelling (non do it here) and I have a toddler now. I did liquids for about a week and thankfully that helped. I think mine started because I got sick. Pretty sure everything was swollen and once I did liquids it all calmed down. Scary stuff. Go to the DOCTOR though!!!! Good Luck!
  2. I was so happy I brought a warm sweater, comfy pants and shoes (not just sandles), out of the 8 times I have gone it has been cold 6 of those times :S
  3. I had some pain where my port is. Mine bothered me if I leaned against it etc. Actually it still does - not painful but more annoying. Mine is very close to my ribs though and if I suck in my stomach a little you can see it. Other than that is was way better than I expected. Recouperating - hmmm...wow it has been so long. I had mine done a few days before Christmas. That was stupid, do you know how hard it was to sit at my grandmas while everyone stuffed their faces and I was on liquid UGHHHH. I wasnt actually hungry though, it was all it my head. I was okay a few weeks after. For me I would not have been able to work for at least 10 days I hardly ever come on here anymore :S
  4. It says there are 7400 topics on this board and I hardly see any
  5. Yah, I miss when it was busy!!! I needed some motivation, so I came on here as it was great for motiving people. I miss it! Is there a new board somewhere people are going to
  6. I wont be a ton of help as I still have my band...but I wanted to add this. Dont go alone. I had a friend with me when I had my band done, but went back to TJ for other work. I live in Canada. I have to say, it sucks going alone. I will always take someone with me, its too difficult when you are sore to do it all by yourself.
  7. So - I used to be on here A LOT when I was first banded...now when I log in I hardly see anything so I barely come on here, am I doing something wrong? How do I see old threads? I would be so sad if I was a new patient and came here and hardly saw info...so I am hoping it is just a new way and I just need to click something to see all the old posts. Also - where did everyone go
  8. You guys who dont like the optifast - you should try this instead...way better IMO. It is a bit more expensive, but way healthier and tastes so much better! I signed up a few people under me and am getting them free... if you just watch the video it gives you info if you dont want to navigate all over! http://mandysawchuk.myvi.net/
  9. Okay, so since I was banded I basically lived off slimfast in the mornings since I had a hard time eating early on. Well I found the Body By Vi products and they have way less fat and are much healthier and have a lot more nutrients and protein (yay protein). Anyways, just thought Id let you know about it and if you want more info feel free to PM me. I hope this is okay to post on here, but I really do think it will be beneficial to a lot of bandsters!
  10. I also had it bad. I actually started doing slimfast shakes because if I ate before noon it was sooooo bad. I just started doing the Body By Vi 90 Day Challange and heard that has helped people with reflux when doing weight loss. I dont know why my weird body gets reflux if I dont take it easy before about 1 pm! Figured I would try it though since I want to lose another 10 lbs
  11. I hope it works for you!! Definately dont give up though, your band can be your bff lol
  12. I remember you I am sorry you are having problems with your band I still love mine. I only felt like you did when it was filled too much. Can they just take a little out so you arent having such a hard time? I can eat anything as long as I eat slow and I can burp fine. I have 2 cc's in my 4 cc band. Maybe you need to have half of what you have in there and see how you do. It took a bit of tweaking before I found what worked for me.
  13. Donna - I am sorry it didnt go as you were hoping! Hopefully all turns out great for you when you go back though and you will be happier than ever with the results! Thanks for the update!
  14. I too love my band. I am just starting to read about plication and so far, I would still choose having the band - it is right for me. Good luck!
  15. After I had my band I was like you. After that 21 day liquid diet I was so thankful! I was starving. You just have to get through that 21 days - bandster hell! If you had another surgery I am not sure if it is the same or not, I know nothing about them, sorry.
  16. I hope so too! Our plan is amazing so hopefully yours is just as good.
  17. I used our flex plan to pay for it. I just called them to see if it was covered - she said as long as I had a doctors note they would.
  18. I was banded - but figured I would answer anyways. I lost about 9 lbs from my pre-op diet. But a few lbs before that as I kind of started before hand a little (as much as I could).
  19. Donna - I read your posts lol, I just have no idea what the answers are!! Sorry! I just wanted you to know you arent being ignored - but I know nothing about plication.
  20. Thanks Donna, Yes I have been too tight - that is why I have been putting off going for a fill. It is done under fluoro - but I still had it be too tight once, as once I got home it was too tight and it sucked because I couldnt go for an unfil for about a month...so I had to be extra extra careful. I dread that happening again. I sure wish I had a place right where I live that did fills!
  21. Okay - I havent read any of the information on plication - I so have to go look that up right now!! A friend just emailed me and said she had it done last week...I had no idea she was going, and am curious about it now. I still love my band. I do need a fill though. I had a baby well almost 10 months ago now and need a little more help again. I just really dont want to get filled too much ughhhh...what a pain.
