  1. Oh dear friend Restrction! You've come home!! Oh Angie, so glad for you!
  2. Hey Angie! I had my 4th fill back in October. The same thing appeared to happen to me. I finished the 2 days of liquids and was able to eat a whole taco salad from Taco Bell! I called Fill Centers USA and asked if they could tell me how much fill I got, because I was worried that he had only replaced what he withdrew. They assured me that I had indeed gotten the 0.2 that the Dr had recorded. Slowly I have noticed restriction since then. Thanksgiving dinner I was able to eat 4 bites (literally) and yesterday we made Christmas cookies and I actually was only able to manage to eat one and a half cookies. (My head wanted to eat more, but my booty was glad I could only do the ones I ate--haha) I guess my point is, give it a little time if you can. When you mentioned "tortilla" and "chicken" in your post, those are two things I always have trouble with. Tortilla is basically a no-go, and chicken has to have gravy, bbq sauce, etc on it or I tend to have a problem with it. So those two foods especially I would not consider "slider". I hope that the restriction kicks in for you. (Your work potluck sounded delcious! )
  3. Hey bMe! I don't think it is unusual to work really hard and lose some weight and then sit back and enjoy that progress. I have never been able to maintain weight loss before. I would always lose whatever number of pounds, and head straight back to bad habits and regain the weight and then some. It is funny that when I am stalled, that is when folks ask me if I am losing weight. I don't know if some shifting around takes place or what, but those comments are always welcome and tend to make me move forward with my best habits again. Can't wait for you to post your December update, but don't wait for the end of the month. Use this thread that you have started to allow the rest of us to keep you accountable. We'll be watching for your progress. Your gonna do awesome!
  4. Yay!! Congratulations on reaching your goal!! You have been missed here!
  5. I also wanted to add that it was said on here before that when you do the preop and limit calories to "healthy" calories, the liver goes through changes (shrinks or becomes more flexible) and that makes it easier for the surgeon to place your band.
  6. Hey lady! Today is a new day! You can do this!! Take it one meal at a time, believe in yourself--you are "strong, fierce, and unstoppable"!!
  7. Hey Funmama! Are you getting your Lapband and OCC? Are you freaking because you are supposed to lose weight during your preop? Many folks here have done the program that Dr Miranda suggests -- protein shake for breakfast, protein shake for lunch, and lean cuisine for dinner. (If you already know this, sorry to be redundant). If you are a patient at OCC, they probably are asking you to lose about 12-14 pounds. If you have to track your food to be successful, lots of folks are posting what they eat right here on this forum. Somehow, when you have to put it out there, in writing, it makes it easier to stick to the plan knowing all of the potential readers that will be holding you accountable. You can do this--and it is so, so worth it!!
  8. Hey Angie! The forum member "sawdawg" (a.k.a Janet) just got back from a cruise and lost 3 pounds. http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?s=&a...ost&p=78392 I think it is completely doable.
  9. Hey Dolittle-- You definitely know what you are speaking about--they did not rush through doing what they had to do, that is for sure. The lady did say to me that the scan was in no way "personal", but if I wanted they would take me behind a screen. I opted to be scanned right there, to save time. And for the record, no secret piercings--haha!
  10. Hey Barb! I agree with other members here that you have done the right thing to post here for support. Have you ever tried the 5-day pouch test? It has been discussed on this forum before. If you Google it, the lady that helped develop it has a web site that is really cool. The thing about it is the first few days are all liquid. There is nothing like working liquids (and seeing the scale go down a pound or two) and eliminating all other food choices for "getting your head right" about the foods/amounts you've been eating. I have done it a couple of times to get back on track. I agree with Pammie--this time of year will be an added challenge. Pumpkin pie just goes down too easy. I think it also sounds like you need a fill, despite your fears. We're all rootin' for ya--keep this thread going and post about how you are managing. Use the rest of us as your accountability group to boost you to success. You can do it!!
  11. Hey Leashie! Man, it sure sounds like it has been one thing after another with your Lap-band. Not sure what you are asking when you wonder what the next steps might be. Food-wise, I would suggest you follow what your surgeon advises--stay on your liquids and add food types as you are told to do. As for the rest of it, I know that you have had a few setbacks and the success you may have thought that you would be celebrating here a year later is delayed. Begin by believing that the great successes that others that post here have had are also possible for you, too! You have stuck it out to this point, through the revision/correction of the problems with your band. Look at it as being on a trip and your car broke down. The car (your lapband) is now fixed and you can continue on your trip. A great celebration awaits you at your destination--and we will all be here to celebrate with you!! Now rev your engine girl--and get going!!!
  12. I'm not sure what prompted it, but I was targeted for a search on our way to MX to get the lap-band. Because of some drama earlier in the day, we arrived at the airport with barely 20 minutes to spare. My 13 year old daughter was OK going through, but they wanted to search me more extensively. For a moment there I had images of a cavity search or something. They emptied my purse, put a gauze swab on the end of a long pair of tong-like things, swabbed the inner surface of my handbag, and inserted the tongs and gauze into some sort of detector machine. The completely funny thing is, I had just gotten a copy of a book by R.C. Sproul (Christian author) called "The Holiness of God" that I thought I would read on the plane and in hotel if there was nothing on TV. I was laughing to myself that the inspector thought I must be a real holy-roller, or that the book was a complete and total plant. I was not strip searched or anything. They passed over me with a wand, gave me my purse (and book--haha) back, and then we ran like hell to see if our plane had left without us. We just made it!!
  13. Hey Michelle!! We were banded on the same day. I hadn't seen you on here in ages. I am so sorry to hear about the tough stuff that was going on with you. Thanks for posting and checkin' back in. I hope everything went OK today. You are amazing! How is your mom doing?
  14. Congratulations on your upcoming lapband surgery! There are so many super nice and smart people on this forum. You will learn everything you need to know and then some. This is an exciting time for you. (How brave of you to go through the preop during the holidays--you are gonna do awesome!!) Again, congratulations and welcome!
  15. Hey Dawn-- I can't get past why the person working the unfill wouldn't completely unfill you like you had asked. Gees! It sounds like you are under a lot of pressure, and worrying about what may be happening with your band is only adding to it. Rest assured they will take great care of you when you get to OCC. From the sounds of it, being too tight sort of becomes a vicious cycle, and having a stomach virus on top of all of it sounds like it sort of threw things for a loop. You are going to do just great. Try not to worry too much. And feel free to hug Dr. So for all of us -- or just eat him up for being so cute!!
  16. Wow! Could I just add a little to what has already been said. Just a couple of things in no particlular order: Being a couple is fun in the beginning--we are on our best behavior with the other person. We actually try to stay fit, do our hair, close the bathroom door, and don't wear worn out underwear. Then "familiarity" sets in, and what was cute once, is now a grating habit. What was worth the effort once, now doesn't seem like it. It happens to everyone. My marriage is flawed. It is flawed because there are two flawed, imperfect people trying to be in it. I have been married 25 years, and both my husband and I say that over the years it seems like a series of about 4 or 5 different "marriages" (there is at lease one bad one in there ) I agree, marriage is work--a lot of work. With the pressures of everyday life, we take the other person for granted and don't effectly work toward trying to put that person first. Resentments build up that can have both parties keeping a scorecard about what was said (or not said), done (or not done). This "scorecard" is usually used in an argument to make lame points about crap that has happened in the past and often ultimately makes matters worse. Please be glad that when he comes home, he comes home to your couch. He could be going elsewhere doing things that could really be hurting your relationship even worse. Be willing to work on yourself. You are already doing that. Also, be willing to forgive and ask for forgiveness. (Forgiveness for a lot of hurtful junk will require divine intervention--just sayin'.) Because you have a baby together, you will be tied to this person for the rest of your life. About 18 years ago my husband and I both had lawyers and were well on our way to getting a divorce. We had a small son at the time. We ended up in mediation to try to figure out custody, division of assets, etc. The mediator got us into a counselor. It was the best thing that we could have done. We figured out that we actually "liked" each other again. Funny how when you start to like someone again--they start to look sexy to you, also. Learned how to communicate our needs, etc. So we stayed together, and had our daughter a year and a half after that. Just a pitch for trying to work it out. I think it is awesome that you spoke to him about your issues and that he states he will try to be kind to you. It's a step in the right direction. I hope that you both work through this. It is so worth havin' your bud with you!! (And your baby is an absolute angel! )
  17. How cool to have the revision close to home--and covered by insurance. Glad there was a resolution to the partial slip besides total band removal. Take care of yourself, heal quickly, and don't be a stranger here.
  18. My teenage daughter and I both have the band and have done very well with it. It was the best decision we ever made. Good luck to you!
  19. Bravo! How wonderful that you had a great time and can come back and feel super about your weight LOSS! Love it!!
  20. Hey Ute-- I haven't had any plastic surgery since having the LapBand, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your "smoke-free" success. You are amazing!!
  21. Oh Shelby-- I just got up to speed regarding your brother and his accident. I'm so sorry--will be praying with AngieB and all of the rest for all of you. Take care!
  22. Hey Deb-- Holly posted her expenses on a different thread. Here it is, in case you didn't catch it: http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?s=&a...ost&p=77430
