  1. Ahem..... an "excuse me" would be appropriate, young lady!!!! [will T shakes the pointer finger just like ALL moms used to do]
  2. I've been thinking about this topic for a few days. Kim was such a brave soul to post such an inquisitive, thought provoking question. She brought up soups, pottying, and she is a wonderful member of this awesome group of people. In my book, that makes her a sooper souper pooper snooper trooper grouper.
  3. when i had both fills, my technician told me the pouch swells with the fill, and needs a couple of days for the swelling to go down. We were on liquids for a couple of days afterwards. I ate soups for a couple of days both times, and needed to. It is the SMART thing to do to get used to the restriction and how it feels. EAT VERY SLOWLY right afterwards. It is a completely different feel.
  4. I ate my liquids with a spoon. Broths, then soups, etc.... everything with a spoon. That made me think "eating" over "drinking". Now I will be honest... after the first four days, I would always have a couple of crackers with my soup/broth... in the soup, nice and very soggy.
  5. I contacted Carolyn, my patient care coordinator, and she told me my earliest date for a fill, and I found out times that the fill center was available and went at the EARLIEST date. I'm glad I did it early... I wanted the process to begin quickly. I noticed immediate restriction, and sceduled the second fill when i felt that the restriction was lessening (I dont know if that is a correct statement - it was lessening - but that's what it FELT like).
  6. mine were painless. just a small injection.
  7. Today was an unusual day, the first holiday since being banded. I grilled and grilled, cooked and cooked, and had a wonderful time doing so. I filled my plate as I have in days past, with smaller portions. I ate about a third of my plate, and wanted to eat so much more, the luscious flavors melting together. I did take little "tastes" during the cooking process, as all master cooks do; and this started filling me. I realize that now. The food tasted so good though. I ate slowly until I was filled. Since all my family knows about my band, I excused myself, and went into a different room while the others continued to do the food. I sat and felt good listening to them praise the food, but I did miss eating it. And then again, the meal is over now, and everyone went to do things together....... and I realize I didnt miss is as badly as I thought I did, because I am getting smaller! New life style, hello.....
  8. Good morning to you all! On this day, we in the US celebrate the phenomenal achievement of acquiring our Independence: the right to govern ourselves. In a way, if you read this, you've achieved a PERSONAL independence day. The change we've chosen will direct us in the path of independence from our struggles with nasty scales and shopping at the large sections for clothing. The struggle by the US was not easy. There were constant battles, continuing challenges and the forefathers knew it was a day to day struggle to secure our freedom. Our journey is similar. Our day to day struggles change us, though we have the constant battles of old habits, holiday food buffets, and rich, elegant foods that trash our diets. We can celebrate today, and our Canadian friends (we love them!) can join in with us to commemorate the day each one of us started our road to pound independence. We've seen many who gained that freedom earlier, and those testimonials, and their support show us where WE will be... one day.... soon! A day at a time, wonderful friends..... our Independence is here, now let us conquer EACH DAY!! And we will! Have a blessed holiday, those of you in the US... those of you in Canada, tell your bosses that I've given you the day off to go fishing, to take in a movie, to go on a drive into your BEAUTIFUL country, or just to relax, and celebrate YOUR weight independence!!
  9. The toughest part is over!! Now, just take it a day at a time! Broths will grow old after a few days, but look toward the calendar for the soups date. Congratulations on making THE decision that will help YOU help yourself. Keep us informed!
  10. [willT bows on all fours...] We're not worthy!!....... We're not worthy!!....... We're not worthy!!.......
  11. please refer to my personal message left on my home page. Be well.
  12. Kimberly, don't fret... one day you'll be a sooper pooper once more. Or, if you're still in the liquids stage, would that be sooper souper pooper?
  13. If we keep this up at this rate, they may have a special section for us in restaurants soon...
  14. you ARE???? That is SO GROSS!!! I'm not doing either of those things. [will falls in the floor from laughing so hard, knowing his 'system' is acting JUST like yours] I'll bet some of the women here can out-do the men in both categories.... I know... TMI.
  15. "whassa matta.... you want some-a dis???" will flexes... then picks up a notepad and puts amber on the list.... then writes the words "figure four" and grins evilly as he nods.... "MUAHAHAHAHA..... bring-a your best bikini"
  16. 2 Fab... I eat SLOWLY. I cut my pizza into small wedges or squares, and talk a lot between bites, and then.. when it's time to take a bite, I enjoy every chew. We also frequent a pizza place with a TV in the corner, so I can discuss the ball game, the news snipet, or talk with the family about news of the day. This lapband is behavior modification at its best. We all have learned (or are in the process of re-learning) how to eat. Good luck, I've been banded almost three months and old habits are heard to break.... but the band tells me when I fall back.
  17. Evette, I agree with you, hon. I was a guest here for a LONG time before I made an account. When i log in from a different computer, I can see the posts, and I am identified as "guest" until I log in, but there are quite a few guests who are wondering about this miracle "lapband" that is helping thousands of people. The words we say MAY BE the decision-making factor in some people's lives when they go to decide about a lapband.
  18. yep, mona.... this is a no holds barred texas mud match.... hop in line and take on the CHAMP.
  19. I thought I would give an update, and at the same time co-link this with Alana's thread on "Negative Posts" Thanks to all of your positive support and encouragement, I am down another half-pound this morning... I'm lower than I've been in ~ 7 years... And I am not quite two weeks after my second fill. (Thinking about mud wrestling lisa and dawnie has helped )
  20. tell him it's an animal growl.... and then act like a wild animal... he'll want it to growl more often, I promise!
  21. Dawn, I will pray for Gracie and for your family, and for you.
  22. if you're going to get your first fill in Roswell, why go to the trouble to go to Tijuana for the second one? I've had great success both times I've been to Roswell, and saved hundreds of dollars in flights. You're paying a high premium for your first Roswell visit, you won't receive the price break until subsequent visits. It's your choice of course, and I dont mean to be critical... I just wonder why?
  23. hey... i thought we were in chat to send Dianna off to Tijuana LAST night... are we doing it again tonight?
  24. that whole story was full of ... no. i wont say it.
  25. Paula, Dawnie's pickin on me againnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
