  1. No shoulder pain at all. Just stayed in my stomach area. I did have a breathing treatment before and after surgery, but with medicine not just oxygen. (Because my respiration was low).
  2. Try warm tea, or warm chicken broth. Not hot, just warm. Those seem to go down easy.
  3. Wow, glad to see so many cat people here. I am one too! I have 9 and have 2 males that have had very serious peepee problems. Yes, I am glad you are taking them in because if one of them has crystals, he can die and it will be a horribly painful death. Do not, and I repeat DO NOT feed them any special urinary tract type of food without your vet telling you to do that! People assume they are doing good by doing that but they are not. The urinary tract food on the market today if for a certain type of urinary problem, not all types. If I fed the urinary food on the market today, to my Benjamin Eddy, I would have killed him. See, he has the opposite type of urinary problem than what that food treats. Urine can be either acidic or alkaline and without a test, you don't know which is which. You also don't know if he has crystals and which type he has, and that food can be deadly given for the wrong problem. Sorry to sound like a know it all, but I kind of am when it comes to cats. I only adopt the special needs ones and usually do quite a bit if research on them. Peepee problem are my 'specialty' LOL!!!! Then again, you may be lucky in that you are able to feed the store bought urinary food. I can do that for one of my boys with the peepee problem, but Benjamin Eddy has to have prescription which cost $50 a freaking bag!!! By the way, if you can't get any peepee samples to take, don't fret, they can get some using a syringe inserted into their bladded to draw some out and it doesn't hurt them. Sometimes, the vet can squeeze some out too. Good luck and please let us know how it goes at the vet today!!
  4. He told me it was the right thing to do to go back on clear liquids until the weekend and try creamy soup again, but make sure it is watery. After the first dry heave I had, I put myself back in a inflamed state. He said since I felt better the day after vomitting instead of worse or the same, I should be ok. If the band slipped or there was trouble, I wouldn't feel better the next day, I would continue to feel worse and worse until I couldn't drink at all. He said vomitting creates a vicious cycle. It only take one upchuck to create a string of vomitting bcause of swelling. He also suugested that when I do get my first meal 3 weeks post op, to make sure it is light, like watery oatmeal and flaky fish instead of meat that is hard to chew. He reminded to get on a protein drink right away since I am almost 2 weeks post op and need it. He also said if it happens again, they will need to see me to do a fluoroscopy before they do a fill. I guess my stomach is just sensitive and I have to go slower than most. He also reminded me that I have his cell number and that I could and should call 24/7 if any other problems at all. He is just so darn nice and caring. I love that man!!! He sure made me feel better. So sorry you are still having problems Kimmy but honestly, I am glad I am not the only one. I was afraid I was rejecting my band or something. I guess we are just ultra sensitive gals!
  5. I just read that you are 240 so that should be ok. Don't worry!
  6. You are right to be concerned, I hate to say. I am 5'3" and was 272 when I flew. I was horribly paranoid about it and that is because I felt bad for the guy in the seat next to me. Yes, I fit in the seat and had to use a seat belt extender, but my arms were well into his side of the seat so I spent the whole flight trying to lean into the aisle to give him more room. My husband had an aisle seat also and was stuck sitting in 1/2 of a seat. The gal next to him was so huge she took up half his seat. She should have had to buy a second seat. We flew Delta and their seats seemed a lot bigger, so for that I was thankful. My paranoia about the whole trip was because of the plane, not the surgery, the darn plane. But, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, so don't worry. Just lean into the aisle.
  7. I have a great disability plan at work so I tried to get off as long as possible. The Doctors at OCC only wanted to give me 2 weeks but I talked them into 3. I am on my second week now and am so glad I am home. I know lots of gals go right back but I didn't want too since I have never had surgery before so I didn't know what to expect. I have an office job too but I still have to lift heavy things and twist and move a lot so I am glad to be here. Plus I had some complications with vomitting that I would be horrified if it would have happened at work. I have been at my job for 20 years and never once used the disability plan (I get full pay for up to 6 months out on a disability) so I thought, why not use it while I have a reason. Now yesterday, I swept and mopped all of my floors (hardwood) and although I am 10 days post op, I did get sore. I should have done a room at a time instead of all in one day. So, I guess I am saying, if you can take off, then go for it. Why not pamper yourself?
  8. Oh thank you! I am so glad I am not the only one. I was feeling very odd. I wonder why it happened though? I'll try more this weekend maybe.
  9. I haven't had a problem with cold yet, but that sounds scary. I did e-mail the center today so we'll see what they say. I am so afraid to try anything else now.
  10. You know, I too just started feeling that. I was banded 3/24 and hadn't felt anything, no port, no tightness, nothing. Just the other day, I could finally start feeling it. Like, if I move to the left a certain way, I can feel like a stabbing slight pain. Not really pain, juts that I can feel it is there now. I had expected to feel it sooner.
  11. Blender it! Make it drinkable, at least you get the taste.
  12. I tried to graduate to creamy soup on Sunday ( 1 week post op) and after only 3 or 4 sips, I spent the next 3 hours retching! I have never in my life felt so horrible! I don't know what in the heck is wrong with me. This is the 3rd time now since being banded and I am really getting scared. Both other times, I was still in Mexico and went back to the center. First they thought I wasn't drinking enough. The 2nd time, they had no answers. Gave me IV meds and I felt better until Sunday when I tried the soup. I swear, if I would have been in Mexico I would have told them to take the thing out. That is how horrible I felt. It was all dry heaves, nothing came out except maybe 20 pounds of GAS along with a tiny bit of saliva. I couldn't stand up, for as soon as I tried, I started retching again. I tried walking, sipping water. Nothing, except time helped. My hsuband bought me some anti-nausau liquid at the drug store and that finally stopped it. But, then I had to lay down for another 3 hours until I felt better enough to stand up. I have been perfectly fine ever since. However, I am back on clear broth. I know I should call the center, but they didn't know what was going on when I was still there, so they aren't going to know now. It is so strange because it comes on so suddenly and leaves and then I feel perfect. One thing I can say is that after that episode, I finally seem to have ALL the gas out of me that was stuck. (I never got the shoulder gas, it all stayed in my stomach). And now, for the first time, I can feel my port. I never had any pain there either like other gals did. But, now if I move to the left too far, it stabs me. I don't think the band slipped, but if it did, would I know? No-one here will touch me anyway. Has this happened to anyone else? My surgery was March 24th and the first and second episode occurred 2 days after surgery and this 3rd episode was Sunday night - a week later. Could this possible be my body rejecting the lap band? I am so afraid to try creamy soups again now too. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  13. Just as an FYI, When I was on another board, we had a member who had had a stoke. She had a hard enough time typing at all, let alone trying to type with correct punctuation and using caps when and when not they are required. So, for her, it was basically a medical necessity for her to type in all one style or else she would not have been able to communicate at all. Just saying...................there may be reasons for people to type that way that you may not know about. My personal opinion is that there is enough horrors in the world today to worry about that concerning myself with sonmeone's typing abilities just doesn't warrant any of my precious time. Live and let live! We will ALL be happier people!
  14. \Well, when I told my family what I was doing, they had a fit! Not because of the surgery, but because it was in Mexico. My mom was freaking out because according to her, the Mexicans don't wash their hands. According to my brother, you have to take someone with you because they do not dispense drugs from the hospital, you have have your husband go down a back alley to purchase you medication for you and bring it back to you at the hospital. Ridiculous, huh? But, no amount of convincing would settle them down so I told them I changed my mind and wasn't going to do it. Then, I went anyway, videotaped it all and told my mom after I got back. After she saw the pics and videos and my husband told her all about it, she was fine. For me, too many people freaked out about the Mexico part so I decided it was better to keep quiet until it was over.
  15. Wow, those are nice! And I can tell looking at mine, there is no way mine are going to look that good! I'll have to take a picture of mine to show you.
  16. Get as much protein as you can, that will keep you full. I followed the Adkins diet for about 5 weeks prior and since there is so much protein on that diet, you will stay full.
  17. Uh oh! I had the dry heaves 2 days after surgery and they RUSHED me back to the OC for a fluroscopy to check the band. They consider that an emergency. I think you should call them ASAP. You band could have slipped. Plus, you are probably all swollen inside now. I don't mean to be harsh honey, really I don't, but you are supposed to stay on liquid for 3 weeks for a reason! (Shaking my finger at you). That being said, please call the Center and go back on liquids. They had me on IV with anti-nausau, anti-inflamatory and nexium. THey may want you to get some meds in you too. I hope you feel better soon!!! Please keep us posted.
  18. Oh wow! You can really see the difference!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. When I first decided to get banded and made the appointment, I started eating everything is sight! I couldn't stop. Then, I stepped on the scale and saw I gained 4 pounds. Then Dr. Miranda told me to lose 20 or I coulcn't have surgery. Well, thats all it took. I stopped the gourging and buckled down and lost 17. So, believe me, if I can do it, I am confident you can too!
  20. Oh no Bobbi, I hope you aren't catching a cold! I've coughed a few times, and sneezed too but they weren't too bad. If it keep up, I would call the docotor for some cough meds so it doesn't linger.
  21. And here I was feeling guilty for starting the yogurt already! But that yogurt did hit the spot and made me feel great! I am going to try one of my protein shakes tomorrow. I think part of my vomitting problem was from lack of food also. I was SOOOOO trying to do just the clear fluids fro the whole first week but I just can't so I am going with the diet suggestions on the early days of the schedule.
  22. Well, mine look horrible. But I only had surgery Monday plus I had some vomitting issues that I think made them split open a tad. Plus, I am very bruised so I am not the one to asnwer. I think my vomitting made them worse than they would have been.
  23. Try the Adkins Advantage shakes. They have a lot more protein and keep you full much longer and better than SlimFast. And they taste great!
  24. I know I can have popsicles now, but what about fat free and no sugar added fudgsicles? I am on day 6 after surgery and STARVING! Does anyone still have that God awful bloating?
