  1. Does anyone from Seattle know of a great coffee shop or something right off of I-5? Someplace very easy to get to, where we could meet? I know of all of them in Tacoma, if anyone is interested. What about Saturday, October 7th or in the afternoon on Sunday, October 8th? Anyone still interested? Becki
  2. So does that mean milk on day 7? Thanks, Becki
  3. Hey, Glad you are feeling so good. I feel great from surgery, and I'm glad I could help the people in the waiting room feel better. Boy, swimsuit pictures are very telling aren't they. I did a triathlon a week before the surgery. They always take pictures. I didn't see them until we got home. WOW, shockingly bad. But I am going to order one, as a before picture. The trouble is, I'm not sure I will ever show anyone, even when I am at my goal. Way to embarassing. But I will look at it and be greatful for Dr. Ortiz, and all he did for me. If I remember right, you are in Everett?? I am in Tacoma. I would love to get together some time. What a great thing you are doing for your daughter, not only to provide this surgery for her, but to walk it with her, and save her from more hard years. I wish my mom had known about this, or that it existed then (I feel old). How is your daughter? Is she doing as well as you? I wish I had a family member to do this with me. Unfortunately, I am the guinea pig in this one. They are all watching to see how I do. I am sure that Dr. Ortiz will be meeting two of them within the year. Thanks for sharing your story. Becki
  4. Dave, I do have that paper, I have studied it, but it was very general. And I like specifics. I posted a new topic asking some of my questions. I hope someone answers, and soon. Becki
  5. I am 7 days post-op. I have read and reread the pages given us by Dr. Miranda before surgery. And I still have questions. I believe I can start protein drinks on day 10? And tomato soup, or other fat-free, chunk free soups also on day 10? When can I have milk? Can I have pudding at some point, fat-free, sugar free?? What about mixing soup in a blender or something, can I do that and on what day? Does anything change on day 8, other than getting yogurt? Dr. Miranda said we could have yogurt as early as day 4 if we felt like we could handle it. I will probably have more questions, but this is just what is on my mind right now. Oh, yeah, one more. When is day 1. Is it the day of surgery, or the day after? Thank you soooooo much. Becki
  6. Dave, I am doing awesome!!! I love this surgery. My incisions look like little cuts. The glue is slowly wearing off. I hate broth, but I will get through. The biggest thing that has helped me is getting on the scale several times a day. It make the broth worth it. I am down 19 pounds since the pre-op diet. I feel great, my family says they can tell a difference. I am just kind of confused about the post-op diet. I really don't understand when things change. I know that tomato soup is not until day 10. I already am on the liquid yogurt, but I sure thought we got to have the soup on day 8. Are we off of clear liquids on day 8? Can I have some V8 juice? And do we just eat fat free soups with no chunks the rest of the time? I wish there was a little more information on the post-op diet. When do we get milk?? Anyway, I am doing great, and very glad to hear you are healing well now. I'm doing great, just confused. Becki
  7. Lori, I know we should still be able to drink all our water, but don't we have to sip now. I used to chug! So I am having a hard time getting it all in because I take it in such small quantitites. Can we drink like we used to?? Thanks, Becki
  8. Hey Wendy, Thanks for the update. I have done Weight Watchers off and on for the last three years. The first of which was online and helped me lose 50 pounds. I have family how have lost and kept off 80 pounds for the 4 years. I know it can work. The last year I have been to meetings weekly, and just not lost, so I had surgery a week ago, and will be back at Weight Watchers next Monday. I have really learned some invaluable lessons from Weight Watchers. I like some veggies now, I have a boatload of good healthy, low cal recipes, I have support. I have learned how to live a balanced, healthy lifestyle. I was just too hungry to make it work for me before. But I believe that after surgery, I will be able to do it very well. Good for you for your positive thinking and for at least learning all you can now. It will make any transistions, you might make later much easier, andjust promotes a healthy lifestyle. Becki
  9. Hey fellow bandster birthday friends. Just curious how you were doing. Lanie, have you had problems with pbing much? I think I saw you on another board asking about that, and I talked to you in Tijuana about that. Dave, how are your incisions. I've been thinking and worrying about you alot. I would love to hear how it is going. I am doing pretty well, but have some questions about the diet that maybe you guys could help with. Does anything change on day 8??? I thought it did, but know I don't know. I thought since you were there the same day, maybe Dr. Miranda said the same things to you. Anyway, hope you are all healing well. Becki
  10. Hi, welcome to the board. I'm glad to hear your wife had this and is doing well. I was just banded a week ago, I too have been up and down my whole life. From what I understand, vomiting is very bad with the band, as it can cause it to slip. I've also read that there are several things that can cause it, such as eating too big a bite, and not chewing it well enough. I don't believe that most people will vomit much if at all as long as they follow the guidelines. They are meant to keep you from vomiting. Maybe someone who has been banded longer can help more, but for me, I would do it again in a heartbeat, even if I did vomit. Becki
  11. Dave, How are your wounds doing now? Better I hope? And what did you decided to do? Becki
  12. Littleroo, I think you are right, it depends on how much fatty tissue there is surrounding your actual stomach. I am certainly a lot bigger than a lot of people who had the VG band, 265, BMI of 42, but I still had the 4c band. I think it really is an individual decision that Dr. Ortiz makes when he sees your insides. Becki
  13. Actually, I have signed in as mommyrkr every time, but have been posted as two other people, and had someone else post with my login name. I did change my password though, and so far so good. Thanks Becki
  14. I need some help. I have left several posts, that were posted with other people's login names. And I noticed that this morning, someone other than me left a post using my login name. Can someone please explain this, and help me fix it? It gets rather confusing. Becki
  15. Thanks!! I actually did just get a call so all is fine. I panicked a little early I think...................
  16. Hi I am at Lucerna now, trying to figure out what time I will get picked up. I am having pre-op and surgery today and have no clue what time. I can't make phone calls because I did not bring an actual credit card so I am feeling a little lost. Any clues??? Karen
  17. Dave, I'm so sorry you are having a little trouble. Did you call Dr. Ortiz? I might if I were you. How are things going other than that? My stomach is growling a lot, but drinking some water usually helps. And I was having some gas pains, but they seem to be better today. My incisions all look pretty good though, and the bruising is going away. Hope you heal well. Becki
  18. Hello, I live in Washington now, where were you stationed? I have three little ones at home too. I have done Weight Watchers for 3 years, net lose....0. I had surgery 4 days ago, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It is so noninvasive, with such great results. You can get Dr. Ortiz book, which I also highly recommend, at Amazon.com. It is a must for anyone considering surgery. I am so glad that I did this, even though I am at a hard stage right now. For the first, time, I know I can lose 100 pounds, and keep it gone. Feel free to email me if you want also. Or check my post, banded on August 28th under testimonials. It tells more about my decision and journey. Becki
  19. Hey guys, I was in the waiting room, when you were waiting for your surgery. I am so glad that it went so well. I share your joy. Becki
  20. I had my final meal the night before I started the pre-op diet. It was fine. I was told the same - 3-4 shakes, and all the green veggies I could eat - up to 4 pounds!!! That is a lot of green veggies. I hated the balsamic vinegar. I did, on two salads, use fat free ranch, and used it very, very sparingly. The calorie difference was only thirty. So it made very little diffence, but make it much more palatable. I love diet coke, so I had diet coke the whole time, my last chance. I even had diet coke last night, before surgery today. I lost plenty. Becki
  21. I'm so sorry for all you've had to go through. We know those things can happen, you just don't want to be the one they happen to. I'm sure your new experience will be much, much better. Becki
  22. Michelle, Don't be nervous. I just had it done today. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It has been the easiest life change I have made yet. The staff and facilities are incredible. I am loving the experience, and I will love my new life afterward. Becki
  23. It doesn't matter how long I have tried to get ready for this, my plane leaves in 10 hours and I still have a few questions. I sure hope someone who has answers gets this soon. What kind of bag did you take to actually have the surgery? I mean after the first night in the hospital, did you just bring your whole suitcase? It seems a little excessive to me, I just don't know if I should pack a duffle bag also or what. Does the hotel have an alarm clock or a wake up call? I can't find my travel one, and it is too late to go get a new one now. How did you find someone when you got off the plane? How do I know who to find my ride? I am so nervous!! Thanks, I might have more questions, but I think that is it. Becki
  24. Sounds like there are a lot of Washington people. How about planning something? What month would work best? Sounds like I am the farthest south in Tacoma, and there is someone from Bellingham. What about meeting in Seattle/Everett area? What about in very early, before surgery, or late October? Becki
  25. Rid, Wow what a journey! Thank you so much for sharing it all with everyone. I know it is very encouraging to me to know that you were up and even went to an event last night. You're incredible! Can't wait to hear further updates. Good luck and keep updating! Becki
