  1. Diet coke slurpee sounds great! What a good idea, thanks. Becki
  2. I would love to get together...and good thinking on starting a new thread. I also won't be here the beginning of next week....I'LL BE IN TIJUANA!!!! YIPPEE!!! But it would be great to have a support group in the area. Thanks. Becki
  3. I know I will miss Diet coke a lot too. A super big gulp from 7-11 has made me feel better many, many times. It was something my family did to celebrate or in sorrow. From the time I was 10, we all went and got a big gulp. Thankful, I switched to diet when I was 13, or I would be at least 600 pounds!!! But losing this weight is well worth never having Diet coke again. If it means being smaller and healthier, it is well worth it to me. Interestingly, I am having surgery in 5 days, so I planned on getting all my diet coke in now, and saying a farewell, but it really hasn't sounded as good as my diluted crystal light. My husband keeps offering me a diet coke and being shocked when I turn him down. Maybe my body is getting ready for the changes it will be making. I hope all adjustments go this well. Becki
  4. Michelle, I would love to get together. I am in Lakewood, just south of Tacoma. I could sure host something too. My surgery is August 28th. Email me....mommyrkr@comcast.net. Becki
  5. I can't tell you how many times my husband has exploded a can of soda in the freezer. I keep trying to explain why that is not a good practice, but.... Thanks for your advice. I use the Propel bottles all the time. My family takes them everywhere, because they are easy to use, cheap to buy, and if you lose one, no big deal. Right now I love Crystal Light. I have a 32 oz cup with a straw. I fill it completely with ice, use one Crystal light to go pack (you know, the kind for the single bottles) and fill it up with water. It is half strength that way, but I love it. By the way, the Target brand of the Crystal light to go, is just as good and less than half the price, just a little hard to find in the store, but it is there. Becki
  6. I know that we supposed to drink 64 oz. of water a day. I do that no problem right now. But I will be banded in a week, and I am wondering how that will be after the surgery. I know that I am supposed to sip all day long, so I am wondering how hard it will be dow get 64 oz. down just sipping. Do most people do it? Do you have problems getting enough in? Any tips to making sure the water goes down but not with food? I love advice. Thanks, Becki
  7. I'm so glad they got you better with the antibiotics. Was it Dr. Ortiz who did your surgery? Just curious. I never liked tomato soup, but I'm on my preop diet and it sounds so good right not. I will have to put that on the grocery list when I get to the right week. Becki
  8. Hey Beth and Pam, I am in Tacoma, and I would love a support group. Glad there are some WA people around also with Dr. Ortiz. I am having surgery on August 28th. So I will be banded soon. Becki
  9. Rid, You must be banded by now, based on the time. I hope everything went well and that you will tell us every detail when you are able. Thinking about you, and excited for you. Becki
  10. Rid, Congradulations! I can't wait to hear how it went! How did your pre-op diet work for you. Did you lose enough, like you were supposed to. I just started my pre-op diet with Dr. Ortiz today, and I am jealous. But I want this to work, so whatever it takes. Becki
  11. Chelley, Good for you for figuring out what you need to do to make this work. Personally, I have been on Weight Watchers for 3 years, obviously on and off, or I wouldn't be on this board. But I learned quite a few things, like eating more protein, smaller portions, and that I actually like some vegetables. I am scheduled for surgery on August 28th, and I plan on following Weight Watchers after than, once back on solid foods. I think if will just be a whole lot easier if I am not so ravenous all the time. One thing I really appreciate about Weight Watchers is that you need to write down everything you eat. It makes you very aware of how many calories you are putting in your body. Fortunately, or unfortunately, calories are the ultimate bottom line. If you cut out 3500, you lose a pound. Maybe tracking food might help someone? I am starting my pre-op liquid diet today and will be posting about it on this forum. I need a place to diary and this seems like a good place. Thanks for letting us all in on your very personal journey. I know it will make mine easier with no disolusions of a "magic wand" and "fairy godmother". I am ready to work for this. Becki
  12. Hey Pammie, where in Washington are you from? I'm in Tacoma. I wish I could have had the surgery earlier, just too much going on. Do you know of any support groups in Washington, just curious.
  13. I love Washington. Where did you live? Was it with the military?
  14. Mystery Machine and Lanie I am also scheduled for the 28th. I can't wait. I am little older than you guys, 31, almost 32, and I have struggled for so long. I admire you guys for doing it sooner. I sure wish I had. I too am financing. Thankfully, my husband is in grad school, so he can get a student loan to pay for this. Makes a much better rate. I can't wait to meet you both in a few weeks. Are you traveling alone or bringing a loved one. I am leaving my husband at home to take care of three kids, otherwise I would worry about them too much. A cousin will be meeting me in San Diego to go with me. Again, can't wait to meet you. Becki
  15. Hey Mystery machine I am scheduled for August 28th also. I am very excited. I am coming from Washington, where are you from?
