  1. I have been trying to get a receipt for our surgery now since we got back. It has now been 3 days. I know that is not a long time. But if I had the receipt I could send it in to get reimbursed. Does anyone know of how I can get this done. I was told to send an email to Melissa at the OCC and I did, but no response. Has anyone ever got a receipt from them? I am starting to get worried. There is $2500.00 sitting in a medical account that I desperately need. Can someone tell me if they have ever received a receipt and how did they get it?

You may need to call and talk to Rene. I requested one and waited 3 weeks before calling but when I finally did he sent it that day.

  2. How do you use it...do you hold onto it and do a push up? If so, I agree with momonamission...I would slam my face into the wheel or pull my arms out the socket trying to control it.

Please say it's easier than it looks!!

No, I would not say easy is the word. But when is anything that works easy? You do not fall on your face or anything though. You only go as far as you can. Just like a push up. If you can't go all the way down, don't. Here is a youtube video that shows how it works but keep in mind this man has lots of upper body strength and I do not so I don't go near as far down as he does but I can still "feel the burn"!!!!

  3. My port is about 1/2 in. down and to the left of my largest incision. Originally it was directly to the left of my scar but I guess my skin has moved a little with the weight loss. I would email Dr. Ortiz and see what he says but I would guess that you should give it a little more time to see if it is scar tissue and if your port will surface somewhere else. As long as your incision is closed and you can't see into it I think you are okay. But keep us posted.

  4. I am sure most of you have heard of an ab wheel. Heck, many of you may even have one but used it about once - if you are like me. Well I decided to pull out the old thing again and it is really helping. I used it once about two weeks ago and I could hardly walk for about 2 days - my stomach muscles were so sore. Then I used it again last week and it done the same thing to me. So I used it the night before last and again this morning and it is getting easier. I am able to go down a little more each time. This exercise wheel is a inexpensive way to tone those abs. It also works the muscles in the back! Anyway - I have come to love my ab wheel and just wanted to share. Here is a pic of it in case some of you have one laying around somewhere. If not go get one. Who can't spare $8!!

This is the website you can purchase one if you want.

If you can't see the pic just go to the website and you'll see it.

  5. I am so excited for you!! All I want is a boob job, but I am gonna wait until next Summer. Hopefully all my weight will be gone by then.

Amen, sister! I am in your boat Kim - I was getting dressed the other day and my husband said "Baby, where did they go?" and I said "What" and he said "Your boobs!" I rapidly repied...."OMG they are at the surgeon's office - let's go get them!" He's on board for that but I am going to wait till next summer also.

  6. I am freaking out. I am trying to get ready to go and I am so upset. I dont want to forget anything. I feel so out of control. I am scarred. I guess I have held it in. My husband is acting like an idiot. He is not helping at all. My son is sick, this is horrible. I am a terrible traveler. I dont want to forget anything. I dont want to overpack either but my suitcase is full already and I dont know why. I can't find any socks for my son. What if he dont have enough clothes. Someone tell me that this is going to happen and that I can do this. I am crying my eyes out.

Just calm down!! There are socks in TJ!!! If you forget something there is a store right across from the hotel!! You'll be fine. You're not going to be gone that long. All you REALLY need is a pic ID and your birth certificate - you surely want to be able to come home. Oh and don't forget the money for the surgery. All else is just accessories - not necessities. The lucerna even has toothbrushes and paste if you forget that! I know because i forgot my brush - hairbrush that is - and I asked the front desk for one and they brought me a toothbrush. Way too much hair here for that!! LOL Just relax and have a great time.

  7. Well today marks my 6 month bandiversary and I am down 55lbs. Well I did lose 6 lbs on the pre-op diet. Weight loss has slowed a lot! I have a fill scheduled for October 18th so I'm just slugging along but that's okay. I am still happy with the results. Enjoy the pics.

  8. Okay, so I read in a previous post that Lori would submit info to the docs if she had it to submit. So, she wants a date, a place, a time, etc. Let's get this thing started. The last poll revealed San Diego as the place for Band Camp 2009 - next we need a date. Based on the other posts for this topic most people wanted to go between February and April. I did not put Valentine's day down as most will want to be at home with their families. The dates I have posted are weekends, as that seems to be the time people can easily get away. So let the voting begin. If there is a date that is not listed that you will like just add it in a reply!

I am by far the organizer for this function but am willing to help get things rolling, so all others that are willing - let it be known. I think Dawn is the one who has been in contact with Lori, so when the poll ends (maybe mid October?) she can submit the info to her. Evette lives in San Diego and has offered to help find a place to have this party. Others have volunteered presentations, shows, etc but a girl can only remember so much. So post your ideas when voting so we can plan this thing!!

  9. Hey Misty, just wanted to see if you are feeling better ;)

Yes, I am - thanks for asking. Needless to say I have not taken my HCTZ since Sunday and I took my BP today and it was 116/69. :D So, I am almost positive that my BP bottoming out is the reason for me fainting Monday. But I am doing great and I go back to clinical tomorrow. Maybe things will go a little better this time.

  10. Thank you all for your sympathy and concern but I'm fine. I am about to go grill me some chicken - getting a little hungry. But I mainly posted this to warn everyone about the meds and keeping a watch on these things.

That's scarey, I hope you feel better soon...it's a good thing you are nurse and know these things!!

Well although I am a nurse sometimes when it's you or your family you seem to down play things and overlook other things so I am considering this a lesson learned.

I hope you feel better soon. Maybe no more hctz for you.....

    I think you're right!!!
