  1. Musiclover your directions crack me up!! I can feel mine just a little to the left and 2 finger widths under my port site. Its definitly the band. I carry all my weight in my butt so my stomach is fairly flat. Good thing they dont put a band in your butt Id NEVER feel it! I mashed on Kellys stomach and I can feel hers too. My glue is all washed off and my scars are looking great. My port is still tender when I do certain things but I think Im healing very well! I hope youre back to 100% after this weekend. That must have been aweful. Im starting on my treatmill tomorrow and cant wait. Im sitting at 202 now and REALLY want the 199 so Im going to brisk walk and see if I can get there in the next 2 weeks! Have a great day. Nebs Mom
  2. Welcome Angela~ I tried the shake in the morning and at lunch and a lean cuisine for dinner but I only made it 2 days. I was SO hungry. Then I switched to shake in the morning, lean cuisine for lunch and dinner and another shake somewhere in there. I finally felt full. Sometimes I would drink half a shake between lunch and dinner and finish the other half just before bed. I also made a schedule the night before. 8 am shake 1200 lean cuisine 3 am half a shake 530 pm lean cuisine 8 pm half a shake Then as I ate them I would cross them off. Then I could tell myself "only a few more hours". It seemed a little easier when I took baby steps. Just do the best you can. It will be well worth it!!
  3. I struggle everyday. At first I would say "today Im going to make good food choices". Now I have to take it one meal at a time. Im with you!!!
  4. You dont need to buy one prior to the surg. They will give you one when you get discharged. I didnt do mine after leaving the hospital but Im young, have no asthma or lung problems and know that if I just take a deep breath and cough a few times a day Ill be fine. I havent had any problems.
  5. I asked this question earlier this week but I didnt get much of a response. I know almost everyone can feel their port but what about your band? And if you can feel your band can you please tell me the location. Thanks, Nebs Mom
  6. You crack me up. If thats the worst thing you've done then you're doing quite wonderful. Get back on the BAND wagon. The band doesnt sound as good without out!
  7. I have a few questions 1) When will my port site pain go away? I was banded on 4/29 2) Can you feel your band and if so where is it located? (I can totally feel mine thats why I ask) 3) Is the no drinking with meals forever or just until the post-op diet is over? I ask because I typically eat cereal for breakfast and I was worrkied that I wont be able to because its solid mixed with liquid. I appreciate the input everyone. Thanks, Nebs Mom
  8. Hello there! I was a nervous freaking mess before my surg on 4/29. Dr Ortiz came in the room and told me about the procedure while he sat in the chair with his legs stretched out to the bottom of my bed and was very laid back. Hes quite entertaining. Then for 20 more minutes we compaired stories about our kids. Then his mother came in and he said "hi mama, come on in". And the 3 of us chatted about life for about 5 more minutes. You'll love him. Hes got a great sense of humor and very easy to talk to. He said "did you hear all about the rats in the Mexican surgery room?" I answered "ya, right!" He laughed and laughed. You'll be nervous but feel very well taken care of!
  9. Kimmie~ I know this message was for mamamichelle but I wanted to tell you that Im sitting at 202. I cant wait to hit 199! Im hoping next week. The anticipation is killing me!
  10. Kimmie~ How did they determine how much to put in? I cant wait for my first fil on the 6th of June!
  11. Hello Musiclover!! Im getting my first fill on June 6th. Its about 6 weeks from our surg. I think they said 6 weeks is best! Good luck!
  12. In 4 more lbs I'll be 199! I havent seen the 100's for quite some time. I can barely stand it. So far on the post-op diet I have been consistantly losing weight. I hope it stays this way until my first fill on June 6th. Im surprised at how good I feel just 9 days post-op. Its amazing. Im already wearing jeans I couldnt wear 2 weeks ago. Its so stinking exciting!! My goal is to be 175-180lbs by October 5th as its my 31st birthday. YAAHOOOOO FOR THE BAND! Oh..... Im almost at a healthy BMI. Chunky still, but healthy!
  13. Hey there! There isnt any more aggressive treatment for bronchitis. It just has to complete its course. If youve done the antibiotics and steroids youve done it all. You have a whole nother week. You will be totally fine. You might end up having a little residual cough but thats ok. Lots of oral fluids and you'll be good to go!
  14. Hey momof12. We went to revolution ave and you can barter and get some good prices. However, you also get hastled and the shop owners are very pushy. I dont care for that. We only lasted about 2 hours there. We didnt know about the mall? As far as pharmacies go........ they are everywhere. 2 right outside of the hotel. The prices arent what you think however, very expensive. I thought Id get a few things to bring home and only ended up getting steroids for our dog. Even those werent cheap just available. Good luck! Enjoy yourself and relax. nebsmom
  15. Hello there! I was banded on 4/29. I have felt truely hungry since day 3 post-op. It has been very hard for me. I had gas pains as well but the hunger pains were different. I totally cheated on the post op diet on day 3 or 4 and I wrote a post on here about it. I was worried about stretching my pouch or slipping but I was so hungry I couldnt stand it. I ended up eating a very small amount of food and felt 100% better. I have since tried very hard to keep on track but I have eaten some really runny oatmeal. I was full after about 1 cup and it really satisified my hunger pains for a long time. Good just at sticking with your post-op diet. I am slightly disappointed with myself for eating however the hunger pains were so horrible. Have a great day. y
  16. Hello there~ I was banded on 4/29 so 2 days before you. My stomach is still pretty swollen and my port site is even more swollen and still painful. My gas pains have alomost totally gone away now. I have been to work for 3 days and Im doing pretty well. I too have that little pulling feeling inside when I move around but its not painful. I think everything youre feeling is normal. Did you take phazyme for your gas. It worked so well for me. I hope a all is well. Have a great day!
  17. Alright so I woke up this morning with some new strength! Im having a lovely protein shake for breakfast and working from 1400-0230am so I packed my lunch with only soups and liquids so I would have to follow the post-op diet. Thanks for the support.
  18. My surgery was 4/29. I have been so hungry. And I mean REALLY hungry. Growling painful stomach. Not gas, HUNGER. I finally ate something today and it was totally to early. I had about 1oz of chicken cubed into 1cm squares and chewed each bite a million times until it was mush. It was SOOOO good. I followed the no drinking rule and waited for an hour. I had no bad side effects. I had soup a couple of hours later and then I had 1cm cubed pieces of watermelon also with no bad side effects about 4 hours after that. I did however burp louder then ever before and it felt good. I dont mean to be a cheater and I certainly didnt think that I would fail the post-op diet (especially this early) but for the love of pete Im hungry. The portions I ate were VERY small and I chewed VERY well but I know its wrong. I dont want to hurt my pouch or port or my stomach. Part of me wishes it would have been painful or had some aweful side effect so Id have learned my lesson but it wasnt. When I counted my calories over the last 5 days it equals less then 800 a day. Thats so little. Truely I feel quite good. I had some nasty left shoulder pain last night at work for about 2 hrs that went away with naproxin and some random gas that has no problem leaving my body one way or another. Im thinking no one else ate this early post-op?? Does anyone have any horror stories they could possibly share to discourage me from eating regular foods until my 21 days are over? Of course I know about band slippage but I seemed to have convinced myself that if I chew a TON and dont drink with it Ill be fine. I think I might need a reality check. Any and all info is appreciated! Thanks. I appreciate that I can confess on here.
  19. Please trust that my ass looks FAR more lumpy then yours!! Nice work!
  20. Thats such wonderful news!! Thanks! Ill look forward to a great salad in a couple of weeks!
  21. Did anyone eat salad as their first real meal? If so please let me know how it went. I didnt see any salad restrictions so I was hoping when real food is allowed I could have some!! Thanks
  22. Everytime or just the initial fill? Thanks ladies!
