  1. I know this sounds stupid and I never thought I would be asking this question, but when do I stop eatting? I just started on solids the other day. I only eat enough to stop the hunger pains. I was trying to avoid pbing which I have not done. But last night I woke up with my tummy burning with hunger pains. I know burning does not seem like the right words, but it does. I do not know how much to eat or what full is suppose to feel like. I am even nervous of what things I eat. I just ate some oatmeal again for breakfast because I know that will not hurt. I only ate about 2/3 of a package. What does your full feel like. How will I know when to stop eatting so I do not PB or slime. Nobody goes into a meal saying I want to throw up today. I hate that feeling and I want to avoid it. Mean while I need to get my calorie intake up with the right kind of foods. Thanks for any replies. Dawn
  2. So glad to see you back. I always liked reading what ya had to say. Tell us how your fill goes. I am sorry to hear about your sad news. I just learned the week after I got back from banding that my MOM has lung cancer. She has a biopsy this upcomimg wednesday. They would have done it sooner but they dropped the ball and forgot to tell her to stop taking her blood thinners. My MOM has been my MOM and DAD and best friend. This is awful to go thru. She never wanted to die of the C word. Her mother had a horrible cancer death and it scares her. So I understand and feel for your loss. I wish your family some peace. I hope all goes well at the OCC. Thanks for all your replies you have given me in the past. Dawn
  3. I oppted for my husband not to go. I had a friend go with me and we both had it done. My husband was a pile of nerves the whole time until I got home. So do not expect it to go away. He just loves you and wants you to be safe. I too was a pile of nerves until I got there and saw that it was all just as I had read on this forum. The day I booked my plane I too felt like it was Christmas and it all felt real. Best wishes. Dawn
  4. SO SO EASY. DO NOT WORRY. THE HARD PART IS WHEN YOU COME HOME AND GO ON LIQUIDS FOR 3 WEEKS. YOU WILL DO GREAT!!!!DAWN
  5. I can not believe what a BIG change 18 pounds can make. You look great!!! I have only lost 15 so far and I only have 8 days until my 1 month is up. I hope I do as well as you. Way to go. Dawn
  6. YEAH!!!! I GOT TO EAT SOLIDS TODAY!!!!! I WAS KIND OF AFRAID SO I STARTED OFF WITH OATMEAL. I ATE ABOUT 2/3RDS OF IT. I COULD OF ATE MORE BUT I FELT SATISFIED AND I DID NOT WANT ANY ISSUES. THAN FOR LUNCH I HAD A LEAN CUSINE PIZZA WITH NO PROBLEMS. FOR DINNER I MAD SALMON, SUGAR SNAP PEAS, MASHED POTATOS, AND A SPINACH SALAD. I GOT THRU 4OZ. OF SALMON AND SUGAR SNAP PEAS. THAT TOOK A GOOD WHILE WITH ALL THE CHEWING AND ALL. I NEVER ATE THE MASHED POTATOS OR SPINACH SALAD. I USE TO HATE ALL FISH(EXCEPT FOR CAPT. D'S) AND TONIGHT I THOUGHT THE SALMON WAS DELISH. I READ ABOUT A GREAT HOMEMADE MARINADE. THE ONLY REASON I DID SALMON IS I KEPT READING IT WAS A GOOD FIRST MEAL. I AM SO GLAD I DID. I ALSO MADE A CUCUMBER SAUCE TO GO WITH IT. HERE IS THE RECIPE IF YOUR WANTING A GOOD FIRST, SECOND, OR ONE HUNDREDTH MEAL. MARINADE 1/3 CUP SOY SAUCE 1/3 CUP BROWN SUGAR 1/3 CUP WATER 1/4 CUP VEG. OIL 1 1/2 LEMON JUICE SALT, PEPPER, ONION POWDER LET SET IN MARINADE FOR AT LEAST TWO HOURS AND GRILL ON TOP OF ALLUM. FOIL FOR 6 TO 8 MIN ON EACH SIDE I ALSO LIKE CUCUMBER SAUCE AND THIS ONE IS LOW FAT AND CALORIE LIGHT OR FAT FREE PLAIN YOUGURT PEELED CUCUMBER THAN SHREDD INTO YOUGURT LEMON JUICE DILL WEED GARLIC ONE SWEET IN LOW SALT AND PEPPER THIS MAKES A BIG BATCH THAT WILL LAST A LONG TIME.DAWN
  7. I plan to go to Roswell on July 19th. Although the first appt. is a little higher appt. after are more reasonable. Also if you pay your start up fee thru Fill Center USA you can transfer to any center without paying that fee again. Maybe I will see ya there. Dawn
  8. I do not know if you used Fill Center USA, but if you did you can transfer to another center without paying that start up fee again. I plan to start at the center in Roswell but down the line I might transfer to the one in Huntersville. I checked this out before I booked my first one. I know the Roswell lady gets great reviews!!!!Best of luck. Dawn
  9. It was not my intent to criticize cedar. I would never criticize anybody on this forum. We all fight the same battle everyday. We all deal with different food demons and life demons. My goal was for all of us to accept we are not going to be perfect everyday. Skinny people eat what we consider bad food...just not all the time. In the end it is up to you to figure out what is acceptable to you. I agree you should follow Doctor orders...for sure. I just do not want us to set us up for failure. Hats of to cedar for being so strong. I think I am strong too. Cedar is a captian in a food war. You are certainly a fighter for good choices. I wish you the best of success. However, some people are not as strong and need a little more support. Everybody is going to have a different jouney. All I can think to add to this is to remember your health first. I am going to start excercizing soon. Kinda looking forward to it. Do any of you remember how long you were suppose to wait. I have been walking. I have an eliptical machine I would like to start using but I do not know if it is to soon yet. I am starting each day planning for success. You have to plan that. It does not come easy...it is hard work. Today let's all plan for success. Dawn
  10. Just take a moment to relax. You will be in good hands. Just ask any questions you can think of. Most of my questions got answered on the forum. I had my band place 3 weeks ago. The surgery was much easier than I expected. I would have had the surgery again if I could have bypassed the 3 weeks of liquids. We are here for ya.
  11. Just so I have this right do y'all not ever plan on eatting burgers or fries? Or what ever you consider CHEAT foods? Be aware if you deprive yourself you will fall off the wagon in a big way. What we need is to have commonsense. We have all done weight watchers or something like it. We know what is okay and not. We can have a burger and fries but not everyday. Instead of getting a whopper w/cheese supper size ...get a kids meal. It's all about choices and making better choices most of the time. I knew how to loose weight before the band and just did not have the will power after about 20 pounds. The band is our tool belt to help us. I am in hopes it gives me that will power I did not have on my own. I got the band over bypass because I wanted to have a normal life and eat like a normal person. If I want cake at my sons birthday I will have a small piece without the dumping syndrome. And when I say eat like a normal person ...I do not mean like a normal overweight person. You do not see your skinny friend eatting at Burgerking everyday. I plan to eat like weight watchers tells us to. That gives you room to feel normal but not go crazy.
  12. You had fun and tommorow is a new day. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Dawn
  13. I was hungryby day 6. It was a rough couple of days until I got my creamy soups. I would do what Dr. Ortiz says. I would think you would want your swelling to go down but I know it is different for everyone. Good Luck. Dawn
  14. Today was a sucess for you. Just think about what you did. You made a deciscion not to let emotion control your eatting habits. We might not win that battle everyday, but today you did it. That is a sucessful day. Way to go and sorry for the rude lady. I hate it when people are mean for no reason. If they do not like there job they should quit. I hope your sucessful tommorow. Dawn
  15. You will not regret it. Look forward and keep on trucking. You might want to limit who you tell because you WILL get alot of flack. I did tell when I got back. Then people were more supportive. Dawn
  16. It's good it worked out that way. Might be that you have control over your food and now you feel you have better control over other parts too. In any case...congrats. Dawn
  17. I read some where they can use a thicker solution for bands that leak. I guess like a gel or something. I would check into it. That does not seem right. Dawn
  18. Do not down yourself. You have done a great job. Everyday is a fight and you keep on going. Enjoy your sucess. YEAH!!!!Dawn
  19. I am a Mom of two. Girl 9 and Boy 7. Of course my husband was scared and did not want me to do it. He finally jumped on board when he saw how much I had studied it, but was still very worried. He did not go with me. For one reason he stresses out so bad he would have made the trip more stressful for me. Another reason is I had a friend go with me who also had the surgery at the same time. So we have been a great support to each other. It was the easiest surgery I have ever had. The hard part is right now ... the 3 weeks of liquds. I onlyl have until next tuesday to wait. I would do the surgery again tommorow if I could bypass the liquid stage. You will make the right deciscion for you. In the end I wanted it for me, my childred, and my husband. I am so glad I went to Dr. Ortiz. It was a great experience and I made some great friends there that I corrispond with daily. Dawn
  20. Go girl go. I can not work out yet, but when I can I want your determination. DO ya sell it in a bottle? Dawn
  21. That is a great feeling. Every time somebody notices I am losing I feel like I am suceeding. Dawn
  22. Silly question....What do I expect when I start to eat solids after the 3 weeks but before the first fill? Will I have any resriction or will I do that pbing thing? You have all kept me so informed that I never really felt surprised by anything. I have not read to much on the time area...Maybe everyone during this time frame has left to eat and does not come back until after there first fill.(lol) Dawn
  23. I can eat next Tuesday and if it were not for creamy soups I would not have survived. We are almost there. Dawn
  24. The reason I got the band was so I could live a normal life. With by-pass you are limited on everything and can not eat so many different things. My suggestion is ...if we want the peas (and we do) ....buy them and measure them into zip lock bags so we only have one serving. One serving does not look to bad. A little fiber, al little protien, and a little fat. I am still on liquids so I might would eat the bag it came in too. But, after the liquids....I hope to have gained some selfcontol. Dawn
  25. I am glad you stood up for yourself. I know it can be hard when your dealing with doc's and all. But at the end of the day you are the patient and you have to be able to live with what they give you. It was crazy what you were going thru. I am so glad things got better today. Best wishes. Dawn
