Hi all just had questions about my restriction. I got my second fill on the 15th this month which took me up to a 2.6 in the small band, needless to say it was to tight and I could not even get liquid down so Dr. So had me come back and he took out some and it is at 2.3. Well I am home and in the mornings with the first fill I could only drink a slim fast for breakfast and then I was able to eat at lunch. Well now I have to drink hot tea in the morning before even the slim fast will go down, and then at lunch I can eat about 6 to 10 bites of something and then that is it, and then at night I can eat good. Is anybody else that way and does it last like that or will it change. I get worried that it might be to tight but then I also want good restriction.

I asked Dr. So this very question when I was there just this last weekend getting a fill. ( I have the smaller band) His answer to me was it depends on the persons build, body anatomy not just how much wt to lose.

difference between slimming and pbing?
paulafox replied to momonamission's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
That is a good question, I am not sure what the difference is? I know that this weekend that I threw up my breakfast but it was not like when you are sick and you are throwing up and it was just like baby spitting up. So is that pBing? -
Yep that is it DL and Birth Cert. is all you need for now, we crossed at different boarder this time and it was the first time we had to stand in line but it moves fast just have it out and ready! They may ask you why you were in Mexico and if you have anything to claim and that is about all they have ever asked me.

Oh gosh sorry you had to go thru that at work! I just got my second fill on Friday and they had us go and eat to make sure that we could and the very first bite got stuck! So I did not eat anymore but then the next morning I had oatmeal only 4 bites and it was runny oatmeal and and two bites of eggs and the second bite got stuck and i paced back and forth in the hallway at the hotel and then finally it came up! This was my first time to have this happen to me and that is a stressful event I hate that you had to go thru it at work!

Just got home from Fill #2 @ the OCC
paulafox replied to paulafox's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I did not get into bed until about 5 am this morning when we got home and I laid down and rested until around 1:00 this afternoon and got up and tried to drink a slim fast and got two little sips down and felt that stuck feeling so I stopped and made some hot tea and drank it, after that i was able to drink the slim fast. Still have not been able to eat more than 3 bites of supper today. I was able to eat last night at the airport so I know that I can eat. It is just strange how one day you can eat and one you can not. But I do recommmend to everyone if you are going to travel and get your fill at OCC (which is where I will go everytime) that you allow yourself an extra day to adjust and make sure that you are not to tight. -
Well I just got back home from my second fill at the OCC and boy what a trip we had! My mom and then a friend that was also getting her second fill went with me. First we were waiting to board our plane in Tulsa and my mom noticed that everone's luggage was being taking off the plane. (American Airlines) We were informed that the plane did not have a spare O2 bottle and that they could not get one so that we would have to get different flights out. So we were change and rerouted and would be to late for our appt for our fills. But we called Claudia and she was wonderful and told us that was okay they would work us in when we got there. :good3: So we got our fills, I was at a 1.4 from my first fill and when he checked it there was 1.2 left in my band. So he gave me a total of 2.6 and my firend was given 2.6 also. We were told go and eat and make sure that you can. So we went back to the hotel and went to the little brown taco hut behind the Lucerna and got a taco. ONE BITE! That was it no more, we both were just about to die! We spit and hurt for a good 15 mins. Finally we were better but was worried so we changed our flight to go back on Sunday, and then off to shop! Later that night we ate and we did good and did not eat much although it took me almost 2 hours to eat. So then on Saturday morning we tried to eat and I had really running oatmeal at the hotel and my friend at eggs. I had 4 bites and I could not eat anymore and I was hurting bad. My chest felt like someone was sitting on it and I could not stop spitting, finally after about 15 mins up came the oatmeal, :bad: and I felt better for about 5 mins and then the pain again in my chest and I could not drink much water. So it was back to the clinic where after a long wait we got to see Dr. So > He first looked at my friends and check to make sure that it everything could pass thru her band good and then he check me. Well I took my first sip of the barium and we watched it move very slow thru my band, and then he had me take another sip and that part never did go thru the band, so Dr. So told me that he was going to have to remove some out of the band. So he took everything out and when he did the pain in my chest went away and he put back in 2.3, he told me that it would just keep getting tighter and with me flying it would have just gotten worse! :lb12: So I am glad that I stayed the extra night. It seems to be doing good right now I can eat about a 1/3 of what I eating. Dr. So was wonderful he explained why he had to take some out and that it was only best for me and my band. We had a wonderful time as always meeting new friends and getting to hear about everyone and where they are on this band journey. Everyone was great at the clinic and at the hotel. On the day we had went shopping and was a little late getting back and only 20 min, and everyone was waiting on us and we ended up going to a different boarder crossing but all was well and we all got back to the airport and off to our homes.

Oprah Forum Post , I was touched.
paulafox replied to Jenn's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Jenn I watched the show yesterday. After meeting you and Cassie when I had my surgery in April, I was just a little upset at how they made it look like this was a terrible thing you did "making this choice for your children" I could have only wished that my parnets would have had this choice for me as a teen. You are a wonderful mother and Cassie is a very grounded young lady and I think that Oprah should do an update show and that they should really let Dr Ortiz be there!! You guys were such great cheerleaders for all of us that had surgery on April 18th :cheerleader: :cheerleader: :cheerleader: -

Are your eyes still bigger than your stomach?
paulafox replied to Kim2BSlim's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Yes it is hard to change that habit! We have started sharing the main dish if we are eating out. But when we go to eat Mexican I am just in trouble cause I love love love chips and salsa so I never make it to the main dish! I have to work on this one really hard -
When i went for my first fill at the OCC i was nothing to eat or drink at midnight the night before, and then 3 days of liquids. Good luck on your fill, I go back on the 15th of this month to the OCC for my second fill I can not wait!

I fly in at 11:00 am that morning and am having my fill at the 12.00pm and then staying at the Lucerna over night.... is anyone intrested?

Diva I am the same way there is some times that I can eat just what ever and then there are times that two bites of something is it! I have only had one fill and have scheduled to have my second one but can not get it done until Sept. 17th I don't understand the one day being able to eat and the next maybe not being able to get but two bites in. I would love to know if anyone else has this problem and if so what is the deal anyone know? -
Kim, does your insurance cover WLS, if it does you will need to call or email the OCC and get a detailed bill, that list everything done, and then it has to have billing codes on there, it will also need the Doctors UPIN # 's and or Tax ID #'s for each doctor that saw you. Then you just have to call your insurance company and ask them if they have a claim form or can you send the info you have collected. That is where I am right now, I have sent in all my info and then gave them a couple of weeks and called and checked the claim, and of course I have a list of other things to get from the OCC because they did not break down the prices in enough detail. But I am not giving up because my husbands insurance will pay $4000.00 on WLS surgery.

I am thankful that my hubby's insurance will pay for 1/2 of the cost of my surgery. I have done all of the things that they ask you to do before hand because I was going to have it done here in the states until I found the OCC, and after looking and researching them changed my mind to have it done at the OCC !! I know that I had read on here where some had filed insurance claims but I could not remember who it was and getting the codes is murder! But I will just keep trying until I have everything that they need!

Ok I have had my surgery but I am want to know if anyone has filed insurance? I have filed my insurance myself and now I am having to get procedure codes and such for my insurance, I have gotten some from the OCC but not all that I need, so I was wondering if anyone else has filed and had any luck?
