  1. Okay, food has such a strong hold on me. Have you ever heard that men think about sex every 3 seconds? Well, I think of food probably every 2 seconds. So you know how men are about sex, well I am that way about food. LOL!!!! Here is my food log for today. Please let me know what you all think. I am open to suggestions. Breakfast Atkins advantage shake coffee with creamer Snack 1.8 oz. Jerky 20 fl. oz no calorie flavored water Lunch tuna fish with 1 tsp of mayo, one piece of whole wheat bread, some onion, lettuce, and pickle. Snack Yogert Slim fast 20 fl.oz flavored water no calories Dinner South beach diet dinner Kung Pao Chicken Dinner (240 calories...wow...yummy) south beach snack bar. Okay, today was not easy . I was hungry!!!!!!! I kept thinking about food. And then we have yummy watermelon at home. But I didn't partake =D> of it because I wasn't sure if I could. Like how many calories does watermelon have? I freakin hate my struggle with food. I love to hear from you!!! ~dianna~
  2. What is your opinion? I have one month before my surgery date...YIKES!!! I am debating on these two diets to stick with until I have to start my pre-op diet. Which one do you think one would lose the most weight on? :-? Atkins or 2 shakes a day with appropriate snakage, and one south beach/lean cusine? I loved to hear from you. ~dianna~
  3. I was hoping for some sound advice from my forum friends. My surgery date is July 2nd, and I am topping the scale at 242 lbs. I want to loose as much weight as I can before my surgery date. What have you all done? I mean besides following Dr. Miranda's pre-op diet a few weeks before your surgeries? I have a little over one month before my surgery and I hope that I can loose about 20 lbs or more before my surgery. I would love to hear from you all. Thanks!!! dianna My weight battle makes me feel this way------------->
  4. Is anyone going to be at the OCC on this day? If so I would like to hear from you! This is my scheduled surgery date. YIKES!!! I'm excited...scared...you name it. Thanks ~dianna~
  5. When you have surgery they inflate your abdomen with CO2, they try to "suck" all the CO2 out when they have completed with the surgery. However, the CO2 escapes the abdominal cavity and rises. When it rises it pushes up against the diaphragm. This action causes pressure on a nerve that runs along the diaphragm called the Phrenic nerve. Pain arising from structures served by the phrenic nerve is often "referred" pain. This pain can manifest as pain in the (typically) right shoulder, but may also be in the left shoulder. What helps this is getting up and walking around as much as tolerated. Also, taking deep breathing and coughing may help too. I had the same thing happen to me when I had my gallbladder out. It was painful for sometime afterward. Hope this helps. But also, I would contact your Dr. about this-which I think I read that you had emailed Dr. Ortiz-and tell him whats going on. Hope you get to feeling better. ~dianna~
  6. Wow!! Thank you so very much for sharing!! I will stop now! I had no idea. My surgery isn't until July 2nd, so I am so glad to know NOW! I plan to stop immediately. Your post was extremely helpful. ~dianna~
  7. I was wondering if anyone else's surgery is July 2nd? I'm flying in July 1st, pre-ops will be July 2nd as will the actual surgery. Look forward to hearing from you all! thanks ~dianna~
  8. You are such a pretty girl!!!! Keep up the good work! ~ dianna~ =D>
  9. I have to say, WOW! When I posted my "scared" blog I was not expecting the kind of responses I received. Thank you...all of you who replied and gave such wonderful encouragement! I am humbled that so many of you shared your thoughts and fears with me. I have my surgery date scheduled for July 2nd, I fly into SD on July 1st, and plan to return home on July 4th. I also plan to have a "Going away fat party" the end of June sometime. An idea I got from a patient of mine, a young lady who had breast caner and had to have a mastectomy. She had a "going away party" for her boob. So why not? Any ideas on how to celebrate? I plan to document my journey, and who knows maybe I'll post them on youtube for others who, like me, have had doubts and fears about the lap band surgery. I have one girlfriend of mine who, at her highest weight was 410 lbs, had hers in the USA. Her insurance paid for her surgery, lucky! She was banded in September 2007, and as of now she has lost nearly 75 lbs. She feels great. I love listening to her triumphs. It is encouraging. I am currently 240 lbs and 5'1" My goal weight is 140-150 lbs range. I haven't had a chance to speak with Dr. Ortiz yet. I hope to talk with him soon. What do you all think of him? ~dianna~
  10. I was hoping someone could help rest some of my fears. Does the lap band really work? I mean for those of us who have tried to lose the weight only for it to come back, and then some! I just worried that for some reason it won't work for me. Has anyone else had these same fears and worries? Please let me know what you think! :lb12:
