  1. Does anyone out there know of a good fill doctor in Las Vegas? I am thinking of finding someone local for my next fill but don't want to go to someone that has no idea what they are doing... Is anyone else from Vegas? If so have you had a fill here in town? Anyone that you can recommend?
  2. I told my doctor after I had it done and he asked ALOT of questions about Dr. Ortiz and how much it cost about my recovery. He is younger but I don't think very active he has a little pudge on him so I think maybe he is wanting to have it done too! I gave him all Dr. Ortiz's info so we'll see! LOL! Erin
  3. Hi Harmonyherb! It is good to hear that you are doing better. Hopefully you will feel like yourself again soon. I think most of us were sore but the severe pain didn't sound right. I'm glad it is nothing serious. Good luck with your recovery and keep us posted on your progress! Erin
  4. I had to do the pre op diet and never spoke to Dr. Miranda on the phone. I sent her an email asking if I needed to call her and she replied back that I just needed to follow the diet and would be fine. I emailed her two additional times and she responded back promtly. My BMI was over 40. I did not actually speak to her until I got there for surgery. When I got there I had only lost 2 pounds of the 12 that I was required to lose and that was with following the diet. She said she was concerned and that I could not eat a meal that night like everyone else. Bottom line I still had surgery the next day and Dr. Ortiz did not say anything about me not following the pre op diet so I guess my liver was okay. Just sending this out so that you can feel a little more relaxed about it. I do not think they will deny you the surgery as you have already lost more weight than I did on the pre op. Good luck!
  5. That really does! Thanks Linda. That might actually work for me because it would control my calories and portions.... I will give that a shot.
  6. I want to thank Julie and Karen for replying with what they eat to succeed! I know there are others out there and I'm sure I'm not the only person wondering this same thing. I wanted to bump this up to see if anyone else will be willing to offer what they eat on a normal basis to keep losing weight. I'm the type of person that needs to have a set diet to stay on track so I'm just trying to collect ideas from everyone, take the ones that I think I can use and make a consistent daily menu for myself. I am not losing any weight right now and I'm sure it has something to do with not eating the right foods, drinking enough water, or getting enough protein. Please everyone! Help a sista out! LOL!
  7. Have fun Kim! Remember to bring some nose plugs for Bourbon Street! If there is one thing I will never forget it is the smell on Bourbon St! YUCK!
  8. You can buy powdered boullion now which taste just like the ramen packets... I did not like the can broth personally so I would stick with the powder or making it yourself. You are going to want to keep popscicles around.
  9. You look great! Those 12's are actually looking a little big in the legs too!
  10. Most of us were up and shopping the next day. You should call your doctor right away if you are in severe pain, that is not normal at all. Please call your doctor as soon as possible.
  11. I had only lost 2 pounds on the pre op diet and followed it to the T. When I weighed in there were two other people in the room with me, my friend and her 13 year old daughter which is probably why she didn't say anything mean or nasty to me. She only told me I could not eat anything but chicken breast for dinner or a protein shake.....
  12. That is AWESOME Kimmie!!!!! Way to go girl! Your husbands going to have to lock you up in the house to keep the men off of you! LOL
  13. As of two days ago I have stopped the fast food thing. I actually haven't had fast food really in the past week because I'm broke and I've HAD to cook! LOL! Like pulling teeth for me I suck at it. I'm going to up my water, write down what I've been eating and try to get more protein in.
  14. I have not been excercising it has been really hot here, I live in Vegas. It's time to pull out the Wii fit again! I have not been drinking my calories at all, the only thing I have been drinking is Crystal Light which should count towards my water intake. There are days I drink lots of water and days that I drink not so much. I do not drink with my meals. I'm going to try to add some excercise and more water and see if that helps. It is just so frustrating. I know we are not supposed to compare our results with others but it is hard not to. I feel like I should have lost a lot more weight by now. I just had a fill 2 weeks ago and I still eat what I ate before the fill, just slight smidgen less but not much. I'm just getting to the point where I don't know what to do! I feel like I'm going to be fat forever!
  15. So I have been toggling between the same 3 pounds since moving from liquids to solids in July... up and down up and down....I feel like a freaking yo yo. Though I was not making the best food choices I have significantly reduced the amount of food that I eat and I know that I am not eating more than 1000-1200 calories a day. By unhealthy food choices I mean mostly my lunch would be a 4 piece chicken nugget meal from Mc Donalds or a small nacho from Taco Bell. Not the highest quality food but not enough in my opinion to keep me from losing weight. In the last two days I have again changed my diet and have been making healthier food choices. I am still not seeing the scale move. I had my first fill on August 8th and do not really feel much difference from the fill either. I am 2 months out of surgery and have not lost anything more than what I lost on the liquid diet! It is so frustrating!!!!!! I'm just throwing this out there because I'm irritated and frustrated and want to scream!
  16. I slept on my side and stomach the day after surgery. It made it feel better to have the pressure pushing on it because of the bloating and gas.
  17. I can answer one of those questions because I asked the same thing at the OCC. Why do you need to get more fills over time? If you put in 2cc's...you don't lose that amount. The hole doesn't get bigger. Why isn't the restriction I'm feeling now...going to last till the end? The answer is that as you lose fat around your stomach the band becomes lose. The fill is needed to re-tighten the band around your stomach. Hope that helps.
  18. Hi Melissa, When I was banded I went with a group of 5 people that were all banded on the same day. I do not think any of them weighed over 400lbs. Are you considering having your surgery at the Obesity Control Center in Mexico? If so I would recommend that you call OCC and speak with them about your concerns. Dr. Ortiz is one of the best in his field and has done over 5000 surgeries, I'm sure he would be the best source to go to about your concerns. Best of luck to you!
  19. I went in with those same thoughts! I'm going to do everything the right way. And while I have REALLY been religious with the amount of food I have been eating it is hard to pass up on your favorites and hence my realization that healthier choices are the way to go and my new resolve to be healthy. I cannot speak for Dante but I know what I did wrong, I am admiting to it, and am moving on and in the other direction now. I think that we are all human and everyone makes mistakes. I have given up smoking, nail biting, drinking, and diet coke in the last two months but Taco Bell is something that I am having a hard time getting past. I love Taco Bell and I LOVE NACHOS. I know though that if I can give up everything else I should be able to kick this food habit as long as I give it 110%. My new diet will be as follows: breakfast - protein bar ( I found one that I really Like it is Southbeach living crispy meal bar / chocolate peanut butter crunch) lunch - boiled shrimp (I'm originally from New Orleans and I LOVE LOVE LOVE shrimp and the best part is shrimp is low in fat and high in protein) dinner - Some type of protein and a salad Wish me luck ya'll!
  20. I like the running and the ski jump!
  21. We can all do this together. I to did not make the best food choices. I watched how much I ate but not exactly what I ate. For example my day would consist of: no breakfast or cereal 5 chicken nuggets from Mc Donalds or a supreme nacho from Taco Bell whatever everyone else was eating in smaller quantities for dinner The amounts were small so I did not gain weight but had I eaten foods with less fat I would have lost a lot more weight so I'm trying to make those healthier choices now. I hope to lose at least 15 pounds by my next fill if not more also. GOOD LUCK to us both! Erin
