  1. I brought our big suitcase but I traveled with my husband and pretty much made him roll it around the whole time. We checked it also which made it easier to get through security and I didn't have to lift anything into the over head bins. The big suitcase held both our clothes though so if you are traveling without a spouse I would opt for the smaller carry on suitcase. I'm not sure how everyone feels about carry on but for me I prefer to not lug anything around the airport, less for me to worry about. Several times people have mentioned the walk across the bordor. This is nothing major. The van stopped we had to walk into the room show our birth certificate, driver license, and run our luggage through a scanner. My husband bought some beautiful knives while we were there and we were dissappointed to find out you cannot bring knives back over the border to the states so they confiscated them...Bummer! You are also going to want to bring cash, lots of 5's and 1's for tipping and shopping. If you do go shopping you will want to bargain and negotiate, never pay what they are asking. I found myself getting nauseous the first 5 days after surgery. You may want to make sure you have some liquid nausea medicine on hand such as mylanta or pepto bismol. I'm sure there is more but I can't think of it right now.
  2. Okay, I see what your saying now! You are right then you can could count the day of surgery.
  3. I am only 9 days post op and have lost 7lbs from my weight at time of surgery. At 4 days I believe I posted the same question about losing weight because I actually weighed 1 pound more than what I did before I had surgery and was completely confused at how that could have happened. Now at day 9 I am averaging about a pound a day lost, and if I don't lose a pound for the day the next day I have usually dropped 2. Now I am a slave to the scale but I weigh myself everyday at the same time and so far it has not yo yo'd up and down, it has remained lower so...so far so good. My surgery weight was 228, I spiked to 235 right after surgery and now I am at 221. Don't worry you'll be dropping the pounds before you know it...give yourself a few more days. Erin
  4. Yup, Julie is right...I had surgery on the 19th and Dr. Miranda gave me the 10th of July as the day I can eat food which is 21 days from the 20th if you start with the 20th so day 1 is the day after surgery.

    Baked Potato Soup

Hey guys! I asked Dr. Miranda about the blender and she said it was okay as long as you could drink it from a straw afterwards and still drained out the chunks to be safe.... I guess I'll skip it just to be safe. Hey Cathy, I'm doing much better now! Still sore but only really by the big incision where the port I think is. How about you? How have you been holding up?

    Baked Potato Soup

Is this safe for the post op creamy soups phase if blended????
  7. Jim, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I cannot even begin to imagine what you and your family are going through right now. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Erin
  8. WOW you look great after only 4 months! Amazing! Any tricks of the trade you can share with us newer bandsters?
  9. Oh wow! That's embarrasing!!! I wish I wouldn't have seen that.... Now I know why they put you to sleep and not leave you awake like during a c-section!
  10. Oh YEAH! Those doctors there are all HOT! If I didn't love my husband so much I would move to Mexico and meet me a rich Mexican doctor that makes 50,000 dollars a day! LOL!
  11. My husband was nervous about me having the surgery in Mexico but he was totally impressed by the OCC and especially Dr. Ortiz. I would not worry about Mexico at all. I just left there 6 days ago and I'm sure it will still be clean and nice when you get there. Everyone has this persona about having surgery in Mexico but I swear to you that I would go back and do it all over again, I have that much faith in the OCC. Matter of fact I am going to fly back down there in August for my first fill! You would not believe the looks and comments I got when I told people I was going to Mexico! Unreal! I wish you the best of luck and promise that you will have no regrets about the OCC.
  12. Hey Dawnie, The nausea comes in waves but I feel much better overall...Still a little sore but nothing major! I had my first day back at work today which was interesting! Elaine, I hope you are feeling better now! It was nice to meet you.
  13. YAY!!! I'm so excited for you! Have fun!
  14. I'm doing better! I have my little care package that I carry with me at all times! boullion cubes, special k protein mix, and MYLANTA! lol! I don't know why but I just can't get past the nausea. It is not there all the time but it comes out of no where. So it is okay to have non fat milk?
  15. Hey guys, I'm on day 6 of my post op liquid diet, I'm allowed to have drinkable yogurt and am wondering if I am allowed to have milk? Does anyone know if this is okay? Erin
  16. I weighed 235 when I decided to have the surgery and got down to 228 on the pre op diet.
  17. What happened? Were you sick?
  18. Never thought to try warm tea.....I'll give that a shot! Thank you for the suggestion!
  19. Yes, the pain medicine they give you will help you sleep. They will also send you home with 4 of these that will help you sleep. If that still doesn't work or if you feel like you need something more you may want to see your family doctor for a prescription.
  20. LOL! I guess that wouldn't be a cute image would it!
  21. Wow! That sounds really good! But everything sounds good right now because I'm on liquids only! And I don't even LIKE tuna! LOL! I'll have to keep that in mind to try after I can eat real food again.
  22. Thanks Alana! It sucks because I'll be fine and then out of no where I feel sick! I feel like I'm pregnant again dealing with morning sickness! It's horrible! But in the end all of this will be worth it so what's a little nausea when I can look great in a bikini some day right! LOL!
  23. Haha! I just logged back in to tell you that.... My husband noticed last night that the incision right where my bra lays is getting puffed up and irritated because my bra lays right on it. I'm going to buy some sports bras today....So yes definitley get some sports bras.
  24. I brought a lot of cotton pants and t-shirts and was sooooooo glad that I did. Here's what my suitcase had in it: tshirts cotton pants undies bras comfortable sleep clothes (PJ's) makeup (didn't wear it until after surgery though) boullion cubes gas x / phayzime pill crusher / cutter (not sure if you'll need this but I had a few meds I needed to take) brush pony tail holder shampoo / conditioner (the hotel does provide this but I like my own) razor Slip on shoes (You'll want to wear these after surgery) I think that is everything..... I brought about $200 cash and spent every penny of it between tiping and shopping, wish I would have brought another $100 but you won't need it if you do not plan on going shopping. We met the other people scheduled to be banded and hung out with one of them the whole time we were there pretty much, be careful if you do not hook up with someone. Try not to go to many places alone. Enjoy your trip!
