  1. Hi Lisa, Congratulations on your amazing accomplishment!!! WOW! Personally, I am post-op day #12 and it's people like you on this board that make me feel so excited about taking this step. Celebrate! XO, Margaret
  2. Yeah, I'm freaking out because I'm losing restriction. I have been reassured by almighty members Pammie and Sabrina that it's because the swelling is going down and that's why I don't get as full as fast. It's just weird after feeling so full after a few swigs of yogurt. Now I can probably drink the whole container and not feel a thing in my stomach/band. I look forward to getting my first fill in early November! Thanks to people for their support. This is all so new and different.
  3. RevyD - I see greek yogurt at Trader Joe's. Do you have that chain of stores where you are? Greek yogurt is thicker than we're used to. Lots of parents give it to their young kids who are learning to eat with a spoon because it sticks to the spoon really well. Here is a link to one brand (not the one Trader Joe's carries). I'd be surprised if you can't find it in a large grocery chain. http://www.stonyfield.com/OurProducts/GreekYogurt.cfm
  4. I'm barely feeling the band there at all on post-op day #11. I'm freaking out!
  5. RevyD, can you post the link to that page with high protein suggestions?
  6. Hey gang - I've noticed that I don't get full as fast on my yogurt drinks and soups. Did I screw up? Drink too much too fast and stretched the band already? Moderator? Thoughts? Help! Margaret
  7. I think curvy size 12 is gorgeous. That's the size the character Callie on Grey's Anatomy is and she is HOT. (My friend works on that show and she buys all of the clothes so I am quite sure of her size.) I think it's great that people still come back here for support. I come every day now. It is really helpful. In my opinion, I don't ever want to "trust myself" without restriction. I've done that for 39 years and it's not turned out so well. I have admitted to myself that I need help and the band is one of my tools. I'm ever so grateful that I did this.
  8. I think I am about halfway through the liquids phase and I have not missed food at all. Crazy, right? I've been surprised at HOW FULL I feel on liquids. And I'm not hungry much. The first 5 days of clear liquids SUCKED so hard because I was so weak and dizzy. Since adding yogurt and protein drinks I feel great except for a recent gas bubble on my upper left abdomen. For my first meal? I honestly don't know! I'm not craving anything. I'm honestly shocked by this. Other people get all weird when they're eating around me, feeling guilty but it doesn't bother me at all. I know I am in the healing phase and I don't want to mess this up. BTW, I had at least one huge bruise, too, which got worse before it got better. I can literally feel my port with my hand. Can you?
  9. That's great about the infection rate. I wish there was a way to independently determine that. But again, I still went there and loved it not knowing the exact numbers.
  10. Thank you ladies! I really appreciate your advice!
  11. Amigas, I started protein drinks today. So this morning I had my usual coffee, followed about half an hour later by a protein drink. Then I felt the need to burp and it kinda hurt. But it also felt like it would hurt if I burped so I didn't. I was very uncomfortable. Any of you have this? Thanks, Margaret post-op day #7
  12. These are funny! Only to us unique humans, though. LOL
  13. I really love how Dave wrote, "And I should know better about getting medical care in Mexico." As an RN, I feel the same way yet I am very, very impressed with the OCC and the staff. My only complaint is that I don't know how to find out any statistics about the place - like infection rates, etc. Obviously, that didn't deter me from getting my surgery done on September 25!
  14. Hi Matilda, I am feeling MUCH better now that I can have drinkable yogurt. I was not doing well on clear liquids. Frankly clears for 7 days seems a little severe to me because one just cannot get balanced nutrition with it and one needs excellent nutrition to heal wounds. I can totally understand 3-4 days of clears but not 7. That's just me, I guess. So, yes, I am feeling way better. As long as I'm not lightheaded and weak like I was on clears, I can do the 21 days. I know it's for optimal healing of the band on my stomach and I am all for that! Margaret
  15. I got so lightheaded with the clear fluids that I contacted Dr. Miranda today and she okayed me starting drinkable yogurt today, day 5 post op. Thank goodness. Then protein shakes the day after tomorrow. I was getting pretty bitchy....
  16. Dr. Martinez spent a lot of time talking with me. I didn't find him attractive at first but he became so.
  17. Okay, friends. I think I'm not supposed to life anything heavy for awhile after surgery, correct? Well, I've been very conscious of that as I have a 55 pound child and a 36 pound child. But just now as I was sitting at the kitchen table, my 36 pound kid asked to sit on my lap and I unconsciously lifted him onto my lap and - maybe I'm imagining this - I feel a little tug in my lower left abdomen. ??? Where I don't even think there was any surgical action going on. Am I crazy to be worried? I do not want to get obsessed about this but I think I'm getting obsessed with all of this. It's so weird to only drink clear fluids, too. Wah! What a baby I am. I'm going to spank myself now.
  18. Kind of scary and disheartening that they have all gained some weight back...
