  1. I forgot to mention that after our fills, we are all going over to JazzyJude's house for cocktails and grill some big fat juicy steaks. Perhaps some bread and dry chicken would be good too.
  2. See you there tnm. Our flight arrives at 9:50am, so we might be on the same shuttle. The fill is pretty cool to watch. I thought about doing a video of my first one for my wife to watch since my youngest daughter came with me last time, but I didn't. My older daughter is coming with me this time. That keeps me away from any of the wicked side of TJ.
  3. It's very complex. They weigh you, check your body fat content, take photos of you, and don't forget to take your food journal with your for them to examine or you'll really be in trouble. Nah, I'm lying. It takes about 10 minutes. I just went in with Dr. So and we actually talked about Mexican wrestling for most of the time. Very painless and the flouroscope was very interesting to watch. They didn't weigh me and Dr. Miranda wasn't there. I'll be there Friday for my second fill and soaking up some of the Tijuana sun.
  4. If you ask at the clinic or the hotel, they can call the border and see how long the wait is to walk across. They did this for us at the hotel both times and the info was right on. When I got my band done, we went across on Sat. at around 7:30 and the wait was around 45 min. or so. The guys at the hotel told us to wait until around 10am the next time, so when I got a fill we did, and we just walked right up to the desk to cross.
  5. Wow, Congratulations to you and your mom. I will be there getting my second fill on the 16th. If you will be staying at the Lucerna, maybe I'll see you there. I will be there with my daughter. I am down about 100 lbs, but still have a ways to go. Good luck to your mom and see ya'll in TJ.
  6. Definately get the fill when you first get there in case you are too full. Read Julieburns posts if you have any questions about the reasons why. The fill only takes 5 minutes and you won't be restricted at all except in what you eat, and we are all doing this to lose weight anyway aren't we. It won't stop you from doing anything else. I will be there getting my second fill Jan. 16 and plan to go out shopping with my daughter right after the fill.
  7. tnm75, I bet we will be on the same shuttle since our flight gets in around 10am on United. My appt. is at 11:30, but on my first fill, my appt. was at 1:30 and they got me in as soon as we got to the clinic. The fill only takes a few minutes and is painless. My name is Greg and my daughter and I will be flying in from Missouri. See ya'll there.
  8. Congratulations Julie. 95 lbs down for me, but I am at a stand still. hoped to be down 100 by year's end, but everybody keeps bringing food to work.
  9. I'll be there on the 16th. I have an appt. for my 2nd fill at 11am. My daughter and I will be staying at the Lucerna that night and heading back to San Diego Sat. to drive up the coast and then fly back home on Sun. She said she is looking forward to some full contact shopping on Revolution Ave. on Sat. afternoon.
  10. I have my 2nd fill sceduled for Jan. 16. My daughter is coming with me and then we are driving up the coast to LA the next day. Does anyone know where the Hollywood producers hang out. I think I could be the next action film star. Arnold and Stallone have gotten a little old.
  11. I tried the Centrum chewable, but they tasted like a dirt omelet, so I started using the Liquid Life from Sam's club and it is not that bad if you keep it in the fridge.
  12. Hello SheRee, don't worry. It's a piece of cake.
  13. Rhondasue, I made the call to OCC in July. I weighed 365. I was banded on Aug. 14 and weighed about 330. This morning I weighed 273 and I don't feel like I have really been hungry. Yes, there have been times when I wanted to eat what I wasn't supposed to, but that wasn't hunger, just the old habits creeping back up on me. I haven't been sick at all, no gas pains, pb's, throwing up or anything. I realize that I have been very fortunate, but many have had the same experiences just as many have had bad experiences. I really feel that this is working great for me, but there has to be some lifesyle modifications with the band. It does not keep me from eating too much, it doesn't make me put less on my plate, but reminds me that it is time to stop. I feel like if you go into this with the right attitude, you will get the right results. With the wrong attitude and it is probably miserable.
  14. Anybody want to join in with a rousing chorus of "All I want for Christmas is my new Lap Band, my new lap band". I think we have a catchy hit on our hands.
  15. Good story and good man. If I weren't a guy and a flaming heterosexual and married, that's the kind of guy I would look for. Congratulations on all you've accomplished so far and hope better even to come. I know I couldn't have done this without the support of my wife.
  16. EAS Myoplex from Sam's Club. Get the powder, it is much better tasting than the ready to drink boxes.
  17. It helps if you are pretty darned fat to start out with, so I had a huge advantage in that department!
  18. I haven't been on for a while, even though I have been reading. Just wanted to chime in with how much this crazy band is affecting me. I went all through Thanksgiving without being able to gain a pound. Here I am, a great chef, cooking for everyone just like on other Thanksgivings, but I can't stuff myself full of food like everyone else. In the past, I could just about eat a whole turkey, or at least would try. I sure hated to hurt everyone's feelings by only taking a very small portion of what they had brought to the feast. Very embarrassing for a big boy like me to only be able to eat the child size plate. I guess next year I'll have to eat at the children's table in the den, but maybe I'll be able to fit in the chairs. All kidding aside, I was banded on Aug 14, and am down over 90 lbs. I am hoping to hit a hundy by the end of the year. When I called the OCC in July, I never thought I would be able to reach that goal, so I never set one. Looks like it might be fairly easily hit now. I have had 1 fill, and thinking about getting another small tweek.
  19. Wassup BigDaddy, I'm a BIG Daddy too. I was banded Aug 14 in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz and haven't looked back. I am down over 80 lbs. since the diet started on July 1. I am still a Big guy, just not as big.
  20. Congrats Kimmy. I can't wait to bust out some of those old polyester disco suits I used to roll in.
  21. I just checked on their website, thedoctorstv.com, and they are advertising that the show tomorrow Oct. 24 is about a teenager with lapband. I would have to assume that that is the same show. They are sure getting it on quickly if they were just filming yesterday.
  22. 1) How old are you? Or age range - 47 2) Have you been overweight your whole life or did you gain weight as a result of pregnancies, surgeries... or whatever. This got me really wondering, so I looked back at old photo albums. I guess I started getting overweight at about 8 or 9, so pretty much my whole life. 3) How many times have you lost and gained (approximate times and how much on average). Probably nobody has lost 30 lbs. more times than I have. I guess it was the same 30 lbs. over and over. The problem is that every time I replaced it with 40 lbs. 4) After lap band surgery has your weight been coming off easier than when you dieted before? I guess it has been easier. I really don't eat as much, but I know if I exercised more, it would come off even faster. Just doesn't seem like enough hours in the day. 5) What is your average weekly weight loss? Haven't really had an average week. I am down 80 lbs. since I went on the diet July 1, and down 44 lbs since being banded on Aug. 14.
  23. Very interesting. Something we really need to remember. I know I have days where I don't get enough water intake. One more interesting fact about water. W. C. Fields once said that he never drank water because fish make love in it.
  24. Kim, as far as the weight loss, you're lookin' very good, but NKOTB, ugh, I think I'd rather have another vasectomy.
