  1. Yes Carrie...I agree...call your doc!!! I would be freaking out too...don't blame yourself. Best of luck to you and I hope things get better soon... :lb18:
  2. Hi Jewels! :lb14: Welcome to our group! I joined a few months ago before having my lap band surgery and I seriously couldn't have done it without this group. They are so wonderful and almost ANY question you have can be answered. I found that the easiest way to get the tracker is to double click on anyone's tracker and it will take you right to the site. Best of luck and I look forward to getting to know you better...
  3. Hi TheDon :lb9: Congrats on your decision to get the band. It will truly be the best thing you have ever done for yourself. I was the same way as you...worried....but I can honestly tell you that it was not difficult at all and I had absolutely no pain. I shopped for 6 hours the day after my surgery and the day of my surgery I went back to the hotel and got a wonderful nights sleep because I was doing so well. I know everyone is different, but I truly believe that keeping a positive attitude makes such a big difference. I am concerned with your preop diet, however. You need more than coffee and milk. Let us know about why you are doing this diet if you don't mind. Are you taking any protein? You need it!
  4. I had no bruising at all but I DID have that betadine stuff all over. Then, 10 days after my lap band surgery I had laparascopic surgery on my knee...so I had an ugly yellow knee too...I'm just a mess!!! lol
  5. I don't think that the port moves, but I think that the skin moves and so it appears that the port is moving. We were discussing this in another thread earlier today. As we lose weight, it's normal for our skin to fall a bit I would think. Because we "measure" our port by where it is in relation to our "scars," I think this is the case. I'm certainly not an expert, but it's just what I am thinking after discussing it...
  6. I flew nonstop on Midwest and it was great! Also, I only live about 15 miles from the airport, so it's not bad for me.... I will check out the Farecast site! Thanks much!
  7. Yep...I tried a change of position and mine moves around too...lol. I didn't think of it either! Must be the drugs they gave us that day...they were "stronger than usual." lol Also, I asked my physical therapist and she said she didn't know for sure but thought that she'd heard it happened with different types of laparoscope surgery. So, it might be a little bit of both!
  8. That's GREAT Cathy!!! You are doing so well!
  9. I obviously can't answer regarding the fluoro vs not fluoro thing since I haven't had my first fill yet, but I can tell you that I bet 9 out of 10 of us probably have these same fears to some extent or the other. I am a HUGE worry wart! I used to be a LOT worse when I was younger and have one worry wart daughter out of the five of them. I think that everyone worries to some degree and I think it would be weird if someone DIDN'T worry about their surgery in at least one aspect. This issue is a definite concern of mine and I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable with having a fill without fluoro at least for the first time just because how can they KNOW they have hit the port if they don't see it? I completely think your concerns are valid and I bet almost everyone will share them with you...
  10. Thanks guys! That sounds reasonable. My airfare from KC is $250 so I have to add that onto my cost. Dang I wish I was rich! lol
  11. Can anyone tell me all the costs involved with going back to the OCC for fills? I have written an email twice, and am not getting an answer. I will probably call, but I'd rather have it written down so I can take it all in. What do they charge and what all is covered if you went there for your surgery? Anyone that can help please let me know since I really want to go back there rather than do it here. Thankie!!!
  12. Hey Jess I answered this a bit on your question about your bump, but to answer more for what you asked...my port is definitely BELOW my port (looking down from the top. I can feel my port with my fingers and also it is still a bit tender. When I turn over on my side, sometimes I have to hold it with my hand since it is tender. I have a feeling that you might have what my physical therapist said is common for some people who have the laparoscope to get a little pocket of fluid. If it is the port, it will feel harder than a pocket of fluid I would think. Also, you might feel a bit of tenderness with the port, but then again maybe the fluid is tender. I'd definitely give them a call just to satisfy your mind on this. I'm going to ask my physical therapist today when I go.
  13. That is SO weird!!! I have been getting the hiccups and NEVER got them before and thought I was just weird! This explains things! I had a weird thing happen Friday night. My husband grilled some fresh salmon on the grill and I must not have chewed enough on a piece because I started to have this weird feeling (which wasn't stuck...but I think was close to stuck)...then I had that feeling that you get right before you vomit where you get all this saliva in the back of your mouth...but just a tiny bit and then it all went away. Later on in the meal it happened to me again with a bit...exactly the same...so that's when I stopped. I think I got a PREVIEW of PBing and sliming without actually doing it since everything went down and it never was bad. I think I won't eat salmon for a while....lol
  14. Ohhhhh that's horrible! That honestly is my greatest fear...;( I hope you feel better soon...being sick is so horrible! :lb18:
  15. :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: You look SPECTACULAR!!!!!
  16. Hey Jess, I would at first think that it was the port...but you say that it is ABOVE your larger incision. I definitely could be wrong, but I thought that most ports were below the incision. I guess that it could depend a lot, but my port (which I can barely feel) is definitely about 2 inches below my incision (looking down). The pocket of fluid makes sense to me because when I went to my first physical therapy session for my knee last Friday, the therapist told me that occasionally a pocket of fluid forms by one of the lapband incisions and she massaged the areas. I thought it was just with the knee surgery, but I have it again today and I'm going to ask her if it can happen with ANY laparoscopic surgery. I don't think it would hurt to call the OCC to ask though either.
  17. Yay for you! Have a safe recovery!
  18. Dang!!! No one else? I thought everyone would be able to add to this?
  19. :lb13: :lb13: YAYYYYY!!!!! I LOVE to hear stories like this! Congrats!
  20. I have absolutely no numbness anywhere on my tummy.......
  21. I was watching some online videos, and I saw a girl getting a fill. I was really surprised to see her port was down by her belly button. My port is fairly high up on my left side and it got me to thinking and wondering if there is a specific spot for the port to be or does it just depend on the doctor? I know obviously if a person has a shorter torso, there wouldn't be as much room, but I just generally thought they were supposed to be higher up. Just curious...
  22. :lb10: :lb13: :cheerleader: :lb16: :good2: :party2: Congrats!!!!!! You are doing such a great job girlie! I knew you'd lose a bunch and I'm super proud of you!!!!
  23. I will be there around one of the above times for my first fill, but haven't scheduled it yet. I'll let you know though...
  24. I liked the Slim Fast, but these shakes were delicious and a great price: http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/bsn/dessert.html I bought Chocolate Fudge and Coconut Fudge and they were really good! Best of luck to you!
  25. I'll be thinking of you today Stormy! I had my surgery exactly 3 weeks ago today and feel absolutely wonderful. You will do fine and you'll be home before you know it. You are doing all of this for your son and you are doing what is best so think of it that way. Of course you will miss one another, but your getting healthy for him is what is best. I'm so proud of you for doing this...I know it was hard for you. But, by the time you read this it will be all over and you are on your way to a new life of health! :lb10:
