  1. How EXCITING Cathy! Just don't stop coming here and encouraging all of us once you are all slim n sleek!
  2. I feel bad for you...that's gotta suck! It seems like 1/2 the people have the runs from the liquid diet and the other 1/2 are constipated. I was constipated. Heck, I've been banded for 3 weeks tomorrow and I've only gone to the bathroom maybe 1/2 a dozen times since I had my surgery. When I was younger this was really common for me but after I had my gallbladder out in 98 I had what they call "dumping syndrome".....well the constipation is back.... Honestly...I don't know which is worse....but probably the runs. Hopefully it will pass soon!
  3. Hi Jessica, I know exactly what you mean because I feel the same way. I am actually afraid to start eating because I don't want to get anything "stuck." I get full with just a small amount of soup. I am glad you asked this because I have wondered too. Maybe the day we had our bands they did something magic to us...lol The worst part for me has been the 2nd surgery I had last week (on my knee) and it has been slow going. Probably when you get on the scales you will have lost like 20#!
  4. :lb4: Take a deep breath....you will do fine....
  5. You were beautiful before, but absolutely GORGEOUS with the weight off! You have such a wonderful smile and it's obvious that you are just ecstatic! Way to go!!!! :lb10:
  6. Also...there are sublingual B12 that dissolves under your tongue. I actually think these taste good...lol
  7. It's been slow going for me. I will be 3 weeks postop this coming Friday and I've only lost 6 pounds since banding. I actually GAINED when I started the creamy soups. It's a bit discouraging for me, but I have to remember that for me it might be a bit different because I had knee surgery a week ago and I literally have not been able to MOVE much to even get my body going. So I'm pretty scared to start real food again, but I have to remember that this is a process and I know that by now I would have probably GAINED an additional 10# since that's the way my scale was going before I got banded....
  8. Well gosh Michelle! Look at it this way...you will have less to lose before goal! One of my daughters is a personal trainer and they truly do take all of this stuff to the extreme. I don't mean this in a bad way, but have her explain it more to you so that it's more understandable. I'm really proud of you...you look just wonderful!
  9. :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: :lb21: YAYYYYYY!!!!!!
  10. Oh GOD that sounds awful!!! I'm so sorry that happened to you and hope you feel better soon. I am terrified to experience that. I WON'T be eating beef for sure..... :lb20:
  11. Stormy, One thing about the "knock off" purses.....DON'T pay a penny more than $20 for ANY of them...including the larger ones. The purse I wanted was a knock off Gucci and it had a price of $125 on it. I have bought really good knock offs before in Florida and paid a bit more, but even though this one was a larger one, I eventually ended up paying $20 for it. Once summer is over and the tourists are gone, they are desperate for a sale down on Revolucion Ave and will pretty much take anything you give them. I bartered with this gal for about 20 minutes over the purse and started walking away several times. I started out saying that I would only pay $20 and kept starting to walk away and she would call me back. Finally, she was broken down...lol...and I got the purse. I love it! It's super sturdy and looks great...but it's not worth more than $20. Same with the jewelry. They have some nice silver stuff, but they will take a LOT less than they originally ask. As far as the pharmacies, I did end up buying 4 boxes of the sublingual medication that the OCC gives you 4 pills of, but that is more because I am allergic to every single pain medication on the US market except tramadol and toradol (which is what they give you). So, I was so happy I had it when I had my knee surgery last week because if I hadn't gotten it, I wouldn't have had it since they either don't prescribe that here in the US or just don't like to give it (the toradol). Anyway, have a blast and we will see you on the other side! > > >
  12. Good for you for staying strong!!!! I know how difficult it is. I have 2 more days after today on this postop diet and over the weekend some of my daughters came from out of town for a visit. My husband ordered pizza and I got to eat soup. My husband grilled and I got to eat soup. But, like you said, it's over now and I'm proud of myself for staying on the diet. To be honest, I'm a bit afraid of what I will eat when it's time for me to eat....I KNOW I'm not going to be one to shove everything in my mouth because I'm terrified of getting something stuck...lol. Anyway...congrats to you for staying on target! :lb13:
  13. Valeen, I just had my surgery done by Dr. Ortiz 2 weeks ago and am ecstatic! I came to this forum to investigate doctors and once I did, there was no comparison. I LOVED Dr. Ortiz and everything about the surgery.
  14. All the best to you Cara! Have a wonderful time on your "spa vacation" and this truly is "the first day of the rest of your life!" >
  15. I have the same problem Cathy. I am hoping that mine is from 2 surgeries in 2 weeks, anesthesia and pain meds, but you just never know for sure. I hope you can get things going because I know how defeating it can be to not be able to "function" normally. ;(
  16. GORGEOUS!!!! You look absolutey fabulous! You are such a huge inspiration Michelle!!! :lb10:
  17. If you stay at the Lucerna, they have WONDERFUL food! My husband and I had a fantastic meal the night before. I was also able to get great chicken broth room service after surgery...hehe
  18. Wow! Makes ya wonder why some doctors are even in this business! That's what scares me the most about going somewhere besides OCC for my fills...thanks for sharing and glad you got what you wanted. Also...you have a great sense of humor about it...lol
  19. Best of luck to you Stormy! I wish you the best and can't wait to hear about how wonderful of a time you had. Seriously, it's not at all like surgery, but more like you are going to a resort. My husband and I had so much relaxing time that you probably will have a nice relaxing period of time out by the pool and you can think about things with an even clearer mind. Talk to you soon! :beach:
  20. I definitely DO wish every surgery was as easy as the lapband!!! Tanya ~ it was only left meniscus repair (I had 2 tears) and is supposed to be a really easy surgery, but the overall experience was not good! I guess I'm just going to compare every surgery I have for the rest of my life to OCC...and nothing can compare to them!
  21. The ignorance that people display is absolutely amazing sometimes! When I had my knee surgery 2 days ago, I had to tell them that I was less than 2 weeks out from lapband surgery. The nurse who was putting my IV in and getting me ready was a bit surprised when I told her (she looked shocked and raised her eyebrows), and she said "You certainly are a gutsy lady," but she was really nice to me and didn't say anything negative. She did ask about the clinic itself and the nurses, etc. I told her it was absolutely immaculate and that everyone was wonderful. I personally think that the people who are negative about it are just jealous...either of the fact that you took charge of your weight while they can't, or that they wanted you to have your surgery there so they could get the money. I would have been mad too...but just chalk it up to ignorance... :lb20:
  22. Hey guys I'm back! It was absolutely the worst surgery I've had as far as how I felt afterwards. I have no clue why, but I came out of anesthesia in a TON of pain and had really severe pain until about a couple of hours ago. I was up most of the night with bad pain in my knee and it was hell getting me to and from the bathroom. My poor husband helped me to and from, but I literally couldn't put any weight on my leg. It sucked! Oh, and another thing...I am allergic to every pain med except tramadol and toradol. I woke up to not only the pain, but itching and hives all over because the idiots gave me Darvocet! Oh well...I'm glad it's over with anyway and now I can move on with my getting healthy. Hopefully NO MORE surgeries for a while! And, Jessica, when I put that photo up I thought about you being behind the curtain and thought it would have been so funny if you had stuck your head through while we were taking it!
  23. Just wanted to let everyone know I don't know when I'll be on again since my knee surgery is scheduled for this morning. I hear that it's a pretty easy surgery so hopefully that's true. I guess the only thing I'm really worried about is being put under anesthesia again in 2 weeks... Wish me luck!
