  1. After 7 days I added drinkable yogurt into my diet and Jello. It wasn't until day 10 did I add creamy soups and protein shakes. I did that for 21 days. It was mentioned to me to stay away from the blinder only because i might make things to thick! So if you do make sure they are on the watery side. Take it slow and don't push your band!

Wishing you the best of luck,

    Jenelle

  2. I have been banded with a 10.0cm band. Does this mean that I have a 10cc band? I am a little confused....the internet hasn't helped in answering this question for me.

I have also read (I might even be misunderstanding) that there is a 10.0cm band that hold 4cc?

Let me know if you have the answer!

  3. You are so right!!! Thank you so much for posting and reminding me that this journey is very very personal and what works for you may or may not work for me. 40 pounds is very impressive too. Don't be down on yourself for that, if you ever were?! Take a look at what 40 pounds of potatoes look like, and losing is always better than gaining.

I like to remind myself that the slower I lose the weight the longer I will keep it off!!

    All the best to you!

  4. I am sorry to hear that things are crazy for you right now! Just remember that this is not a race to lose the weight it is a life journey. There will always be bumps in the road.

I have been thinking about you lately and I was happy to see that you had made a post.

In our toughest moments we need someone to talk to and lean on, we are all here for you. Sometime writing it down makes all the difference.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Jenelle

  5. Try to stay away from the benzoyl peroxide, it dries the skin out and makes you produce more oil than you would naturally. I found that if I use it as a spot treatment rather than an all over treatment it works better for me. I have very oily skin!

    Just a thought,

  6. I have been having a heck of a time this past two weeks to get the scale to move for me. After reading some of the posts yesterday about other people not having the scale move for them just before their first fill it made me feel a little better.

I love to wear belts and I have not worn mine since summer, one because it was to tight and I was not going to buy a bigger one and two my clothes have been so tight I didn't need to wear one. So after losing 37 pounds since June and 17 of those since my surgery my clothes are falling off of me :P. I reached into the back of my closet this morning and pulled out the old belt, put it on and I am able to put it two notches tighter than the last time I wore it, and there is only one more notch to go and I will have to buy a new one!

Just thought I would share my cloud nine news,

    Jenelle

  7. My mom told me that when I lose weight to look out I will be cold all the time, well until your body adjusts to it. I am 253 and at 290 I was hot all the time on matter how cold it is out side, I think a lot of big people are like that. Now that I am losing weight and I down only a little I am finding that I am colder than what I use to be. My mom lost 20 to get to her goal weight just by diet and exercise and she says that she gets the chills so quickly!

I hope that helps a little. I'm not sure why we get cold but we do! You would think because you are losing weight your circulation would get better, but on the other hand your not huffing and puffing around to make yourself hot!

  8. I have been so hard on myself this past week, almost to the point of tears every night. The scale has been so mean to me, it hasn't moved in almost two weeks. I am glad to hear that I am not the only on going through this right now. My first fill is March 2 and it cant come soon enough. I have been able to eat everything and anything this past week and it makes me mad. I paid way to much to be able to eat like I did before I had the surgery.

I AM SO HAPPY TO HEAR THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE! Thank you to everyone who has posted on this topic, I am so happy. I am going to have a great day now!

I'm hope they give me a good fill at the OCC, I am going to ask them to be aggressive! I live to far away to keep flying down there for fills, but money is no object when it comes to my health!

    Have a good one,

    Jenelle :D

  9. Thanks Jazzy Jude,

I am drinking coffee separate from eating breakfast, and I hate to say it but carbs are my down fall. I will kick up the protein now that I am working out. I told the girls at curves that I can't do abs, they said that was no problem.

I drink more at night than throughout the day, I will try to drink more during the day and even it out. I get about 1.5L to 2L a day in.

That's a good point about eating 1/3 what I use to eat. I most diffidently doing that! Its amazing how much food I actually ate before, gross!!

    Thank you for you support,

    Jenelle

  10. I am getting nervous that I have screwed up my band! I am pretty sure that I am just over thinking but I hope someone out there can tell me that everything is just fine.

    So here's why.....

I am eating approx. 1200 cals a day maybe more maybe less depending on the day. I have be doing very little exercise up to now but tonight I am starting to working out at Curves. I had my surgery a month ago! I go for my first fill March 2.

I feel as though I am stretching my pouch, every time I eat. I have coffee in the AM, with oatmeal, or yogurt something to get me going. Then for Lunch I have tuna and crackers or a small salad, maybe a pudding for dessert. Then it all goes down hill from there. I am a night eater, so when I'm at work everything is fine, I don't feel hungry or full. As soon as I get home, its look out kitchen. I eat a lean cuisine dinner, which fills me, and then I drink herbal tea for the rest of the night to stop me from eating. I mean I'm not eating a lot of food, But eating and then drinking makes me so full. I start to drink about 30-45 min after dinner. I feel that I am pushing the limits, I know what the answer is, I need to stop drinking so much tea, and water. But I thought it was good for you and should it not just run through the band?

Does anyone else get full and stay full for hours after eating dinner? I'm I over doing it? Do you think I'm stretching my pouch? I cant wait to get my fill at the OCC, and for me see my pouch. Oh and I have not lost any weight since I have been able to eat a week ago, while on liquids I lost 17 pounds since the surgery and now I have stopped, Is that another sign that I am eating to much?

    Thanks for listening,

    Jenelle

  12. I think it is funny what people say about Tijuana, yeah sure they have their problems with guns and drugs, etc. But so does every other City in the world. I know here in Calgary Alberta, there seems to be a shooting every other day, gang related. Its all media perception!

I felt very safe walking around in Tijuana, just as I do here in my own city. Of course there are areas that you should not go to, but there are areas here that I would not go too!!

Remember don't be a walking target, where ever you are in the world.

I found Tijuana to be very clean, there was not a piece of garbage anywhere on the streets or side walks, the trees where trim and the grass was cut, can you say that about the downtown core of your city? I know I can't.

    Just my thoughts,

    Jenelle

  13. I was never really told about the port flipping and I guess it makes sense. I was able to sleep on my tummy after 3 nights. I hope my port didn't flip. I must be one of those lucky people that either heals fast or pain just does not effect me. You never know you might be like that as well. Don't push yourself but you might be able to sleep on your tummy sooner than you think!

Prior to the surgery I was a mess worrying about all the little things, but I found this to be a lot easier then I thought. Try not to over think, relax and take it one night/day at a time.

  14. I have been banded for 21 days now and I finally get to eat tomorrow, just for fun I was keeping track of the calories that I was drinking in the past few weeks. I am hitting 900-1200! I really don't think that I will be able to eat much more than that once I can start eating.

It will be even easier to stick to 1200, once I have my first fill.

I hope that helps you! So in the long run yes, im eating 1200, walking and taking the stairs at work.

    Jenelle

  15. I agree, I'm 5'7". The clinic told me that a good range would be 186-196, I too think this is to close to the dreaded 200 mark. I am going to go for a size more than a number, I think 8/10 should do it for me. Although I am trying to get down to 160, I thought 145 would be cool. That way I could say I lost 50% of my weight but I don't feel that is maintainable! So we will see what number I am when I can slide into a size 8 jean!! :P

To be honest, just as long as I can Hike, Camp and do all my favorite outdoor activities I will be happy!

  16. Hey there Guys and Gals,

I am on Day 15 of my post op diet, its going a lot better than the pre op diet. Question....How do you know if you have stretched the pouch? I haven't cause I have been really good about following the Dr's orders, but just thought I would ask. I stop eating when I am full or when I think im full. I have been noticing over the past few days that I am able to eat more soup, still only about a cup or so, than what I was able to eat lets say a week a ago. I have been on creamy soups for 6 days now. I am so scared that I will stretch my pouch at meal time that I really dont think that I am eating enough, I think this because I am hungery about 30 to 45 min after I eat. I am drinking lots of water. I know everyone is different and what you might feel is different than what I might feel, maybe you can answer in a generalized way.

So to recap I am eating about 1 cup of soup and hungery 30 min after, I want to eat a little more so that Im not hungery so soon after but I dont want to stretch the pouch. AHHHHH, why am I thinking about this so much!!! This really shouldn't be this hard!

    Thanks guys and gals,

    Jenelle
