  1. That does seem low for a 10cc band (you do mean 10cc and not 10cm right? Common type but it makes a huge difference). Did they use flouro to determine the proper amount or was it blind? Fills with flouro are more precise and they can afford to be a bit more aggressive since they're keeping an eye on what's going on in there. Blind fills are best done conservatively and more often. They're also not the best situation for people getting their first fill as they require input from the patient to a large degree. If you don't know how much a fill is going to affect you then it's really nothing more than a guess.
  2. Please get in touch with the OCC and they will tell you how much surgery will be for you given your circumstances and needs. Posting the price for the surgery on the forum is against forum policy.
  3. More fill won't keep you from stretching out your pouch. Good eating habits and not eating yourself sick will. Also, there's nothing wrong with letting out a good belch. You swallow air when you eat or drink that before surgery would just move through your system. Now with the band it can't do that anymore and comes out the other direction. Perfectly normal, perfectly healthy.
  4. I don't see why not on general principal. However, since websites are fluid things I'm concerned that it would become primarily populated with broken links. I'm going to be on vacation for the next few days so if people are interested they should say so on this thread and either I'll look into it when I get back or one of the other mods will put it up. Ackovach, if someone mentions a website in a former post you can always use the search features of this forum or if you know the person who posted it you can click on their name and choose Find Member's Posts.
  5. Are you getting an error message, it's not taking, or are you unable to find where to do it at?
  6. You probably pulled a stitch. You're not doing any heavy lifting or using your abdominal muscles at all are you? Go easy on it for a day or two. If it doesn't get better or you start showing fever or other signs of infection then it's time to call the clinic.
  7. Here you go! http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s61/clynn17/Corey/ Sadly, no recent pictures as my camera drowned in a pool of fruit punch, but at least it was sugar-free fruit punch. It is survived by my hand held GPS and my cell phone who now smell quite fruity and delicious. I've set up a memorial fund in its name and will choose a successor when I get around to actually putting money in it.
  8. Sugar alone isn't going to hurt your band but it's not going to help you lose any weight. If possible, stick to the sugar free versions of things.
  9. It burns, trust me As for your question, I don't know what restaurant you're talking about but as long as what goes into your mouth can fit through a straw, you're fine.
  10. I know for a fact he does do those things from time to time since he was in Seattle last year for the Seattle Bandster Bash. http://www.lapbandforum.com/index.php?showtopic=1066
  11. I got it from both sides. My gyno was dead set against surgery even before I'd considered that as an option. No problem, however, telling me to lose weight without providing any support or referrals to actually help me with that. No, I'm not bitter about that. At my last appointment with her I was down about 100 lbs and I STILL got the idea from talking to her that she was looking for problems. I swore not to go back to her after that appointment. My general physician on the other hand thought the lap-band would be a real opportunity for me, though it took him a bit to come around to the idea of Mexico. He left me a voice mail which I played several times in which he said "I cannot medically recommend that you do this." Once I told him all about Dr Ortiz and he did his own research he was incredibly supportive, and I think would have even driven me to the airport if I had asked. My mom could start a whole thread wherein she tells of the stories she's experienced dealing with her 95 year old mother and doctors who just WON'T EFFING LISTEN and end up causing unnecessary hurt and/or expense. I guess what I'm trying to say with this post is that it doesn't matter how much education someone has had, they can still be an ass.
  12. As someone on my support group said, "You wouldn't have this problem if you'd had it done in Mexico," and after all I've read you couldn't pay me to have it done in the States. Hope you're feeling better soon. I know anxiety attacks suck. I take warm baths to help relax when I get on edge. You should be ok with a bath if you don't put anything in the water and keep your incisions dry. A little water like from a shower won't hurt them but you don't want them soaking.
  13. The stomach can get irritated during the night but there are a few things you can try to minimize this. Stop eating solids a few hours before you go to bed. I'm usually in bed 10:30 - 11 and I have to stop eating by 9 or there's going to be trouble. If you have allergies, even mild ones, get some over the counter Clariten. If your nose is drippy due to your allergies it can go down into your stomach at night and create a sort of mucus plug. Wear pajamas that don't put any pressure on your torso. If that doesn't work you may have to work around it by having a protein shake or something else easy on your stomach for breakfast. Don't go for anything high calorie but you still need to get your nutrients in. Breakfast is very very VERY important as if you don't get some calories in within about an hour or two after getting up your body will think you're starving and won't let you lose any weight. For this same reason you need to be very careful to get in enough calories during the day. 1200 is a good goal for someone trying to lose weight. Having too few will also send your body into starvation mode. I've heard plenty of people lament that they eat next to nothing but still haven't lost an ounce. Once they got an unfill the pounds starting coming off quite nicely.
  14. Where were you banded at? Severe pain is not normal and you should let your surgeon know you're experiencing this.
  15. According to Google, 1 cc = 0.00422675284 US cups, so there really isn't much missing. It's common for the doctor to pull out less on the second fill than went in on the first fill due. Since a needle isn't a hard vacuum not every drop of saline is going to come out again.
  16. This is a question better suited towards your prescribing doctor.

If you pb you are supposed to stop eating for at least an hour as your stomach can get irritated and swollen which then leads to more pb'ing.
  18. Only because my hand's there holding everything in place
  19. Yup, you should just go on a diet. Alcoholics, you should just stop drinking. Drug addicts, just stop using. Smokers, just stop smoking. Oh, and cancer patients, just stop being sick. Our bodies simply don't work that way or we would have done it YEARS ago or even never gotten fat in the first place. The fact of the matter is that the percentage of people who need to lose the amount of weight you do and actually achieve it and keep it off without surgical intervention is staggeringly low (the most common number I've heard is about 3%). Getting banded isn't about looking good in a bathing suit, it's about getting healthy and adding years to your life and significantly increasing the quality of those years. Do what you need to do to achieve that, not what un-educated people believe you should be doing to fit their world view.
  20. Here you go. Only the main incision is noted since they others are too small to show up on the camera.
  21. You probably would have been ok if you had stopped as soon as you felt a problem with the chicken, and pasta is one of the hardest foods to get down as it just forms a sticky mass like glue once it's chewed up. I've sworn off bread and pasta forever. As time goes on you'll become more attuned to your body and the more subtle signs it gives you to stop.
  22. *Moderator's Note* Saw this had been posted twice, so I merged them together so nobody's responses would get overlooked.
