  1. You should not crush Wellbutrin. Now that it is in generic you can find one that is much smaller than the brand. Hubby used to take it and the generic was much smaller. Other wise, just split it in half with a spliter. That's better than crushing because it maintains the integrety of the time release. The reason its ok to open a capsule and take the contents is because its the same as swalling it. As long as the beads are crushed the time release remains.
  2. Being in healthcare, I know that NOTHING comes without risks. Sometimes the best hospitals with the best staff and the best techniques have infections. Infection rates are rarely zero and if we are the unlucky one to experience that 1/1000 then its doesn't seem fair, does it? My heart goes out to her and her family.
  3. I'm a nurse that was recently banded and I can't tell you in words how wonderful the care was! It was up to par to any excellent center in the USA!
  4. I was approached buy a supposed pharmacists and asked if I would like to buy Vicoden or Morphine....I was a little tempted with all the gas pain...hahaha.... We got a cab and left right then. On a normal day I probably could have dealt with it but I was a little cranky the day after surgery and not up to the harassment.
  5. well, if there is a liquid choice I would ALWAYS go with the liquid. Especially the first few days after surgery, believe me you will not feel like swallowing a pill. Its hard to swallow enough water to get it down. I used the liquid tylenol and ibuprofen up until just a few days ago because its just more comfortable. The point being, if there is no liquid choice, then use the straw rule and if if its larger, then split or crush.
  6. You can get a pill crusher/splitter at any drug store and still take any meds as long as they aren't time released. If they are time released and they arent huge, you can take them anyway. Dr. Miranda told me that if a pill can fit through then end of a straw (just a measure, don't use the straw...lol) then I could take it whole. Hope this helps. Cindy
  7. hey, we don't live too far from each other.. PM me if you'd like to meet up sometime to walk....
  8. There is also one more that is similar. It is turkey and green beans. I've been living on them since sunday.
  9. My husband has lost wieight since I got the band too! And he's not even trying. I was always the one that was organizing and preparing meals and now that he's on his own, he isn't eating as much. He really doesn't need to lose any weight, so I'm going to have to be sure he eats. Isn't that crazy! I tried all my life and he loses by "osmosis"!
  10. I did the 3 week atkins option so I wouldn't feel hungry......eat all I want as long I don't get more than 20 carbs per day. I've always been pretty successful with Atkins so it was a good option for me but everyone is different.
  11. Unlimited but chosen wisely for caloric purposes (even though you're not really counting calories)... I'm sure you pouch is FINE. don't worry.
  12. they sched me for 5 weeks without any problems
  13. Believe me when I tell you this: for post op its a NO NO! I didn't believe it, but let me tell you, because they blend the drink in the blender it infused a large amount of air which is what "fluffs" it up. I got one from Jamba Juice on post op day 6 and I was SORRY! For pre-op, the calorie content would probably be too high.
  14. Once you get all sugar and carbs out of your system, the atkins shakes will start tasting MUCH better. The stawberry tastes like stawberry milk to me now.
  15. I've decided that I will STAY CLEAR of any fast food places! I have this thing where I decide, "Ok, I'm going to go to McDonalds and get a salad" Then once I'm at the drive-thru that all changes! So, no more since my surgery for any reason. That is one of the pacts I have made to myself as I am working on my plan with Overeaters Anonymous! Just take that temptation completely away! Now, I'll have to talk to my car about not taking me there without my permission.....hahahaha
  16. I know it would be hard, but you can also report the situation to Eder Protective Services. Your mother is a victim of elder abuse at the hands of your sister. She is abusing her financially and not providing her with an acceptable place to live! I am sorry you are going through this. Cindy
  17. I say wait and see how you feel after the surgery and then decide if you need to lose more! I think you look great and once you have the surgery you will be just perfect!
  18. Yep, my husband has ask me before why so many McDonalds debits on the debit card.....oops, I forgot that would be there.....lol. And he's busted me with the french fries on the floor of the car.... Glad those days are OVER!
  19. That's hirlarious..!!! My dad probably won't recognize me either next time I see him in April.
  20. We bought a treadclimber 2 years ago and here goes my opinion. Its BIG. We could only fit that and a computer desk in our second bedroom. Its also very high so if you have a ceiling fan or if your ceilings are normal height, your head is iffy when you stip up. Its a lot of money, ($3300+) and if you are using their finance company, they suck. We had the no interest for 12 month thing, and I made the payment online at 3pm pacific time instead of by 3pm central time and they charged me all the accrued interest and raised my rate to 30%. So I transferred it to my credit union......Ughhhhh Then when we decided to move, we had a hard time selling it. People had used ones for sale for $600-800! Well, we ended up selling it for $1000 but were very lucky that the person that bought it was an engineer and able to completely disassemble it because we couldn't get it out of the room!!! (they assembled it upon arrival) We had movers that had said they would not move it due to the weight and they refused dissasembly. My husband used it more than me and he said that if he could do it over he would definitely get a durable treadmill instead. The treadmill setting on it is really useless. And it really isn't anything like an ellyptical....which I thought it would be. Now we live in an apt complex with a gym and we have our spare room with a bed in it for company instead of that big monster!! Sorry for the not so great opinion, but I'm still paying on something I don't even have anymore and its a thorn in my side!!! Oh, and they say that you can return it in 60 days for a full refund. Well, that's a full refund minus the 250 shipping to you and then $350 shipping back to them because you are required to use their packer and shipper. Then another 120 if you need to to disassemble it.
  21. I was told by Dr. Ortiz that once you go on solid food, that shakes should be eliminated because they go straight through the band and they are high in calories but you get no fullness from them. Maybe try cutting that out and increasing your protien intake in other ways.....
  22. I pm'd you with the list for your area. I think there are two approx. 17 miles away.
  23. I'm sure they have meeting in your area. I'll see if I can find something and let you know. If you want to PM and let me know your city.
