  1. I am SO excited to start creamy soups tomorrow, I can't hardly stand it! I have been really hungry for some reason, not the same kind of hungry I used to be but when I don't drink something for a while I get these awful headaches right in the back of my neck.
  2. I just have to say I have AMAZING and WONDERFUL friends! My friend, who had WLS about 5 years ago, came over to see how I was doing tonight and brought me a care package full of things she used to get herself through the liquids phase! She brought jello, liquid yogurts, crystal light, soups to go, a candle and a comfy night gown! Also, my husband has been so amazing as well. I can't pick up my daughter because she is a little on the heavy side and the dr.s at OCC said to avoid picking her up so he has stayed home from work with me to take care of her and let me rest the last 2 days and tomorrow. Just makes me feel so blessed to have such supportive and caring people in my life.
  3. Well it is great to know that I am not the only one! Hopefully this will stop in the next day or so and some of the bloating will go down! Cramps + the gas pain = PAIN!
  4. Me too Ckiki, I was smart and saved some stool softeners from when I had my c-section and took two of those and then had no problem a couple of hours later. I hope the benefiber works for you!
  5. Hey! Dr. Miranda wanted me to loose 12 lbs before surgery and I lost about 6. Just stick to the diet as best as you can and drink lots of water and you'll do great! It's good that you are starting a month before surgery too, that way you can allow yourself a couple of little "cheats"! Unless you gain a large amount of weight beforehand I doubt that you would be postponed, I haven't heard of anyone on her being postponed. You can do it!!
  6. Oh I hope I will burp again! It's one of those little things we take for granted and then *poof* can't do it anymore! I am praying the burps will come back soon! SlimColaGirl - I totally feel your pain and yes sick as it is I am glad someone else is going through it too!
  7. Great! Thanks for responding! I am the kind of person that is a bit of a worry wart so it helps to know that I am not having something unusual going on!
  8. Well I was on my period during the pre-op diet and it was over like 6 days before surgery. Now I am on day 4 of post-op and I started spotting last night and I am full on having another period as of this afternoon. At first I was freaked out thinking there was blood in my urine but it wasn't so that is a relief and means there is probably nothing wrong but I was just wondering if any of you actually started menstruating right after surgery out of cycle? This pretty much never happens with me because my BC pill regulates me really well. Just sucks because I am having so much gas pain in my abdomen already that now on top of it I have to deal with this! I have heard of people's periods stopping because of loosing weight but haven't ever heard of them starting because of it. Just curious, Thanks!!
  9. Well I guess all the pain is worth it because day 4 post op I am down 2.5 lbs! I am so excited to be through with surgery and able to start loosing weight and never finding it again!
  10. Jnlebean - Try not to stress too much, the surgery itself is a piece of cake! I never even really felt like I was in Mexico except when I was outside trying not to get run over! Just make sure to follow all the instructions and you'll be doing great! Quite a few of us were even able to go back to the hotel the day we had the surgery because we were feeling so good they didn't make us stay overnight. Congratulations Sawdawg! On another note, I am still in quite a bit of discomfort here on day 4. My gas is not going away and it comes in these horrible waves, ick! Hope everyone else who was banded last week is doing ok. I just started to feel some hunger today so I had a little bit of a liquid yogurt and it helped a lot. I am excited to start having creamy soups. It's funny I didn't think I would miss the food but sitting here while my hubby is eating teryaki next to me is like pure torture even though I made him get something from the menu that I don't even like!
  11. OMG I would kill to be able to burp right now! Farting hasn't been a problem but the gas pain and the not being able to burp is killing me slowly and painfully!
  12. We flew in yesterday morning and got to OCC about 11 for pre-ops then went to the Lucerna and spent the night relaxing and watching movies on HBO. Then we went back to OCC at 7 this morning and my surgery was at 12. I was feeling pretty well so they told me that I could go back to the hotel tonight at about 6:30. I couldn't have gone to San Diego tonight though and I am in quite a bit of pain so I probably could have gotten some better drugs for the night at the clinic if I had stayed, oh well at least I can be with my hubby and he's doing great taking care of me! Good luck on Monday, it is a piece of cake! Samantha
  13. Got banded today about 12! I am doing fairly well, the doctor let a few of us head back to the hotel tonight which is really nice because now I don't have to spend the night away from my hubby! I am feeling really sore around my abdomen but other than that I am not having any shoulder pain. yet that is. My husband and I are going to be heading back to San Diego tomorrow and spend the night with friends since we are pretty bored hanging out here at the hotel. The whole process was a LOT easier than I thought it would be and I am totally happy with the OCC and Dr. Ortiz and staff, great experience. Now begins the real work! YAY!!!
  14. I am such a ball of nerves today! First we found out that with a bunch of rain in the mountain passes they closed them all until further notice because of avalanches and mudslides. This would not be a big deal for me except for the fact that my mom lives on the other side and was supposed to come over here to babysit my daughter while we are gone. My sister is near us and is going to take great care of her even if my mom can't make it but I am totally freaking out about it! I have also not lost much weight, I was supposed to loose 12 lbs and I am only down about 5. I guess I just had too many "last time I can ever eat this" meals. I hope I don't get postponed. I am also really excited though, for the first time in my life what is on the inside is going to be visible on the outside and I am beyond ecstatic. I am not worried about post op diet at all because I am in a wedding at the end of the month and want to look smokin for it! Ok, so I wish all of you getting banded this week and next good luck and I will be sure to make use of the internet down there and update everyone.
  15. Well I ended up cheating last night, I felt a little guilty but I heard a lot of people can't have rice after surgery so I wanted Teryaki with sticky rice once more before hand. I felt bad but I got on the scale this morning and I am down another 1/2 lb. Wish it was more but I did cheat... I also started to get really nervous last night I guess I just realized that I am leaving in like 3 days and I am nervous to leave my baby and to fly and to go to TJ and all this stuff so needless to say, I didn't sleep much last night!
  16. Yeah I have been trying to do the weighing in with my pj's on just because I figured that they would weigh with clothes on, plus it will probably be a little later in the morning that I get weighed and I always weigh less in the early morning than in the afternoon... I am feeling really bummed today for some reason. I should be really excited but I think I have other things on my mind than trying to diet today, but I am doing good and not cheating though. Only a few more days until I am banded and that makes me very happy!
  17. Magnolia- I am in the same boat! I HATE HATE HATE Flying! I have flown into San Diego once before and it was no biggie but I still hate it, ugh! I am SO frustrated with this diet! It sucks! I am also just getting over my TOM and I lost 4 lbs right off but now it is fluctuating back and forth by a pound every day but not going below and I am about ready to throw my scale out the window! And I am SO hungry!! I hope they understand if I don't make it to the required 12 lbs, I hope to be at least 239 before surgery but I am a little worried with 5 lbs to get there that I am not going to make it... So frustrating. Looking forward to meeting a couple of you there though!
  18. Yeah 700 is about as many as I have been getting too... doesn't seem like enough but I am loosing weight pretty fast so I won't question it! I have been kind of bad tonight because its new years eve and there is food everywhere but hey it's new years, start fresh tomorrow and I am being good and not having any drinks. Which is hard since I am the ONLY one except the underagers that isn't drinking! Happy New Years to everyone! Let's hope 2009 is a skinny one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Hello! Pre-op diet is killing me too! My surgery is coming up in a week and two days and I started the day after Christmas and have done fabulously I think because I am already down almost 5 lbs, but it has been a total battle of wills because I am still "Home for the Holidays" until the 2nd and am constantly having food and goodies sitting in front of me and everyone around me is stuffing their faces! I will admit I have had a few small cheats but nothing that has put me over a 1000 calories a day at all. Which BTW - how many calories should we be having in our pre-op diets? I have also been really hungry... really really hungry... I have never been a veggie or salad person so it has been tough trying to force myself to eat the leafy stuff... Ok thanks for listening to my vent!!
  20. OMG one week and two days til I arrive! I am starting to get really nervous! Pre-op diet has been really hard since I am still home for the holidays around all those left overs and everyone sitting around eating... I am down 4 1/2 in 5 days which kicks butt but I am so hungry!!! My flight arrives at 10 am on Jan. 8th and surgery is scheduled for the 9th...
  21. OMG I can't believe that I am getting banded in less than a month! Wow came up so quick! I guess I better get started on that pre-op diet soon! I AM SO EXCITED!!!
  22. Wow you look amazing! Your clothes are hanging on you! I can't wait to get to that point, thanks for the motivation!!
  23. 1. Name: Samantha 2. Location: Kirkland, Washington 3. Age: 26 4. Band Date: 1/9/09 - YAY SO Excited! 5. Married: 2 1/2 Years! 6. Children of the human or furry kind: One of the Human Kind and One of the Furry kind! Naomi, my little girl is 10 months old and Max, my golden retriever, just turned 3! 7. Hobby(ies): Photography, thrift store shopping, and crafting of any kind 8. Work: SAHM 9. What was the deciding factor(s) on getting banded: So many factors but mostly the fact that my husband finally said yes! 10. Interesting factoid: I backpacked through Europe, pretty much on my own, for 3 months when I was 22. It was great, I lost 20 lbs and all I ate was pizza, pesto, chocolate and wine! But I walked everywhere though!
  24. Yeah probably! I am really hoping to get bumped up to the 8th... Have you started your pre-op diet yet? I think I should probably call Dr. Miranda to find out when to start it and how much I have to loose before surgery, I am so anxious its all I can think about!! I told my friends tonight about getting banded, I was really scared to tell them because they are all pretty thin so I was worried they would judge, but they didn't as far as I could tell and seemed pretty happy for me! WOOT!
  25. Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I needed a couple of ideas to start with! I think you can get the EAS in powder form at Costco so maybe I will try that. I personally love the Kashi Go-Lean Vanilla powder but it is high in sugar and pretty spendy so I think I should try something new... I am also used to blending up my protein shakes with fruit so going without doing that should be interesting!! My surgery is about a month away now and I am soooo excited! I can't even get into the Christmas spirit this year because all I can think about is getting banded!
