  1. For my pre op I did 2 protein shakes a day and then a sensible dinner, chicken with veg or a steak and veg. I really watched my carbs as I think that is my down fall. As for excercise I own a small hotel so I am always running around doing something. So I never went to a gym or anything. I wished I did because I am loosing weight but not getting more healthy. Need to build on my cardio and build lean muscle. The sooner you start your pre op the better you will feel. I wish you luck with everything. Let me know how you do. I will cheering you on.
  2. I have not had my first fill yet so I can not give any advice for you that way. Just some questions, how many fills have you had? Did you get them done at the OCC? When you say you are loosing your fill, do you mean that the band is loosing liquid? Wondering if you have just not found your " sweet " spot yet? I have heard alot of people say that when they get their fill on or around when they have their period they find it does not last long. I spoke to the clinic and they recomend taking a water pill so you are not retaining water when you get your fill. I am sure I am telling you nothing that you already knew. Just thought I would throw that out there. Keep us updated and good luck. Julie
  3. You look amazing.. Love your hair!!! Thank you for sharing..
  4. Going to Mexico on March 25th for my 1st fill on March 26th. Anyone going to be around?
  5. Thank you! As for what I did I just followed Dr. Mirandas rules. First week nothing but broth soups and juices, I was in San Diego on holiday the 1st week post op and so I did alot of walking. Then I went to creamed soups. One thing I did find was my mental hunger kept taking over my stomach hunger so I really had to watch that. Plus I found that since I could go to cream soups I felt like I had to eat more becasue wow something more filling. I splurged for a couple days and then realized I was just eating out of boredom and mental hunger. I am really learning what stomach hunger is and honestly since I started listening to my stomach and not my brain I am not hungry very often. The band is really working for me since I am working with it. How are you doing on your post op? I see you were banded not even 10 days ago.
  6. Hey Everyone, I am happy and proud to say that I am on day 19 Post Op and day 19 of my 21 day liquid diet. I am finding it really easy and not bad at all. I am also so happy I have lost 21lbs since surgery and 58lbs total since start of pre op. Wow!! I can not beleive that I have done it all in less then 2 months. I am going to go for my fill at the end of March and am excited for that. Has anyone done really well in the first 21 days and then stalled when you went to solid foods??
  7. Congrats and glad to hear everything is going good. I am a week post op and feel great too.. Keep us posted on who you are doing.
  8. Thank you everyone for such the kind words and support. I am a week out and doing awesome. Went to the Dr's yesterday and I am down 8lbs Post Op!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!
  9. Thats awesome.. Sorry I did not get to meet up wih you.. Might see you at the hotel tommarow... Good luck with breakfast!
  10. Well....... I am sitting here in my hospital bed after having my surgery today.. I feel great!!!!!! As seen in a prev post I was so scared to travel alone. And you were all right that said I would meet people and make friends here that were getting the same thing done today.I got to meet the people who had it done yesterday and was able to get advice and heat their experience. I am SOOOOOO glad I decided to come here and I am soo happy that I didn't chicken out. Only wished that I did this sooner. Everything is so nice and clean, everyone is soooooo polite and well Dr. Ortiz looks better in person and other male medical staff are very easy on the eyes. Dr. Miranda was really nice and was very nice to talk to! And I never did have a last meal last night.. I figured I have been having last meals my whole life... Guess it wasn't doing anything for me so who eat it. No reason too. Thanks everyone for the support
  11. I am not sure if I am scared, excited.. So many emotions and not too sure what to do. I think the part that is scaring me is I am going alone. I love my husband very much but he is not able to leave our buisness. Noone else can go with me and so it is just me.. I have gone thru prev posts and read about people going alone and everything was fine.. I just need to convince myself of it. I am not scared about the surgery but just the being alone. I know I am going to meet up with a few people it just isn't the same. Did anyone else feel this way? How did you cope? Did you write a letter and leave it at home just " incase " something happens?? I know I sound sill but can not help how I feel.
  12. I am getting my band on Feb 6th.. What day are you arriving? I will be getting in on the 5th.
  13. Thank you for all the support and advice. I currently am 264lbs and hoping to be in the 250's at surgery. I am sure I will be ok, just something I will be happy not to have to deal with ever again!! It's just like you walk into a restaurant and you wonder... Can I fit in the booth, will the chair hold me?? The day to day issues that we deal with and I am SOO happy that soon I will no longer have to deal with them.
  14. I get banded on Feb 5th. Everything that I have read is the feeling that you feel is the port. Some people feel the post and or discomfort at the port site for a couple months. Is that where you are feeling the discomfort? Hope you feel good soon.
  15. So.. I know this may be something silly to think about, but after hearing how some airlines do not like " bigger " people. When flying did anyone get commented on their size? Or were told they needed to purchase another ticket? Or the belt not fit and the staff were rude? I think that is what worries me the most.. I know weird!
  16. I am flying into San Diego on and then being takin to TJ for my surgery. After surgery I will be in San Diego for 4 days enjoying the sun before heading home. I want to take my camera to get lots of pics but also my laptop so I can check on my buisness while I am away. Is it safe to bring both? Will it be too much to cary with my purse and luggage?? Is it safe to bring so it is not stolen? Did you take yours? Did you have any problems??
  17. Well.. 2 people that I thought would be coming with me are not anymore. My husband will not get his passport in time plus he has to stay and run our buisness. Anyone else going to be there on Feb 6th?? Or live in San Diego.. I think I might stay there a couple days after to relax and enjoy the sun.. Up here in Canada right now it is FREEZING!!
  18. Just got my surgery date today.. I am going on Feb 5th and getting banded on the 6th.. 2 More weeks from today.. Wow.. Overwhelming but SOO excited. Sounds like I am going alone so if anyone will be there at the same time let me know. Julie
  19. Thank you.. That was a AWSOME post.. I have not had my surgery yet but it will already help with my Pre-Op. Thank you!!
  20. I am in Saskatchewan.. I am hoping to be having surgey on the 5th or 6th of Feb. So I might see you there. I want to spend the 3 night in TJ and then spend 3 or 4 nights in San Diego. To shop/visit/sight see and enjoy some warm weather. Where in Northern AB are you??
  21. Welcome!! I am new too. I am going to the OCC in Feb! I agree, it can not come too soon.. This forum has been great with stories and inspiration.
  22. Thank you.. I am going to call them tommarom(Monday)but I thought I would ask here because the best people to answer a questions are the ones that have gone thru it. I hope they say it would be ok.. Would be good to go thru this with my mom.. We can be each others supporters.
  23. Hi Everyone! I am a newbie here, I will be going down to TJ Mexico to get my lapband in Feb.. Sooo can not wait! I would like and my mom would like to get the lap band as well but she is scared becasue she has Poly myalgia Rheumatica. Wondering if anyone else has this and if so did the lap band help?
