  1. ((((((((((((((((((((((((Shiney)))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs, we all have the best of intentions and it's progress not perfection...heck if it was easy, we'd all be at our goal weight and diets, food programs, the weight loss industry, this procedure wouldn't exist. xo I believe in you! How are you coming along. It's wonderful you've lost a total of 3 lbs already. I haven't "started" my pre op officially yet. But I'm logging every bite, lick and taste and eating much smaller meals (including protein shake as meal replacements). I gained 10 lbs waiting for my new surgery date and the last time I jumped on a scale I cut that to 6 lbs so I'm feeling pretty confident especially since it's my TOM so much of the 6 lbs is probably water weight. Dr. Miranda gave me some good advise today. I contacted her about my pre op diet last night. She mentioned two things I've never heard before...and considering that I've had two doctors and head pages and pages of blogs and loads of literature. 1. Dr. Miranda said I could eat green, leafy vegetables pre op and I could use the wish bone spray salad dressing. I picked that up today. 2. Dr. Miranda told me to lose as much weight as possible, over and above the 6 lbs to take me back to my original pre op BECAUSE the more weight I lose, the less time I spend in surgery, which means the less time I spend under the Anesthesia - now there was a motivator. I wish I would have known that earlier. xo Can't wait to meet you.
  2. ((((((((((((((((Shiney))))))))))))))))) I just saw your post today. I'm so proud of you for quitting smoking. Good for you!
  3. (((((((((((((((((((((Carrie)))))))))))))))))))))) I think about your stop and live your life email every day. I am so happy for you and your success. I hope to join you in Onderland 6 months from now. xo
  4. (((((((((((((((((((((((Sabrina)))))))))))))))))))))) This is wonderful news. I'm going to have to slow way way way down when I eat. I take hours preparing my meals and then eat in only a matter of moments. When I first started on this venture, I purchased a watch that was a stop watch. Each time I took a bite I set the timer and refused to let myself eat another bite for 60 seconds. I found out that I chew and swallow within 10 seconds. That is fast. I am not using it right now but I'll bring it back once I have my surgery and I begin back on solid foods.
  5. (((((((((((((((((Canadian Bandster))))))))))))))))) You'll be in my thoughts on the 20th and maybe we'll cross paths. I fly in on the 21st but I'm staying at the Marriot I think.
  6. ((((((((((((((((Tracey)))))))))))))))))) Hugs. I can't wait to meet you. I'm sending in my check tomorrow.
  7. ((((((((((((((((((((Louise))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs to you. Thank you for your post. I'm glad your doing well now and you're looking forward. I believe in you.
  8. Amen. I will miss Champagne too.
  9. (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Shiney)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Thank you for posting your full list. I thought about wearing dresses too but I don't really have any. I may go out today and see what I can find.
  10. (((((((((((((((((((((((Tootsie Lou)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs and Happy Mother's Day! You have brought up a good point. For me every once in awhile someone post something or I read something or hear something that really clicks with me, and your post did that. It brought back a memory I have of being told that if someone gets control over their daily eating (follows a road map...like the pre op diet) it has them not just in control of their food in take but it also makes them feel as if they are in control of every component of their life. And who wouldn't want that? Thank you for that reminder!
  11. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Shiney)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs and Happy Mother's Day to you. Don't beat yourself up about yesterday, just move on. I am so sorry to hear that you scratched your foot and that you've been in the ER. I hope your foot is feeling better. xo
  12. ((((((((((((((((((((((((Lisa)))))))))))))))))))))))) That is a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing it. I needed the inspiration tonight.
  13. (((((((((((((((((((((((((Everyone)))))))))))))))))))))))))) Thank you for your posts. I've noticed I'm much more emotional and even though I'm typically an even keel person, I'm more snippy at home. I watched the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood on TV today and I cried for the last hour of the movie. I think part of the problem is the anxiety I have from the last attempt (not at the OCC) turning into a fiasco, plus my cooking show (ironic?) starts filming on Tuesday (in my kitchen) so that has me a little off balance too. We're going to try to shoot 3 episodes before I leave for Mexico so I can take a month off.
  14. (((((((((((((((((((Everyone))))))))))))))))))) Good info. Thank you very much. I started with a different doctor and then switched to the OCC, I want to make sure I'm following their guidelines rather than my old doctor so this helps!
  15. ((((((((((((((((Shiney))))))))))))))) That is a smart idea. I found a pastrami yesterday that was 30 calories a slice and there were 5 slices in the package. It was very satisfying.
  16. (((((((((((((((((Jazzy))))))))))))))) This might be a double post, because I thought I typed this message an hour ago. lol Thank you for reminding me about the metamucil. I did purchase it and I take it twice a day, but I take it when I take my meds and I should change that to 10 am and 3 pm. I should take the calcuim chew then too for a little flavor. Thanks again for the reminder!
  17. (((((((((((((((Hugs Everyone)))))))))))))) Just wanted to ask if I'm the only one who gets like this. My personality drastically changes if I'm following a food plan. I am far more sensitive about stuff and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this how long it lasts or how they change back to the person their family knows and loves on a daily basis.
  18. (((((((((((((((((((IrishRN)))))))))))))))))) It's wonderful to hear you are doing well!
  19. (((((((((((((((((Babe)))))))))))))))))))) Thank you thank you thank you! This is a wonderful post.
  20. ((((((((((((((((Karen))))))))))))))))) You look amazing! Thank you so much for posting these photos. I know I'm going to have to get a tummy tuck because the lose skin I have is bothering me already and I haven't been banded yet. May I ask where you went and how much it cost?
  21. (((((((((((((((((((Hugs Everyone)))))))))))))))))))) I have a question for those who have been banded, I know there are several things that change once you're banded. I'm trying to keep a list. This is what I have so far. Let me know if I've missed anything or if there items on this list that some doctors allow patients to have. 1. No Straws (started) 2. No Gum (started) 3. No Hard Candy (started) 4. No Carbonated Soda, Water, Liquor or other Beverages (started) 5. No Liquor, Wine for at least 1 year (started) 6. No Caffine (started) 7. No Beverages while eating (wait 1 hour prior to eating and 1 hour after) 8. No Popcorn (started) 9. No Nuts (started) 10. No Flour Based Pasta's or Rice (technically I started this today...lol) 11. No Bread unless it's Toasted (ditto) 12. For OCC Patients ... No protein drinks until post op diet allows. 13. Take a MultiVitiamin each day (started) 14. Take a calcium supplement each day (started) I know I've forgotten a dozen things...I need to pull my paper work again.
  22. ((((((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))) I made it though and my husband and kids ended up having deli sandwiches for dinner so I didn't have to cook either. (I love cooking though! ... lol) It's good to know about the veggie option in case I get in a head frump. I did get on the scale, just to know where I was at. I gained 12 lbs in the 2 months I waited for the surgery, BUT I'm glad I waited and I switched to the OCC. And all things considered, the 12 lb gain doesn't have me too bothered. I'm pretty confident I'll lose that pre op if I follow the pre op the way it's designed.
  23. (((((((((IrishRN)))))))))) Congratulations on getting banded. I'm amazed and happy that an hour after the surgery you're feeling wonderful and able to drink juice. Hugs to you and I can't wait to join you in bandland.
  24. ((((((((((((Nicole)))))))))))) Good luck with this, you are right to have it checked out straight away. xo
  25. (((((((((((((((((((((Hugs Everyone))))))))))))))))))))) How did the pre op dieting go or how is it going? I started "officially" today.
