  1. ((((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))))) I really needed to see this post today.
  2. I called Dr. Ortiz's office today to get some info. After Wednesday I just don't have a warm fuzzy feeling about having the surgery in San Francisco and I am seriously considering having my surgery at the OCC by Dr. Ortiz. I'd think about another US doctor but I'm no longer eligible because of the weight I lost pre op. lol We'll see how it goes. It will be 6 to 8 weeks before my allergy doctor can let me know which med caused the reaction.
  3. (((((((((((Lindsay))))))))))))) Hugs to you. How do you feel today? xo
  4. Thank you everyone. That makes me feel a little better. I went to the allergy doctor today. He said it would be six weeks before they could test me on the meds to see which one caused the reaction. He's also partnering with my doctor to have me tested for alternative meds as well. I'm happy they are going to plan ahead so to speak. I just keep telling myself everything happens for a reason. I'm also wondering what would be the best pre op. I did lose 20 lbs so I absolutely don't want to put that back on but I don't want to be so hard core and zealous that I'm miserable the next seven...eight weeks either.
  5. (((((((((((((((Dana)))))))))))))))))))) What wonderful wonderful wonderful news! You look amazing in the new photo. I love it. It is just lovely. I'm glad you have hit your sweet spot!
  6. Prior to yesterday's drama, I had a huge fear of the surgery...not lapband per se, any surgery. Ironically enough, I had a huge fear of being aware of what was happening in the operating room and my biggest fear was waking up with the tube in my throat. I understand that because of what happened yesterday I have to over come some fears that I didn't have before, the funny thing is my biggest fear came to a reality...that was waking up from the surgery too early and being aware of the tube in my throat. So the good news is that I have no memory of the time things were critical in the operating room...but because of the allergic reaction, they did wake me up with the tube still in my throat. Yikes. I then spoke to a relative who told me that when she had a surgery recently she didn't wasn't completely out. (My other biggest fear). She said she distinctly remembers the room being black, not being able to open her eyes, feel anything or move but hearing everything that was going on. Ouch. Thus putting me face to face with my other biggest fear. I don't want to pass on lapband because I'm scared of the surgery...so I'm hoping to hear what others remember or better yet, what others don't remember. I really hope my next experience will be walking into the operating room, lying down and walking up in recovery without a tube in my throat.
  7. Intriguing...sounds similar to something I read in the book "French Women Don't Get Fat." Thank you for posting this. Until a few years ago I cooked everything low fat...skim...and the like, but ironically enough, I found that I ate smaller portions of foods I didn't skinny down. I think something in my brain thought that since it was a skinny version I could afford to eat a bigger portion.
  8. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! 162 in the evening? That means you'll possibly be 159 tomorrow am!!!
  9. ((((((((((((Jenelle))))))))))))))) What a wonderful post! Sounds as if you're feeling as if you can achieve anything you set out to do. That is wonderful! I'm so glad you posted this. xo

  12. I feel very fortunate and I am feeling a little better. To top it all off my cycle started yesterday. lol At least when I have the surgery it will be over.
  13. Thank you for confirming what I thought! I have to admit, I didn't know there was fat free half and half. Isn't half and half a mixture of cream and milk? I'm feeling much better after yesterday's very close call. I posted a wonderful lapband friendly recipe to the cooking facebook group page today. It's called Paprika Chicken. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.p...4358&ref=ts Thank you so much for the encouragement.
  14. My hubby says 2% milk is Whole Milk and obviously I don't agree. I am transitioning recipes and I want healthy without cutting flavor. The food police are screaming..."Robbyn...step away from the heavy cream." I've found half and half is an adequate swap for things like quiche...and buttermilk is already low fat so that's a great swap for pancakes, waffles and mashed potatoes...but in some recipes I want to scale down more and I thought 2 percent was a good swap. My cousin Gina and I are going to have a local cable cooking show (on facebook see "What's for dinner? With Robbyn & Gina") and although I believe you can eat anything in moderation, there will be shows I plan to talk about my planned life change and I prepare "favorites" with a lighter touch. Also, if anyone has a lapband friendly recipe feel free to post it on the facebook page for the show. If we use it, we'll give you credit...I promise. xo
  15. (((((((((((((Dalaina)))))))))))))))) Welcome! I have not been banded "yet" either. I'm waiting for my surgery date. I started the pre op diet 2/13/09 (which was early but my doctor gave me the okay). I can't wait to hear more about your progress.
  16. (((((((((((((((((Jessica))))))))))))))))) Congratulations on your pregnancy. xo
  17. You can find me by searching for Robbyn Simons!
  18. Congrats to you and your husband for taking the plunge together! All doctors are different, but this is what my doctor said. I was told I could eat as "few" as 400 calories a day as long as I consumed 70 grams of protein today. I get the majority of my protein from a beverage called ISOPURE which is sold at GNC. Each one is 40 grams of protein, so 2 ISOPURE's a day is 320 calories, 80 grams of protein. I'm filling the other calories by drinking non fat milk, fruit juices and the like. His post op paper work will have me on 400 to 800 calories a day for 6 months. His nurse said something completely different. lol She said to consume between 800 and 1200 calories a day. I put that in to emphasize that every professional has different opinions. Good luck to you both!
  19. Some of you know that I didn't have my surgery yesterday. To make a long story short, I went into anaphylactic shock (because of an allergy to the general anesthesia) in the operating room prior to the surgery. A day later, I still look like Rocky Balboa. My dentist wanted me to have wisdom teeth extracted and I had been stalling. Thank god I did. I was very lucky to have been in an operating room surrounded by professionals rather than in a dentist chair when this happened. The surgery isn't off. I did think about it yesterday though. Then I realized that surgery or no surgery I'd have to work out what I was allergic to...in case I need an operation later. I have an appointment with an allergist tomorrow. Once the allergist results come back, I'll get a new surgery date. The doctor spoke as if it could be within "days". I'm back to ISOPURE. My doctor didn't specifiy I had to return to the liquid diet (I lost almost 20 lbs pre op despite the Dallas trip...that's a miracle) but I thought it would be a smart thing to do, not that I feel much like eating.
  20. I did't have the surgery today. I went into anaphylactic shock in the operating room. Aparantly I almost died. I'm still swollen, I look like Rocky Balboa. My doctor says it doesn't mean I can't have the surgery, I just need to go to a specialist first and find out what I may be allergic to. Until today, I had never been under general anaesthesia...there is no way anyone would have known this could have happened. I'm just glad to be safe. At first I thought it was a sign from god not to have the surgery but now that I've had some time to think, my head is clearer. I have a call into my regular doctor to ask advise and get the allergy testing under way. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
  21. I'm so proud of everyone! =D> I hope I selected the right smiley face.
  22. ((((((((((((((((Amanda)))))))))))))))))) That is wonderful!
  23. (((((((((((((((((((((Fabi))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs to you. I like what Jennifer wrote...you'll be "fabi"lous.
  24. ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Jennifer)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) ))) I want to hear how things are going after the fill too! Hugs.
