Horrible left shoulder pain
robbynnoel replied to Lindsay's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
(((((((((((((((Lindsay)))))))))))))))) I'm so sorry to hear that. Is the shoulder pain gas? I don't recall, did you just have a fill? I'm wondering if because of the fill you're tight like we were after surgery. xo -
Cassie's success is inspirational. Thank you for sharing the photos. Be sure to share with her how proud we all are.

((((((((((((((((((((Cindy))))))))))))))))) So many happy messages on the board this morning, it's very motivating. What you've accomplished is huge. I'm so proud of you and welcome to Onderland. I hope to be joining you soon. xo

(((((((((((((((((((LisaLaw))))))))))))))))))) I'm so happy for you! That is wonderful wonderful news. The loss of 10 inches from your waistline is huge alone but to have broken the plateau too...wow. xo
-
((((((((((((((Socal Kid))))))))))))))))) Sounds as if you had a wonderful father's day! It's wonderful you've had success with the band and you know you are healthier!

(((((((((((((((((((((Alia))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs. I'm so happy for you. Please keep up posted. xo

First solid foods since fill.
robbynnoel replied to finally's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
(((((((((((((((Finally))))))))))))))))) Congrats on your first fill. I feel better after seeing your post. I'm scared to get my first fill...so scared I'm thinking about postponing it further than I already have. Of course I've only been on solid food for a few days and since I haven't had any problems I'm fearful of getting stuck and scared to death about PB'ing. I'm so glad you're happy and this is working out well. I follow the same rules you are but I do carry trail mix in my purse in case my family makes a food stop or a meal is delayed. Tomorrow we're off to Disneyland. I plan to focus on deli meats, string cheese, trail mix and crackers. I've been lucky with them so far. -
One Week Post-Op- following post-op diet
robbynnoel replied to HollyCali's topic in Diet and Nutrition
((((((((((((((((Holly)))))))))))))))) Hugs to you. I can relate. I can relate even to the point where I asked myself "What the xxxx did I do to myself!" I have to admit that I did convert to solid foods two days early. It was because of naucea. I just couldn't shake it. Well I still can't but I think it's because I have the flu. Hang in there. It will get better. -
((((((((((((((((((((((((Stormy))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs to you. My heart goes out to you and your mom. I wish I had words that would take everyone's pain away. xo

(((((((((((((((((((((((Lea)))))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs! Congrats on being a bandito. I was banded a few weeks ago. I had gas about a week, but not nearly to the degree I had it in the hospital. As far as nausea...I still have a little BUT I also have the flu right now and last week so I think the nausea is due to the flu, not the band. Now that I'm on solid food today I ate a cheese stick and crackers for breakfast to combat the nausea. Please let us all know how your exciting journey is progressing!

(((((((((((((((LesLes))))))))))))))))) I'm so sorry we didn't catch up at the Marriott. I was banded on Friday, May 22nd so I am a new bandster but my weight loss journey began on March 12, 2007 when I came inches from weighing 300 lbs. My diet life has been a boomerang for over 16 years. I'll lose a bit of weight, gain it back 10 fold, lose a bit of weight, gain it back 10 fold etc. My biggest regret is that I considered weight loss surgery in early 2000 and I didn't follow through. xo

(((((((((((((((((((((((((Hugs Everyone))))))))))))))))))))))))) I'm so glad you are all doing well. Despite some dizziness when I stand in one place for extended periods of time (something that has always bothered me...but it's a little more frequent now) I'm feeling pretty good. Not good enough to run a few miles or work out but once I transition to solid food, I'm sure I'll feel physically able to do more physical activity. I did weigh myself (even thought I told myself not to) and I'm down to 15 lbs heavier than I was at this time last year. I can live with that considering I came close to gaining 50 lbs in just a few short months - which is what brought me to the decision to have lapband in the first place. I'm going to put the scale away again until I'm fairly confident I've lost at least those 15 pounds so I don't sabotoge myself before my first fill which I've scheduled (thanks to Dana) in August after we move to Dallas. A few weeks (10 and a half weeks after my surgery) late but I know that as long as I keep my head in check, I'll be fine. xo

Food to Eat after 21 days of liquids and mushies??
robbynnoel replied to Kristi's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
((((((((((((((((Shelby))))))))))))))))) Too funny. I purchased my "first meal", it's sitting in my pantry. It's a can of Hormel Tamale's (I had the same idea you had). I thing there is 6 in the can. I've told myself that I can only have 2. One more week. Sigh. -
(((((((((((((((((Smiley))))))))))))))))))) There is a brand called vitafusion you can get at Costco. http://www.amazon.com/VitaFusion-Multi-Vit...s/dp/B001FA32RM

I AM A POPCICLE SUCKING BANDSTER!!!!
robbynnoel replied to ksk's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
((((((((((((((((((((KSK)))))))))))))))))))))) Hugs fellow bandito. I was just banded myself just over a week ago. This is what I recommend your first 24 hours. 1. Walk the halls and meet your fellow bandsters, exchange email addresses for support. 2. If you didn't snap a picture of Dr. Ortiz today, get one tomorrow. 3. Take princess sips...princess sips...princess sips...it is a proactive way to avoid gas. 4. Try to limit your initial liquid intake to about 1/2 cup size at first (to avoid gas or drinking too fast). 5. Tomorrow they will take your photo for an ID card you can use for kids meals. The card will be delivered to your hotel tomorrow evening. I thought the card would be brought to my room, but it wasn't, so if you don't have it the night before you check out, ask the front desk for it. If it's lost they have to take a new photo which means you'll have to wait for your fill. I know about this one personally. 6. If you're up to it, go to Revolution Avenue tomorrow. 7. If you use a cab from Revolution Avenue to return to your hotel, two things. a: Make sure your hotel gives you a paper map so you can show it to the driver to get back. We stayed at the Marriott and if we wouldn't have had the map we would still be on Revolution Avenue. Our driver didn't speak english, not even "Marriott". 8. Our taxi cab driver who took us from the Marriott to Revolution Avenue told us "Yellow Cabs are safe." so I would only take a yellow cab to return to your hotel. (Of course my husband and I didn't do that...see number 7. 9. Have plenty of cash on you for your stroll down Revolution Avenue. You'll need it. 10. Walk. Rest. Walk. Repeat. xo -
What is your weekly weight loss?
robbynnoel replied to MyNewLife's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
(((((((((((((((((((Carrie)))))))))))))))))) Hugs Carrie. I can't talk from band experience but I did used to weigh and measure people for a living so my answer is based on that. What you are experiencing is absoutely normal. I recommend taking your measurements once a month. You are building lean muscle mass. Trust me. xo -

(((((((((((((((((((((Ackovach)))))))))))))))))))))) I've never taken Lexapro but my daughter was prescribed it when she was 17. She was prescribed many different things in a short period of time (for what reasons will result in a story that is far far far too long) but if I remember correctly, Lexapro was the first one. After a day or two, my daughter decided she didn't need meds (long story) so she stopped taking them. Because she then still suffered from anxiety (longer story) we took her to the hospital and they gave a different med because they said she had a welt of some kind on her stomach and that is known to be a very very very rare side affect. I wish I had more info but I do know what happened to her was highly unusual.

((((((((((((((Tummy)))))))))))))))) Hugs to you. I just had Lap Band surgery myself, but I am still a member of both Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig. Weight Watchers is great for their meetings and motivation...Jenny Craig is great because even with Lapband, there are times you may be directed to eat a Lean Cuisine which is what Jenny Craig sells. If you're a member you can actually purchase their items pretty cheap plus meet with someone one on one for extra support, measurments and cheerleading. xo Good luck to you.
