  1. ((((((((((((((((((((((((Sarah)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) Happy Birthday and Welcome to Onderland!
  2. Wow...my surgery is tomorrow. I'm walking around in a daze today...numb almost. I returned from Dallas yesterday. That was a challenge. Party party party party...one after another. It wasn't a wedding it was a festival. lol I was pleased today to find out that my weight remained exactly the same as it was the day I left. Phew! I normally gain weight or retain water just from riding on a plane... I went to my doctor a the day before I left and confirmed I had lost a sufficient amount of weight (on his scale). Now I'm glad I started the pre op early. My doctor has me on a clear liquid diet today. So far I've had. 1. Sugar Free Popsicle 2. Good Earth Decaf Tea (1 bag, 3 cups) 3. Herb Ox Bullion Cubes (2) 4. Light Ocean Spray juice 6 oz 5. 3 tbsp Milk of Magnesia. (Blek blek blek blek) I was supposed to take the Mike of Magnesia at noon but I forgot. I took it a few minutes ago. I removed my nail polish from the wedding today. I purchased an adorable pagama outfit from Dress Barn that looks like something that can be worn in public. Black sleep pants with an elastic waist with a black sleeveless top with green and pink embroided flamingos (small). We're spending the night in my brother-in-law's home tonight. He's only a few minutes from the hospital. I was told no moisturizer, make-up...blah blah blah, no swallowing while brushing my teeth tomorrow am and to only take my blood pressure meds with a sip of water. Nothing else after midnight tonight. I am going to leave my purse and blackberry at home tonight but I'm thinking of bringing a book and a puzzle book. I took off my jewlery today so I don't forget to. I have to report to the hospital at 6 am. I'm breathing. In and out.
  3. Yep...horrible horrible horrible angle. The photo was taken by someone who doesn't know me very well. I'll have a great "before" surgery picture this weekend when I go to the wedding! I am struggling with the pre op diet. I've lost 9 lbs on the doctor's scale (that includes me wearing jeans, two shirts, a sweat shirt and tennis shoes...but despite the loss I know this is going to be a very challenging few days and I'm barely holding back the temptation just being at home. Yikes.
  4. I wanted to share my recipe for Greek Lemon Soup I "think" it is appropriate for both the clear and the creamy soup phase of the liquid diet. I'll need someone to confirm. This is good with simple chicken broth or cream of chicken soup. 2 c. chicken broth (clear liquids) or cream of chicken soup (liquids) 1.5 tbsp. lemon juice Makes 2 servings. I used to make this all of the time in the early 90's. I've only seen it on a restaurant menu once, but I loved it so much I worked out something near dead on at home. It's a recipe I forgot about to be honest, but today it came to mind. I prefer the creamy but if you like the taste of lemon the chicken broth works well too. I'll make it tomorrow.
  5. Good idea Dana. Hugs Everyone So far I've eaten 1. Protein Shake mixed with 1 scoup of chocolate whey protein, 4 oz Decaf Coffee and 4 oz nonfat milk and ice galore (20 grams protein) 2. Fat free Yoplait Light yogurt Dinner will be: 1. ISOPURE (Liquid Protein...40 grams) If I go stir crazy I'll pull out the chicken broth.
  6. Okay here's the photo! http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...mageID=55958873
  7. A friend sent this to me today. It was taken last Saturday at my husband's 40th Birthday Party. The camera angle couldn't be worse but I thought the sign over my head was cute. Now to figure how to post the photo. lol
  8. I love that. I need to print that saying and put it on my office cubie wall. xo
  9. I'm glad this was posted...I was had that question too.
  10. That is very possible Mona. I think I've read so many boards I'm mentally acting as if I have the band. It's the Placebo affect. lol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placebo Maybe part of it is that my surgery was supposed to have been 2/23 but it was moved when my doctor found out I planned to fly (on a vacation). All doctors are different, and mine didn't want me on a plane after surgery so he rescheduled the surgery after I return home. That's what brought me to the boards in the first place. I honestly worried that if you had lapband you couldn't fly ever again. I"m glad I checked the facts. lol
  11. (((((((((((Dana))))))))))) Great idea. That will help me stick to my pre op. I'm flying to Dallas in a couple days, attending a wedding and then having the surgery the moment I get home. This will help motivate me to stay on track. And my friend has already purchased isopure for me so I don't have to worry about finding it when I land.
  12. (((((((((((((((((Carry))))))))))))))) Hugs to you. I haven't been banded yet, but I can relate. You mentioned the scale hasn't moved for 3 weeks...a little question for you that you don't have to answer on the board. Just think about when your cycle is, and how much weight you normally water gain you have before and how much water gain you lose after. I had to remind myself about that this am because the pre op scale stopped...in fact it went up about a pound. Then I remembered that according to my calendar my cycle is coming next Saturday (which means I'll have it during my surgery). I then understood what was going on. Because of that, I'm going to put the scale away until after my cycle is over. xo
  13. I didn't catch this original post but I'm so glad I found it today. You did a great interview and you've inspired me.
  14. (((((((((((((Barb)))))))))))))))) Hugs. I'm glad your doctor has been responsive and you were able to see him today. Thank you so much for posting the update!
  15. Hugs SheRee and Carrie and everyone else. I am looking for an article that is titled "100 Reasons to Ignore the Scale" but since I can't find it at the moment. In the meantime I found these. http://health.msn.com/weight-loss/slidesho...entid=100213228 http://exercise.about.com/od/weightloss/ss...osingweight.htm http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/for...es-can-lie.html
  16. Call me crazy...but after reading the boards, I've noticing I'm having symptoms prior to the surgery that many posters say they are experiencing after the surgery. I haven't had a diet soda in about a month, but I threw a party for my husband yesterday and after all of the guests went home, I decided to indulge and have one. I took a sip or two and the bubbles set my stomach on fire, plus the liquid was so thick I could barely swallow it. As you can imagine, since I haven't had my surgery yet, I was shocked. But it doesn't stop there. Yesterday, I really did well all things considered. At the party, I was pretty restrained, but I did have some brie (well a lot of brie). I read a post yesterday or the day before about mucus getting stuck mid throat and not being able to swallow it down. Sure enough, about 3 am yesterday I had a sensation in my throat that I couldn't swallow down and I thought, "OMG, I'm lactos intollerant." lol Then 3 or 4 days ago, I woke up about 5 am (not after a cheat day) and had a sensation where liquid (my isopure which tastes like fruit juice) came to the top of my throat. I'm also noticing (again...obviously prior to the surgery) that if I drink too fast it comes to the top of my throat. So just throwing it out there, is it possible, maybe that the symptoms we associate with the band are really just symptoms of a healthy diet change? Just a thought. xo
  17. ((((((((((((((((((((((((Kristy))))))))))))))))))))))))) I'm so excited for you! Good for you. xo
  18. Thank you so much for posting this. My friend found a website recently that will take a photo and then in 24 hours show "you" in the photo up to 100 lbs lighter. I've asked her to give me that website. When she gets back to me, I'll post the link here.
  19. (((((((((((((((((((((Hugs to you)))))))))))))))))))) Jnlebean, A big congrats to you to log our food and post your message. Because you took that step, next time, you'll have a different result. It's progress...not perfection. I am very proud of you and so excited that you are going for your first fill! xo.
  20. ((((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))) I see a big change (and I bet your clothes don't fit anymore as well). You are doing fab fab fab.
  21. Yikes I found several hundred typos. My calorie range is between 400 and 800 calories per day PROVIDED I consume 80 grams of protein. xo Sorry about that.
  22. I really needed to see these posts tonight. Today was my first challenging day since transitioning to the pre op diet and I didn't follow it to the letter. It was a very stressful day. I was grieving the loss of my mom and it was just a stressful day. By 10 am I wanted my husband to pull the car over so we could eat breakfast in a restaurant. It was really struggle for me. Today was the first time I had to acknowledge that I didn't know the difference between emotional hunger and physical hunger. I took a protein shake and bottled water with me so I knew it wasn't true hunger. About 5 pm I gave in 560 calories worth. I felt better after I ate but it really scared me. I have to do this through 4/1/09 and beyond. I came home and really began to have a second thoughts. I needed to see so many positive posts! Thank you thank you.
