  1. congratulations!! I have also fought with a plateau and should get back in for a fill, but just had some major non elective surgery done and will wait until after xmas to tweak my fill. cheers and here is to the next 50 lbs!
  2. Well, we all had lunch together last October - Lisal, Linda, myself, you and many others in Portland. You and I were also banded 1 week apart and for the most part, I have always supported you, even through all that nasty Jann crap that took place. I am not, nor will ever be an enabler. period.
  3. I would love to have some experienced people respond to this! I have had this happen VERY soon after my banding (1 year ago) because I was aggressive with my fills and wanted to be proactive with my weight loss. What was the point of a blow by blow? Have you not been stuck before? why would you eat something that would put you in this position? Stormy - I know you have had issues in the past with not having enough of a fill and have struggled with getting on the right track. You really need to get a fill with fluoro, not only for your peace of mind, but to get a tweak and back on the bandwagon. Posting this kind of stuff makes the experienced people shake their heads and makes the newbies freak out.
  4. Stormy first of all, I found tickets from seattle to san diego for $120.00 roundtrip on Southwest airlines. Keep checking because they have weekly specials. If you stay at the Lucerna to have a fill, you get a special price, I think it was $250.00 for two nights including the fill. It has been so long, you should just call them to get the right quote. I would do it. I know you have been frustrated with things and it would not hurt to have a check up and get a tweak! oodles
  5. I never had gas or any pain. I left the clinic four hours after surgery and stayed at the Lucerna. That night we went to the Mexican 4th of July Fiesta. All the walking probably worked it all the 'stuff' out I do not regret having a nice and fun meal the night before. I can no longer eat flour tortillas, prawns or drink beer (and I do not miss it either!). So that splurge was well worth it
  6. ABSOLUTELY! my aunt (who is a nurse) and I walked down to the bright yellow cantina/restaurant two blocks away I had the BEST Mexican food I have ever had and three Dos Equis as a memorial (have not had a beer since!) handmade tortillas, camarones (prawns the size of my hand), tons of guacamole...we ate as much as we could and were done by 9 pm
  7. Shelby Girl!!! You are gorgeous and look amazing! I had to do a DOUBLE take...you do NOT look like the same person from a year ago! LOL
  8. Love the discussion Dave, well done! I had my band put in September 15th 2008 I am 50 lbs down Lost 7 inches off my hips Lost 6 inches off my chest Lost 7 inches off my waist Gone down 3 sizes (to date) Blood pressure is normalized No longer obsess about food Am in control I can run 5 miles and feel invigorated (not exhausted) And I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, because if this band were not in place, I would have an additional 50 lbs ON right now, instead of OFF
  9. great job! These milestones is why I am thankful everyday. It is really dang fun to now call yourself a runner isn't it? I am now up to 5 miles myself and I can honestly say that just losing the weight is not enough, we MUST firm and tighten it up as well! I now have 39 inch hips and look damn good in jeans, it is a great feeling to have. Even I still have 40 lbs to go, but I will get there, nothing is not gained without a bit of hard work. Congrats and keep it up!
  10. wow and wow You have had a really miserable road these past several months. I am happy for you that you are alright, although the slip is very bizarre. Your story is a reminder for us to be aware of how tight is too tight! Best of Luck to you!
  11. I have TMobile and I had ZIPPO for service. Plan on getting yourself an international calling card pronto
  12. Priscilla Presley now drag queen (nice pics Lisal *shudder) and blood sucking goats...LOL I cannot remember laughing so hard! I have never heard that rumor before. My aunt who IS a nurse went with me to surgery and stated that the OCC was the cleanest facility she has seen or been in. She has been an RN in Washington State for 21 years. Tell that to your friend.
  13. gosh Nicole, that sucks bigtime can you get back to the OCC? or are you working with a canadian doctor?
  14. you know, it is hard enough losing 50 lbs! Amazing job and you look so much healthier!. You are proof that we are all different and will lose at our own pace. Thanks for sharing the pictures, you look GREAT!
  15. I have been watching and waiting for the full-on "critic" force to come out *the monthly thing (nothing and will go away quickly) *try camping OR vacationing - when you cannot eat normally (or do not with P-shakes)...then you are sliming your plain ice tea (very nice in front of friends) *parties - when you are excited and happy to be there and are spending half your time running to a dark corner or bathroom to slime or regurgitate you drink or food up. Be safe, know what to look for and follow the guidelines. My 3rd fill took me 3 weeks to work through, but I do not regret it a bit. Everyone is different. My first fill was nothing, second nothing. thoughts are with you
  16. SHELBY!! LOOK AT YOUR WAISTLINE GIRL! why stop now? you are looking hotter and hotter!
  17. SU - Weet! Look Ma...NO Plateau! Congrats to you hottie!
  18. Mona Mylanta is your quick little ho-down friend. I keep it around for those moments which are not that often, but when they happen it feels like a life saver!
  19. So sorry to hear about the nightmare...but don't you just love Dr. O and his reputation?
  20. OH yes...the Cantina is phenomenal..it was my "last supper and beer" so to speak hands down some of the best mexican food I have ever had!
  21. Personally, I STAYED at the Lucerna because it was included in the cost I payed to the OCC. I do not have one complaint. The service was wonderful, the beds were comfortable and nearly all of the people having surgery that day were there as well. Two of whom are never on the boards anymore, but I still email back and forth. Never a wait for the internet and one of the servers in the restaurant has been banded by Dr. O as well, so he was like a hovering mother hen to us all. good luck!
  22. don't you use sparkpeople anymore?
  23. I would recommend getting a fluoro done. This is one of the reasons I HATE blind fills and unfills, if done improperly, they can set you back MONTHS! been there done that and I truly believe it is why I am still at this plateau you have done great with the weight you have lost. everyone loses differently xoxo
  24. rarely if ever drink vodka anymore or any hard alcohol, except for the occassional Rita while having some Carne Asada at a mexican restaurant. Red wine makes me to acidy I have been drinking white wines...specifically Duck Pond Pinot Grigio from Oregon (runs about $9.50 at Fred Meyer). White wine has on average 100 calories for a 6 oz glass and it does not make me burpy I cannot drink beer at all...it just foams into the back of my throat
