  1. If you felt like you were talking with a salesman then you were. I would never let anyone operate on me who treated me the way that doctor treated you. He is a little too non-challant about something that is life-changing and expensive. If I was you I would talk to another doc asap. Just my opinion. Good luck in your journey.
  2. Thanks everyone for the replies. I made an appointment for February 3rd at the OCC. I am hoping that I only have to go down there once or twice. We will see. Thanks again.
  3. I can't believe one week ago I was banded. What a week this has been. I have learned quite a bit about myself and now realize that I really can do this. I am so happy I made this decision and for all of you who are getting ready to get banded, you are going to be so glad you did it. I am sore in the port area but other than that I feel great. I can't believe how much weight I am down. I am down 12 lbs. in less than two weeks. CRAZY! Merry Christmas to everyone and thanks again for listening.
  4. That is so awesome! You deserve it. Can't wait to hear about what you decide to do and where you decide to go.
  5. Merry Christmas and thank you for posting this tonight. I really needed to read that. I read it over and over and even read it to my husband and 16 year old daughter. You are such an inspiration.
  6. Congrats on the weight loss. That is awesome. I am finding it tough these past couple of days too. Hang in there. The holidays will be over before we know it. I can't wait for my glue to fall off too.
  7. I am still trying to decide whether to get my first fill at the OCC or do it here locally. My goal is to have as few fills as possible. How many fills did you have and where did you get them?
  8. I never asked about the soy creamer but I figured it is non-dairy isn't it? I know we can have coffee with non-dairy creamer and the soy creamer that I use (Silk) says that it is non-dairy and lactose free. That soup sounds great. I am excited for yogurt too. lol
  9. Oh man that is a bummer. I will knock it off until day 22. You ladies are right, I didn't even think about what I might be doing internally. Shoot. Unfortunately, I can not get up and go to the mall to walk. I have a four year old son with autism and it is so hard to take him anywhere with me. lol He is a crazy little man so I do my exercise at home. I am just going to focus on being more active during the day. Thanks again.
  10. ok darlin' you need to share that taco soup recipe. :)

  11. I plan on smothering my incisions as soon as that glue stuff wears off. Thanks for all of the advice ladies.
  12. I have not found liquid vitamin yet. I am thinking of getting the Prothera bariatric vitamin. It has tons of great stuff in it. I buy all of my son's autism supplements from this company. They are great and they are local for me. I haven't really been tracking my fiber but as I am still pretty "regular" I must be taking some fiber in. As far as good goes I wake up and have a 1/2 cup of coffee with soy creamer and splenda, then I will have my Special K protein water (about 32 ounces), then I have cranberry/blueberry juice diluted with water. I did have a soy coffee from Starbucks the other day. Yesterday I made a packet of Medifast cream of broccolli soup but I strained it first so all that was left was the liquid. I am not doing so well with the broth. It is kind of starting to gross me out. I also have Gatorade.
  13. I have a lot of head hunger too and am thinking of maybe getting some counseling for it. Is that an option for you? Are there any bariatric support groups in your area that you can join? There are some here and I am going to call and see if I can join even though I didn't have the surgery performed locally. Good luck to you and you got some great advice from the others. Do not beat yourself up. We are all here to help and support you.
  14. First take a deep breath. Your surgery will be fine. All scales are off due to one thing or another. My scale was about 2 lbs. heavier than the OCC scale. Plus you have to remember that you may retain a little water from flying. I did. If your pants are looser then I am sure you have lost some weight. I do not think that they would ever move your surgery back due to weight loss issues. I was supposed to lose 10 lbs. pre-op but lost only 6 lbs. It wasn't even a factor really. Just keep doing what you are doing now and you will be fine. No worries.
  15. Thank you everyone for the words of advice and encouragement. I made it through the night but I did have a glass of wine because I felt like I wasn't so deprived. Anyhow, it definitely paid off. I woke up this morning 2 lbs. less on the scale. Genie - that is a good idea to just go to the bedroom. Have you scheduled your first fill yet? I am making Christmas dinner for everyone and I changed the menu from traditional Thanksgiving dinner (which I love) to rack of lamb (which grosses me out). lol It will definitely makes things easier. My mother-in-law was so sweet and even suggested that we just eat leftovers or nothing at all to make it easier for me. I am not going to make everyone else suffer on Christmas for my sake. Bogiesmom - having a glass of wine definitely makes me feel like I am getting some sort of treat. This coming weekend we are going to my families house for a huge feast on the 26th. No biggie there either as my sister is making prime rib which I do not like and my mom said she is going to do the liquid diet with me while we are there to support me.
  16. Congrats on the banding. That is awesome! Isn't the surgery so much easier than you ever thought it would be? My stomach growls a lot too but I do not feel much hunger. The only time I feel a little hungry is in the afternoon from around 1-4 pm. I have been trying to drink some stuff with more consistency at that time to fill me a little more.
  17. Here I am 4-5 days post-op and I spent the afternoon making fudge, rice krispy treats, chocolate peanut cluster and now I am making chix parmesian for my family for dinner tomnight. I am not hungry but the head hunger is KILLING me. I would love some words of encouragement right now. There is no way I will touch any of the stuff but cooking it and watching everyone else enjoy is making me CRAZY!!!
  18. Thanks ladies. Well yesterday I got on the elliptical for 30 minutes on the lowest settings possible. I didn't even break a sweat. lol Today I did a Leslie Sansone 2 mile walking workout and that was a lot harder. I am feeling really good.
  19. Read my update on the "Tomorrow is the big day" thread. I am so excited for you. The surgery is pretty much a breeze. Sore but definitely bearable. Keep in touch with me.

  20. Hey Genie! Good to hear from you. I am glad you figured it out. I was looking for you through the member list but I was looking under the "J"s. lol I lost the weight that I had gained. All I could figure is that from flying and the surgery I must have retained some water. It is gone now. I am pretty sore in the port area too. I never did get the gas pains but I am peeing a lot. Do you sometimes feel your port area moving a little? Sometimes it feels like when you are about 6-7 months pregnant and you get a little kick right by the ribs. lol I hope this is normal. Please keep in touch.
  21. All of these questions are popping into my head now that I am home. Of course I forgot to ask while I was down there. How long before we can put aloe vera gel, vitamin E oil, scarguard etc. on our incisions? I am assuming we can't put anything on them until after the glue has disolved. Any input would be great.
  22. Thanks Amy. Ask away any questions you want. I want to pay it forward. So many people helped me on this forum before I had it done.
  23. Hey girl how are you feeling?

  24. Tomorrow I will be three days post op and I want to start back on my elliptical machine. I can not walk outside here because we have a lot of snow and many of the sidewalks still have ice. I was wondering if I put the elliptical on the lowest ramp setting and a very low resistance if that should be ok? If I can't do that then I have quite a few leslie Sansone workouts that I can try. Did any of you do other exercise besides walking right off the bat? Thank you.
