I know what you mean.. my husband has been gradually losing weight over the past few months... his most common dinner choice is 3 burgers from Burger King... HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?? Totally unfair!! -

Sounds like a great experience Mandy! My mom got hers done a little over a week ago and has been on the liquid diet since then. She has sometimes been pretty hungry but overall, I think it has been OK. So, you should do great. Have a nice trip home! -

I don't really want to wait a year, so hopefully I can get away with waiting 6-8 months. I plan on asking the doctors when I go there what they recommend, I have heard testimonies from many people how got pregnant before a year (on the other forum) so I am hoping I can do it sooner.

I guess for me, I am never going to be someone who wants to eat meat everyday or with every meal, so I focus on other ways of getting it. Banded or not, I am not a hardcore meat or dairy eater, so I will just have to do the best I can.

A scale that never shows your weight

That is a pretty nice idea. I would have loved that before. Now that I am getting banded.. I kind of want to see my weight when I get smaller!! Up until now I have avoided the scale like the plague so that would have been perfect for me! -
Another source of protein a lot of people don't think about is veggies. Being a former vegan, I still think about the amount of protein I am getting in all the foods I eat, not just meat. I did a quick google search and found this website with a decent chart of some higher protein non-meat foods, it also has a chart of how much is recommended per day based on your age and sex. http://www.vegsoc.org/info/protein.html Don't know if anyone else out there avoids meat like me, but even if you don't, this might give you guys some insight on extra protein you are getting that you may not even know about.

You look awesome in your pictures! I think that a lot of us may have some food issues to get through, and that is all part of the journey. It looks to me like you have already lost so much and you should be PROUD of that, because you look amazing! Good luck on the rest, but remember that you do look good NOW, too!

Daily Calorie Intake

Hey, if you have had your band unfilled since July, I say a gain of only 7 pounds is pretty good! I have heard some people gaining upwards of 20-30 pounds when they have their bands unfilled. So, KUDOS for only gaining 7, those will be easy to take off when you get refilled! I don't have an answer about calories... but am anxious to see what the others say -
And on another note... when you are on the liquid diet after surgery, I imagine you can drink during meals since it all fluids, right? Seems like the drinking thing would only matter during the solids stage.

Yes, thank you for posting! This first day of solids is something I am scared about, too. I haven't yet started the pre-op diet but I just know when I need to eat solids I am going to take it veerrrryyy slowly. The PBs and slime and all that stuff just scares the heck out of me. -

Hey! Yeah, I actually wasn't into it at all and my mom was planning it for a long time. Then all of a sudden I decided it was something I DID want!! So, it was like a complete change of mind for me, but now that I decided to research it, I KNOW it is the solution for me! I am so excited!

I was wondering if the person in Salem was good or not. My mom and I live in Salem and will need to find someplace to get fills... haven't decided if I am willing to go to Eugene or not yet! -
Sounds like the fills so smoothly. I don't think I will be able to afford to get my fills at OCC, so I have to settle for someone closer to my area. I hope mine go as smoothly as yours!

What is your new years resolution?

I don't really have any resolutions yet. I just want to start my new life with my band and see where I can go. Maybe when I talk to the doctor and get my surgery, I will have a mini-goal for weight loss but at this time, I would be happy to lose 20 pounds!!
