  1. Have you checked to see if there is a way to expidite it...even if you have to pay a few extra dollars...I had to do this oncce.....double the normal fee and it was Fedx to me in 48 hours........hell had to do the same for my passport once. Had booked a trip only to find out the damm thing had expired......now that was really pricy....$140 I think...any chance expidate is possible???

  2. Oh Feather, how frustrating for you...I would want to do exactly the same thing.........pizza pepproni, double cheese and meat........sorry thin crust(whole wheat).like somehow thin crust and whole wheat are going to reduce the damage of all the fat.....I do know what you mean, really I do!! What is the deal with the birth cert.??? Three mpnths seems really like a very long time...

  3. hey Feather.............how goes things over your way???? Katie:)

  4. Hi...........pre surgery diet? I had my plication on Jan 27, 2011.........ask any question you have and I'll let you how it was for me. For me, having this surgery was the best thing I ever did for myself. cheers, Katie:)
  5. Not sure where you had your surgery....my plication was done at OCC on Jan 27th......and under their instructions the first 3 weeks do not have any real chewable food....at 22 days out I started with soft food.....but no rice....at this point I haven't had rice yet and find I don't want it. If I did decided to have it I'd have maybe a tablespoon(measured) and eat it only after I've eaten my proteins and veggies. Is it possible you started the soft food stage too soon? I didn't have rice as a soft food, mashed potatoes but nothing else in the staright carb type foods. Maybe contact the nutritionist at where your surgery was done and discuss your concerns. I do know for sure, any carbonated drink will stretch your tummy..outside of that....it's the volume you need to watch. I did have the reaction you mentioned, it was with canned salmon...didn't drain the oils enough......do now.....so could be the fat content.
  6. Mostly I'd like to insure I am getting enough protein each day. I had my blood work done less than a month ago and everything was really good. I would take from that I am getting my supplements. Even tho I have read their entire web page, maybe I don't fully understand when drinking Green+ is recommended. K:)
  7. Okay what is IMHO??? And I'm in Canada in the Lower Mainland of BC.........Picked it up when I was in Washington a few weeks ago.but had it returned for me already...but with the recipe, I'll buy some more and give it a try again. So Costco or Walmart then>????[..............oh can the protein shakes say from trueprotein.com be doctored the same as say the recipe for the Green+??? K:)
  8. Hey Lindsay..............the Green+, so far I've found it in just a powder........do you know if it comes in a liquid as im pre mixed??? and where is the most likely place I would look for it, rather than buying it online...........would say a GNC carry it and does the brand matter???? Thanks K:)
  9. Hi Morgan, had my plication done Jan 27th. Intially I had loads of energy, I think that was because my system was getting cleaned out of the junk I use to put in it. Then I hit a wall, and energy disappeared then everything seems to be a huge effort. I had my doc here to a B12 check of my blood and it was really low. So I went to the Vitamin Store and bought B12 tabs that you put under your tongue to disolve. I bought the 5000mcg(5mgs) and I take 2 twice a day. And within a short time, energy back.............so maybe have your blood work done. B12 could be the source.
  10. ******Question........I tried the Green+ and nearly didn't make it to the loo in time........came right back up...great gag reflex.............anyone got a suggestion for another brand that is more palitable??? I've had the same problem with protein shakes, so far I've successfully kept down is Slim Fast(have tried 6 other brands), and hope eventually to find one which has more protein than 13gms. Any suggestions on that front would be helpful too.
  11. YIPPEEE...YAHOOOOO...........how aewsome for you, welcome to the losers bench....when you feel up to it, let us know how you are doing. K:)
  12. Hi, Sorry to hear you're in so much discomfort. Have you contacted your surgeon's office yet???? I had some heartburn especially if I drank something and then laid down within 1/2 hour or so..............besides the meds I was given from the surgeon, I also kept Gas-X strips(extra strength)will me all the time, they helped and so does Papaya Enzyme....they are chewables and taster to boot. If you are an OCC pt. contact Dr So. Were you given an after surgery package of contact info? Oh the Enzyme stuff I got at Walmart or any Vitamin Store. Hang in it will get better, your body is still ajusting to the changes of surgery. Cheers, Katie
  13. Congrats, welcome to the losers bench.................yes OCC is an awesome place, so patient focused. Cheers Kt:)[quote name='sandi55' timestamp='1302964184'
  14. How frustrating for you..............have you discussed the whole situation with Dr. Miranda, the nurtritionist. I ask because you didn't mention this................they are there to discuss things like this. I have found her very supportive anytime I had to reach out for information or help. Gastric Bypass is a huge thing.........so before you make any firm decision, do think about talk to OCC, this kinda follow up is part of what we paid for. Please reach out to them, it might help clear some of your confusion and help you decide what you want to do, sort of help you clarify the thinking. Hang in there...........if you want to vent your frustration or just talk.... via email....reach out ......ktbaillargeon@gmail.com I had my plication surgery not too long ago, Jan 27th.
  15. btw we are so long overdue for a long gab session on Skype...tell me when...ok????

  16. Oh Kiddo, I'm so sorry, no way do I want you to feel worse than you already do. Crap, I know exactly how you feel, been there myself for years.........was so surprised I didn't recognize you...........I am soo very sorry. You're turn is coming.....hey are you on this forum under another name babe????(a year) if not I found your emotional twin.....she sounds so much like you......

  17. Every surgery has potential risks and complication...........maybe you're not a plication candiate.....since you are self pay, maybe a VS or RNY or a lap band...........ask any potential surgeon what are his complication rates with each type of surgery..........somewhere on here there is a post from the doc who did that gals surgery on yt and then Dr,. Ortiz wrote a reply........see if you can find it............might give you some prespective.............know that whatever you do, you will be nervous, excited and a few other emotions...........read some posts here, where others express their pre and post surgery feelings.
  18. Some things I have found......Jenno O White meat Turkey patties and frozen turkey meatballs..............poached salmon with a dill sause made of plain yogart and dry dill, ..delish.....baked squash with any white meat.....makes it not too dry...........melba toast, spread canned salmon, add diced onion and fat free mayo..with stawberries...a regular for breakfast....which for me is usually about 11am, can't seem to eat before that.......chilli with ground turkey...I look for things that I can make fast either in micro or broiled in toaster oven.......living alone makes eating at the usual times challenging.......having to re-learn how to eat, so accustom to eating on the run or frozen meals.........I do keep a few a Lean Cuisine in case I have not planned at all.............again planning is a challenge.
  19. Maybe consider contacting the nutritionist, likely she will have some suggestions about the nausea.
  20. Hi ..........It's ok, hang in, we all loose weight at different rates............I know in the first few weeks after my plication, I had such a hard time getting anywhere near the 64oz/day of water............I think I was over 2 months before I could get it all in each day, and even now, there are days I miss the mark. Our bodies go in to shock after any surgery............remember the body goes in to fasting mode when our calorie intake drops.......hang in, it will get better. Heck I hit a plateau and I did exactly what I swore I wouldn't do............on those scales and if they didn't go down my mood such did...........I was reminded to keep in mind there are non scale victories..........things will get better.
  21. Well said Sharon, coundn't agree with you more..........................mine for today is remember food and a liquid don't mix, least not within 30 minutes of each other.........isn't this called the Golden Rule or something like that......anyhoo..... For me, that includes my very fav home made Veggie beaf barley soup, I ate it once just scooping it out of the pot..........and will not do that one again..now my soups and slotted spoon are well aquainted. Ok..... I know that one woulda seemed obvious, I occassionally missed the obvious. Oh, one other thing I need to constantly remind myself of is those non scale victories.
  22. Hi Feather, Contact either Lori or Carolina and explain to them you'd like to communicate with someone who had their surgery about a year ago. They have done this before and will help you with it. Everyone has these feelings you're experiencing, they are totally normal. Try not to stress out too much, everything will be okay.
  23. Hi Lindsay is so right.............any surgical procedure has risks................that's why we try and find the most expereinced surgeon to do what we need or want done. WLS is no different.....I believe I wasn't paying for the surgery as much as I was paying for the surgeon's expertise. I think I know the lady on yt and her surgeon has limited expereince with plication. If anyone doesn't feel safe and comfortable with their surgeon, then maybe it's time to look at other surgeons. I put my life in my surgeon's hands and I did ask the questions like................complications he had had with this surgery. The answer was zero, and the next questions was what complication was he aware or heard of with this surgery. My third question was why is your procedure better and zero complications. I got the answers and mostly I got information I could then go and research. I needed to feel comfortable with the surgeon I picked, and for me the more information I got, the more I was comfortable with what I was choicing to do and who I wanted to do it. The complications referred to only happen within about 48hrs post surgery, and has to do with the first row of sutures. I think this is why it is wise to stay close to the surgeon's clinic/hospital, for at least a couple of days........so if anything comes up, he's right there. That's my 2 cents worth................not puttin down anyones choice, this is just how I do things to feel comfortable with my choices...
  24. Hi, Okay doing by request.........sure hope there are a bunch of other plicators who will post their ideas, tips on post surgical eating. Things that worked for you and things that didn't work for you. I had forgotten that first 3 weeks until it was mentioned by another plicator I too, wasnt hungry in the first 2 weeks. I found the Campbells soups variety called Gardennay........all creamy soups and I loved them, Wild Mushroom being my fav. No need to add water, or milk, just heat and serve. The only protein shake I can tolerate is the Slim Fast brand, the rest, well, I end up tossing it almost right away. The protein power shots didnt even make it part way down, for me they were the worst. My first meal was 2T of mashed potatoes and 2T of poached salmon...............I remember it as being the best thing I remembered eating in a very long time. Salmon, white chicken and white turkey are my proteins of choice, esp salmon. It can be found in 4oz frozen fillets, dont' have to thaw them, just pop them in the micro for 2.5 minutes...totally yummy Also Jenno O does frozen turkey patties and meatballs both using white meat. Lifesavers cause I live alone and planning meals are not my strong point. Okay plicators.......we need your tips and ideas
  25. Darn,.......sorry forgot to include this...........the nose running thing seems to be related to 'pushing' the line of a full tummy??? Good word Lindsay......lol...lol...sounds so much nicer than mine of overeating or eating past full.
