Ok all you bandster pros! I am 5 days post op and feeling awesome . Of course still on liquids but have a question.......I cannot tell if I have a band. There is no different in drinking than before surgery! I am not hungry but do you think I can stretch the pouch drinking to fast?

OK... it is 9/11 and I am back home in Las Vegas since yesterday afternoon. My surgery was a walk in the park. ( lap band), It was a bit hecktic at the OCC because there was a major power outage in the whole SW of the US which also effected TJ the day before. My hubby and I flew in early friday morning and got to the OCC about 8am. After a short wait we got to see Dr. Miranda who informed me I was made 47% out of fat ...... She wants me down to 144 pounds (wow) My starting weight was 200 and surgery weight 187. I am 5'6" tall. Even 155 pounds is a dream. I then had my blood drawn and saw the cardiologist. did a great job blowing, passed my EKG and then got into my room. i was starting to get a headache so the nurse hooked my IV up and injected all the groovy stuff and i was a happy camper, lol. I remember walking into the OR and thinking how nice everyone was. Next thing I was back in my bed talking to Dr. Ortiz. My husband said i was only gone for about 20 min!!!! As soon As I could I got up walking around and using the bathroom. My IV was removed, I got dressed and we where on the way to the Marriott. My husband ordered room service. Salmon for him and chicken broth and home made popsicles for me. after dinner we took a cab to a store to get juices and some Retin-a for my friend, lol. Next morning we took another cab to go to revolution st. walked around a bit, bought some silly stuff and went back to the hotel. The driver picked us up at 11am to get us back to San Diego airport. Sooo, now I am sitting at home kinda bored.

Thank you canuk!!!! It was a walk in the park. I am back home in Vegas since yesterday afternoon and feeling great. ( I sound like an advertisement, lol) I have very little gas issues and my biggest complaint is the sticky skin from the iodine. I sent my hubby to the store to get rubbing alcohol. LOL i think I am the only one on this site complaining about that.

I feel ya.................my first day too today. surgery is next friday

Tomorrow is Sept. 1st and my banding date is Friday Sept. 9th. My Hubby and I will be flying to SD early Fri morning and will get to OCC before 8am. It has been difficult convincing friends and my doctor that I will be ok going to Mexico to have Lap Band surgery. I am born and raised in Germany and don't think the USA is the greatest in the medical field. I went to the OCC a few weeks ago for consultation/ tour and knew I was in the right place. Dr Ortiz is right now in Germany as a Key Speaker at a Convention for obesity surgeries. Last monday he took the time and expense to receive (in Germany) a call from my Dr to ensure her of his qualifications. So now that I have everybody believing I will be OK I have to work on myself.......lol I don't think Im scared of the procedure but of my live with the band!

Hi Fleur, I am going on september 9th for banding. I will be staying 1 night before going home. maybe you will still be there.....

I am getting nervous........Am I the only one there in september?

I am a hairstylist for over 30 years and seen all kinds of hair loss after surgical weight loss. First of all it comes from inside the body. GNC has hair vitamins ( sorry, not chewable)...The difference between regular vitamins and those are that reg vitamins never are enough for the hair. Also prenatal vitamins would do the trick. And of course make sure your protein intake is up there!!!!!! Then there are shampoos that help your hair to regrow faster and thicker( Nioxin is my favorite, and it comes in all kinds of formulas for different hair types) There are other brands but they all work on the same principle (DHT removal..) I hope this helps!

I am planning on sept 9th on lap band placement..... My husband and I went to OCC today to tour the facility . I was beyond impressed! I have absolutely no worries going on the 9th.
