  1. yeah that i think that the mushy stage is by their instruction only since on the post op papers it says in big letters no mushies.... who knows why...but oh well haha
  2. thank you for reminding us that non-scale victories are just as important and that even though sometimes the scale doesnt move- doesnt mean that we arent shrinking!!!
  3. the post op diet is hard!!!!! good job for findinig something that works for you! I found that if i eat around 5 (that seems to be the time i get hungry) i dont snack- my hubby has to eat alone but he doesnt care- i think he likes to eat and watch tv more anyway! hahaha I just dont understand why i feel the need to push my limits and eat more then I KNOW i should..its not like Im hungry anyway i just WANT to eat.... (since my fill has made me not hungry- but it doesnt really restrict much i guess...)
  4. I sort of do think its cheating..not to sound harsh..and sorry if i do! I went thru bandster hell just like everyone else who has been banded, and it was hard, REALLY HARD.but it made me VERY proud of myself bc i continuted to lose for a while and then maintained. As the weight comes off, your energy level will rise. The band is there to curb your appetite, and the rest is in your mind. I have grown SO much as a person in the last 2-3 months, dealing with my eating issues and learning about being hungry and being full and I just think that taking a pill is just like putting a blanket over your issues. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  5. were you banded by dr.ortiz?? Those who were did not have a mushie stage...so I couldnt really help you there! good luck, congrats on the weight loss
  6. I do SO well for breakfast (1/4-1/2 cup granola with FF yogurt and some blackberries) and lunch (cottage cheese and turkey or 1/2 banana) and when dinner rolls around (the last 2 days) i have been eating too much (however its a lot less then what it was before!). I almost wish that I would PB, JUST once, but nothing. I have noticed that if i eat right when I get hungry (around 5pm) then I dont snack anymore- which is good (so ive conquered that) Sorry for complaining - I dont know what has gotten into me the last two days, but Im paying for it on the scale bc havent really lost anything!!!!! I just need to get my head in back in the right place!!!!!! Bc Mama Michelle and I are getting our boobs done in '09! hahahah My goal for this weekend is to REALLY watch what i eat at night!!! I am going to fix this in the next few days!!!!!! I CAN DO IT!
  7. from the reading i have done online about slippage it usually occurs if you are PBing a lot- or if you were stiched correctly. i think you are fine but it wouldnt hurt to shoot dr. ortiz an email- it might put your mind at ease. on another note, i am sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts.
  8. hahah i know what you mean! my rings are loosers, and my face is slimmer...but i dropped one pant size and look better in my shirts..but jeez after 31lbs youd like you be at least 2 sizes smaller!!!!
  9. its short for productive burp..its when you eat too much or too fast and it comes back up on you
  10. thanks cylnn- i think i need to start reevaluating what im eating... but its actually almost frustrating not being able to eat a big dinner...even though i know i dont need it...but its like i NEED TO
  11. that is crazy!!!!! Here is to the life that was born on that day- and your NEW birthday bc this band will help you to live a whole new life! Good luck- glad you finally joined the forum!
  12. Punkigurl91 Hi there! Congrats on getting banded... Make sure when you go - you bring this questions with you when you meet Dr. Miranda the nutrionist! However, snacking POST-op isnt really in the guidelines. You shouldnt be hungry to need to snack, and also you can not drink 1 hour after you eat or you risk stretching your pouch and washing you food out of the pouch which defeats the whole purpose of the band. So, in other words, NO SNACKS! Second, PRE-op snacking, i would try veggies or sugar free jello if you are hungry. Since you are still in highschool maybe but your slimfast in a different container like a thermous type thing that way no one knows what it is- you can just say it chocoloate milk! For prom, you will be fine going out to eat- just be concious of what youre eating- try to pick healthy- or share a meal with a friend (thats what my husband and I do now). Personally I would stay away from bread just to be safe- remember to eat slow, dont eat a lot, and chew a lot! You shouldnt really have to worry about PBing until after you get filled-just be concious of what you are eating! feel free to ask more questions!
  13. yeah im starting to use small plates- it will look like a lot but in reality its not a lot at all!
  14. i get really stressed out when it comes to flights and being on time, so i wouldnt risk it bc you never know how long itll take to get back to the airport- if you can fly in really early and get a late flight back you might be fine...but id would stay the night if i went back to the occ
  15. thanks, i had a feeling that i might be eating just a bit too much when that happens. but now i know! thanks!
  16. i also trust in dr. ortiz that his placement of the band is done well! Respect your band and it will respect you! >
  17. thanks- i will try and pay more attention to that today. I need to work on not putting so much food on my plate (even though its less than before) its still too much- and i feel like I NEED to eat it all!!! That is my goal for this week- to be a lot more concious of the amount of food i eat at dinner
  18. I havent PB'ed (thank God) however sometimes after I eat i get the hiccups? Does that mean Im eating too much???
  19. May 26th is my bday - it will be a GREAT DAY! I am soooo excited for you!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!
  20. you also dont mention how ppl treated their band..... just because we have it doesnt me we can do whatever to it! we have to abide by the rules to make sure it stays inside of us!
  21. this is not just a fluke- it is one of the many blessings that the band brings! Luckily- I did not get diabetes or high BP while being morbidly obese...however there are MANY articles on the interenet reguarding this issue. I hope that your husband makes the right choice and makes an appt. with dr. ortiz- he has nothing to lose!
  22. Me too...or maybe ill just go for a big implantand hope that works hahaha
  23. michelle-- i know you go on fitday- how many calories in that juice concoction you make in the mornings? i might try that
