  1. Thats what I felt like when my acid reflux is kicking into high gear and only food helped it.
  2. It sounds like you both need to get in a LOT more fluids! You both sound dehydrated which can happen very easily. Ttry to get a lot more in even though you feel bloated. The bloat is probably the gas from the surgery and not gas from eating and drinking. Try to walk a LOT! That helps get the gas out of your system and helps lower the bloat.
  3. On Spark people where you enter your food amounts, the box drops down and lets you change the serving type. If you use the cup type, then put in .5 for 1/2 cup. .125 for 1/4 cup and so on. It does let you override the amounts. If it states ounces, you can change that to cups or something else depends on which is availbale. So go practice with the drop down boxes and let me know if you see it. If not, I'll try to walk you through it, ok? It will make it so much easier to keep track of your food!
  4. Yes, 84 sounds a lot better. Fish does have a lot of protein, especially white fish. I discovered that by accident when ate way too much one day! Protein requirements are also based on your weight so you can't generalize amounts needed per day for everyone. People who weigh more need more. I am going back to the OCC for a checkup on my band next week and that is actually one of my questions for Dr. Miranda. I want her to tell me how much I need in protein per day. I also want to ask about calories and such. Got lots of questions because after almost a year, I still have only lost 38 pounds and I have 10 cc's in my band. I stay between 1200 and 1400 calories per day (as my Sparkpeople recommended) do my excercises faithfully and and still I weigh 250. My protein is usually a little higher than what Spark recommends, but originally, Dr. Miranda told me to go higher, so I do. But not by much. Anyway, I'll report back once I get home.
  5. I think the liquid limit is for carry ons only. If you check your bag, you can take more.
  6. Keep in mind that most people are too tight in the morning and can only have liquids. Just saying if that is the time you are tightest, that is kind of normal.
  7. I keep a very close track on my protein using Spark People too and I have to say, that I cannot figure out how you got to 134 grams with what you listed as having eaten. A slim fast is only about 15 grams, a cheese stick is 7 grams and a cup of broccholi is only 2.6 grams. The baked fish must have a huge piece to add up to that much. Fish is very high in protein so to have it twice in one day is excess, but I still don't see how it got to be 134 grams. Did you enter the right amount for the size you had? I mean, I try to eat a lot of protein but never go that high. WOW!
  8. Congratulations and good for you, YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Oh, is your daughter going now? I thought she wasn't???
  10. So glad to hear to are there and done! YEAH! Congratulations and welcome to bandland. Now remember, to walk a lot and sip your liquids. No gulping. You'll want to avoid excess air as much as possible. And the walking will help with the gas and bloating. Good luck and be safe on your way home!
  11. Well, you sit on it, kind of like a bike. You push pedals with your legs/feet at the same time you are pulling back on bars with your hands/arms. I'll have to take a picture of it for you to see, but I love it. It's easy to use and you can set tension on it too. I can see quite a difference in my arms, legs and butt already.
  12. Thanks Alana, I like reading about what other people are doing so I can try it myself. Right now I have been using my cardioglide machine. It's great, it works the arms and legs. Once the weather warms up a bit I can get back outside. Right now we are in the teens so it is a little too cold to walk. How you doing, ok?
  13. I think you did great in the video too Mama Michelle! You look wonderful and you are a good speaker!!! Way to go chicolina!
  14. AHA!! So thats why I fainted when I got a tattoo!!
  15. Bummer!!! I didn't have a lot of choice with dates if I wanted the $170 ticket. Would have been cool to meet.
  16. Really? Are you staying at the Lucerna? We are coming in the morning of the 18th but my fill is on the 19th. If you are at the hotel, I will see you I am sure! Just look for a short fat girl with a short skinny guy!
  17. Do you all eat at least 1200 calories a day? I keep hearing that you need to eat at least 1200 calories a day to lose weight and I am wondering if all of you who have lost a lot of weight really stick to that.
  18. Awww honey, it's perfectly normal to be scared, especially since you are going alone. But, you will be fine, I promise!!!! You WILL meet up with other bandsters and you will hang out and all will be good. Just make absolutely sure to pack as lightly as you can since there is no-one to help you carry your stuff. And when it's all over, you be like " Oh duh, that was nothing" and you will be on here comforting the next person who is saying the same thing as you are right now. Luckily, I had my husband go with me but knowing myself the way I do, I'd be saying "YO ya big baby, grow up and get over it. You are a big girl now and can handle it". Of course, I'd still be crying anyway. But, thats me, a big ole baby! Listen, you'll be fine and all will go well and when it's all over, you will be VERY proud of yourself for doing it alone. You will!! So, keep your chin up, think good thoughts and PLEASE use the hotel computer to let us know you are there are doing fine! ((((((((((((((((((((((( BIG HUG )))))))))))))))))))))))) wish you could have waited until the 18th, I would have gone with you!
  19. I can't imagine what they are talking about. The horror stories they may be referring to would be for the gastric bypass. That is a much more intense surgery where there is a lot that can and often does go wrong. If they are talking about the lap band, and I can't believe that they are, they are grossly misguided. The only so-called horror story I can think of is a slip and that is fixable and very very rare and won't happen if you follow the rules. Remember, with gastric it is permanent and cannot be undone. The lap band can be undone if need be. Far far fewer side effects and far fewer post op problems too. Mostly gas. Do a lot of research and reading and DO NOT listen to your friends who don't know the truth or are listening to something with only 1/2 of an ear. And you might want to keep your surgery a secret from a lot of people too. You will find that many of them 'think' they know all about the surgery when in fact, they do not. A lot of your friends may persuade you not to do it, but only you can decide if it is right. My advice, REASEARCH and read all you can on this very site too! Ask questions, Talk to Dr. Ortiz. YOu will soon discover that you are in very good hands right here.
  20. This is Darlene right? I think I made my appointment for 10 but I think I am going to change it to noon too. At least we can meet up there then if that is ok with you. But I also want to talk to Dr. Miranda about nutrition while I am there too.
  21. Thats interesting. Never heard of it. I'm sure it isn't anything to worry about though. If it was, the Doctor would have said so. Try to relax and stay calm or you might make it worse. I know my muscle spasms in my back get worse when I am stressed. I bet warm liquids would feel good on it though and might even relax the muscle a bit. Sure hope the pain goes away soon!!
  22. I'll he headed back to the airport on the 20th, POOH!!!
  23. Anyone besides me and Darlene going to be in Tijuana? She is going for a fill and I am going for a checkup and a fill. Just wondering if anyone else is going then.
  24. YEAH!!!!!!!!!! Good for you! What a wonderful feeling.
