Question re: Drinking after a snack
denisem replied to denisem's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Kim, I get mad at myself too when I eat something for a snack and then I'm thirsty. I'll try remember to drink some vitamin water first, and then go for the snack....if I still want it. Thanks for responding.....everyone's opinion sure helps! Denise -
There are tons of other exercises that do not work the abs. I love the Wii fit, and use it almost every day. I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week to run, but other than that, the Wii Fit is my new friend!

Julie, Thanks for the recommendation. I recently purchased the Wii and Wii Fit as an early b'day present and would very much like to add the Jillian game to it. I love her on the Biggest Loser! Denise

I'm been wondering 2 things and wanted to get your expert opinions on these questions. 1. After having a snack, is it necessary to wait 1 hour to drink, just like at the meal? I've been following the rule for the mealtime here, and wondered if you all did too. 2. If you just have a bite of something, for example, while cooking dinner to taste test something, do you refrain from drinking liquid as well? I do not follow the drinking rule in this case, and wondered what you all did. Thanks for the help! Denise

I just cheated the band big time
denisem replied to ackovach's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Amy, I missed your original post as well, but please know I'm so very sorry about the loss of your mother. I haven't lost a parent, but I did lose my mother-in-law last year and we were very close. It's very hard on everyone when a loved one passes, and I'll pray for you. Please don't ever feel like you can't express your feelings here...long or short....we are here for you and so many of us care. God Bless, Denise -
I'm getting my 4th fill today. My 3rd fill was the first one where I felt any restriction at all. I still have a little restriction, but I think I can eat more than I should, so I'm going today for a small tweak. Luckily, my doc is local to me and I only pay $20 for the office visit since this was covered by my insurance. I'm one of the lucky ones that got it approved. We are all so different and you just have to go by what your own body is telling you. Good luck and keep us posted! Denise

She didn't actually drink the vodka sours silly....she was using it as an example to explain how dry her mouth feels! Just nipping this one in the bud before everyone starts giving her a hard time for drinking when she didn't! Denise

Jann, I'll be praying for you and I'm so sorry for your loss. Just know we are all thinking about you and will be here for you when you return. Denise -
I've had 3 fills and have pretty good restriction now and have had no problems with salad. It's one of my favorite things to eat at a restaurant. Denise

First Day Back to Work...Post Op
denisem replied to lisamarie00's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I would try the dr. approved liquid diet approach. That way you won't feel awkward when you're drinking your protein shakes. Good luck! Denise -
I too was able to have jello in the beginning stage. It was pretty much clear broth, jello, popsicles and vitamin water! YUMMO! But, the main thing is to heal at this point! Welcome to Bandland! Denise

I know you've been waiting so long for this restriction, and I'm so happy for you. I finally have good restriction too, so let the lbs. come OFF! Denise
-
Yayyyy! That is a major accomplishment, and I'm so happy for you! You've done really well in your weight loss journey, and should be very proud! Have a great day! Denise

Thanks for this article, Jann! So timely too, since I just started a beginner running program yesterday and I'm sore today. I'm supposed to walk at a leisurely pace today and pick up the running again tomorrow. It makes perfect sense when I read the article that you should rest or do something less strenuous every other day. I'm trying to work up to running for 30 continuous minutes. The plan takes 10 weeks to achieve, so I need all the luck I can muster up....I'm so NOT a runner! Denise

In pain - What is ok with band
denisem replied to stormy's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Stormy, If you have any liquid Children's Motrin for your son (I always have it for my 5-yr old in case of fever) you can see the adult dose on the bottle and take that. At least you won't have to worry about it getting stuck. Hope you feel better. Good luck! Denise -
I made this last week for my family and we LOVED it! The chicken was so tender it went down easily for me. Thanks Jann for sharing the recipe! Denise

Like Jann said, pizza is junk food and should be kept to a minimum. I've had 3 fills, and tried to eat a piece of pizza last weekend when my husband and 5-yr old were having some for dinner. I could only manage about 1/2 a piece and the crust was just too chewy to chew up well enough. It really wasn't worth the trouble, even though it smelled great! So, in other words...just eat the healthy stuff and you probably won't miss pizza at all! Denise

Had to get my band unfilled today...
denisem replied to Iluvmyboyz's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Geez! I'll bet that scared the BAJEEBERS out of you! Good advice about going to a fill doctor instead of the emergency room...I'll keep that in mind in case this ever happens! Get your rest and follow dr.s orders! Denise -
Welcome to Bandland, Shelby! I'm excited for you and it's great to hear everything went good for you today! So glad you could start your adventure 1 day early too! Get your rest, and now your on your way! Denise

It sounds like you need a fill. As you lose weight, your band gets looser, like a belt around your waist and it needs to be tightened. That's how my dr. explained it to me anyway. Good luck! Denise

Question about pbing prevention
denisem replied to DaGreen's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I had my 3rd fill recently and had never pb'd until then! I'll be heading out for some Papaya Enzymes asap! The restriction is great, but you totally must follow the rules when you have this great restriction. There's not getting around it. Good luck ladies! Denise
