You are my hero, starting pre-op diet and quiting smoking, holy cow! You must have wicked determination and strength. I have been on pre-op for 4 days, it's going well, some days are tougher than others...down 8 lbs already. But quiting smoking too...oh I would be homicidal without a doubt. I have a husband and two children to consider. My surgeon has asked me to reduce how much I smoke (I only smoke about 10 per day) before surgery, but he knows how difficult the pre-op period can be and did not ask me to quit before my surgery on June 10th (11 days to go). Best of luck! Cathy

That's wonderful....a co-worker and I were disgussing jean yesterday. Right now, I wear jean with stretch band waist, I can never find a nice pair with button and zipper that fit well. She was telling me about these fabulous jeans for $240.00...I said wow that's expensive and then I said, I will be getting a pair of those jean! When I am at goal and have the TT, if need be, I will be getting some smokin' hot jeans and if they look good, the price tag will not matter!!!! That's my reward for all the hard work to come! Thanks for sharing Cathy

I would chose a low sodium, low calorie soup and eat more....600 calories a day is not enough...your body will go into starvation mode and you will not lose. I am on a 900 calorie a day plan and I am losing 2-3 lbs a day! 8 since Tuesday. Change it up and make sure you are eating enough...the lbs will fall off! Good luck, Cathy

You are too funny, actually hands and feet are the only skinny part of my body! LOL!! I have the really bony feet and hands, so if they lose weight I will be really peeved...they don't need to lose any. Thanks for the laughs, you guys are the best!!! Cathy

Ok, what is the purpose of this? Extra protein? I will go for it, if it will give me some energy! Cathy

shakes/lean cusine vs. atkinsKittycat replied to dianna's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion I am on Optifast shakes, not bad with extra cocoa and ice cold...I am supposed to have 4 a day, but can substitute veggies instead of a shake. I had a lean cuisine for dinner last night, I was loosing it, not eating and in two days lost 6 lbs...so I would combine shakes with lean cuisine. Good luck! Cathy

That's true...jewellery and shoe shopping...after a good nite sleep, I am on it! Thanks!

Hi Ladies, I just wondering if anyone else felt weak or drained while on pre-op. I was great yesterday, after day one, I thought I had made over the very large hump, but today I am peeing non-stop, my eyes are glassy and I could crawl into bed and not wake-up until Monday. I thought with all of the vitamins and protein I am ingesting that I would have more energy...is this temporary? Could it be caffeine withdrawl, I have given up my diet coke and all soda for that matter. Maybe I need a shopping spree....oh wait...I can't buy any clothes right now...would be a total waste of money!!! LOL!! But jewelley is one size fits all!!!! Thanks ladies, Cathy

Pre-Op diet begins todayKittycat replied to DiamondJim's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion Good Luck! I started my pre-op diet on Tuesday and it's been tough just doing shakes, so I have been replacing two of the four shakes with veggies and protein (fish). I have lost 6 lbs in two days. I am also weaning off diet coke, actually haven't had soda in two days either and have a constant caffeine headache, so the scale and a bottle of water are my best friends these days! LOL! You can do it...it's so worth it! Cathy

Sorry to hear that you have had trouble with medical issues. My suggestion would be to wait until you have recovered from your hernia surgery, read up on lapband and decide what's best for you. I live in Ontario, Canada and there is no coverage whatsoever for lapband, and the cost is 15K. The only reason I am not going to OCC to have the surgery done is because my husband would not allow me have it outside of the country. Best of luck with your decision! Cathy

Maybe this has been answered before....Kittycat replied to C1BandedBabe's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion Hi Ladies, Along with walking is it okay to do any weights for arms or legs? I need to firm up these areas to avoid loose skin while losing weight and cannot wait for three months, unless I have to! Thanks Cathy

Congrats!!! I hope all went well and please keep us up to date on how you are doing! Take care Cathy

I find keeping busy in the evening is best. If I just want to veg infront of the TV, I do something with my hands...like knit. A friend of mine just had a baby on the weekend, so her little one is going to have several baby blankets to cuddle with, LOL!! Best of luck, it's not easy, but it's worth it....after day one, I am down 3 lbs!!! Take care, Cathy

Thanks Calicat, I think the toughest part is not actually eating....I have decided to stick with the shakes and veggies..and if I need a lean cuisine or something to eat, I will keep it healthy and within the calorie guidelines. I have not given a specific number of lbs to lose, but so far after just day one, I am down 3 lbs. So it's working, it's tough, but it's working! Thanks so much for your info and suppport! Have a great day, Cathy
